Chapter 44: I can't die?

Chapter 44: I can't die?

"FUCK!"

Anon felt a stinging pain in the center of his head. His entire body was sore. His vision was spinning and he was bleeding from the orifices on his face. He opened his eyes slowly as the world looked red and blurry from the blood.

Anon was in a state of confusion. But thanks to him living for an unfathomable amount of time. He was able to enter a state of absolute rationality.

The confusion only lasted the time it would take for a spark to fly from flint and steel. Anon surveyed his surroundings and found that he was surrounded by five corpses.

The ground was carved with runes and he was in the center of a pentagram. A flurry of thoughts assaulted his mind. He soon was bombarded with information from the original owner of the body.

The information was in fragments and he didn't even grasp the name of the body. Anon's sense of self was beginning to get assimilated by the soul of the owner.

But his 'ego' was too monstrous! The soul instead was completely integrated with Anon.

"Apocalypse... the turned..."

"Blessed...cursed..."

Anon mumbled to himself as his mind stabilized.

He found out that this world has been through an apocalyptic event. The sun had turned blue for some reason and the animals and humanity had seemingly been forcefully transformed.

A sizeable portion had become demonic beast.

"This isn't possible! I experienced a true death!"

"How am I still alive?"

The answer soon surfaced in his mind.

He looked at the corpses around him in disappointment.

"You fools!"

"The avatar resurrection ritual..."

Anon realized that he was revived by a cult that believed the apocalypse was a blessing. In the previous history before the cataclysm. There was a large cult that studied the supernatural.

But everything was an illusion. Their 'magic' was simply tricks and sleight of hand.

That was until the cataclysm. When the sun turned blue. All manners of supernatural power became possible. This cult believed in a god called 'Mundais'

The cult worshipped this god devoutly. But the higher-ups knew it was a lie. But they had a plan that spanned centuries to make it a real god.

Through incense and prayer and targeting it. The spiritual fetus of a god should have been born based on their theories. The way supernatural power now worked was a complete mystery.

Unfortunately, the good days were long gone for this cult. The moment they were about to succeed. A righteous group of awakened blessed wiped out almost their entire sect.

The patriarch managed to allow his core disciples to escape with the ritual.

This escaping group was made up of 50 of the elites. They carried with them the results of over a hundred years of testing and experiments.

But they were rapidly hunted.

The five corpses surrounding Anon were the last of this sect. Despite the countless failures in the past. They knew that there was no way out. Rather then commit suicide. They decided to risk it all and 'resurrect' their god!

When Axiom had experienced a true death by unraveling his consciousness. Many things happened. His memories and imprint were clearly etched into the universe.

His subconscious shaped reality in a way even he couldn't do. It created a complete world!

Axiom in death had been reborn unknowingly. He had become the governing rules of reality. In that state and for billions of years. He was like a simple machine.

Performing calculations and safeguarding his reality from foreign entities.

The century of offerings and prayers had not created a new god like that extinct sect had expected. It had instead touched upon the dormant shards of consciousness of Axiom.

Axiom had experienced a true death.

He was like a simulator for reality.

But now a wisp of his consciousness had reformed. This was due to the supernatural nature of the world and the sacrificial ritual of this group.

If it weren't for this particular set of circumstances.

He would have been in a state of limbo for all of eternity. His consciousness never would've been able to put itself back together.

"FUCK!"

Anon was pissed.

He had spent millions of years tracking his consciousness origin to finally embrace the sweet release of death. But all of it had been ruined.

Anon had lived for so long and had experienced so much repetition and suffering. He wasn't mad from his experience. He was just fed up with it.

He had suffered greatly to end it all.

But then these fools resurrected him by mistake!

Anon wiped the blood from his face and walked towards one of the corpses. He picked up the sacrificial knife and without hesitation stabbed himself in the heart.

His consciousness slowly started to slip away. He didn't even notice the pain.

Everything went black.

But then to his horror.

[Seal of Axiom]

You see. When Axiom was building the prototype of his reality. He created two realms. These later evolved without his input into the myriad of realms.

One of these realms was 'no return'.

An afterlife for the dead.

Anon's soul had fused with the target. So despite suffering a physical death. He was alive spiritually! Just like what happened to anyone that died in his reality.

He was sent to the afterlife!

"You have got to be kidding me..."

Before he could even properly react. His vision blurred and he felt something pull him from the afterlife. No, it wasn't simply pulling him from the afterlife. It was as if time itself was being rewound! He found his vision once again blurred from blood.

He was lying in a pentagram. There were five corpses surrounding him.

It was as if everything had been reset!

"This..."

Anon felt a shiver down his spine when he thought of the implications of what was happening to him.

Anon thought about his soul relics. He thought about his experience creating seals. But the more he tried to interact with these long destroyed things. The more he realized.

"They don't exist!"

Anon could only feel a faint connection with his 'Seal of Axiom'.

Anon realized. He couldn't control this 'time loop' at all! He didn't know what was causing it or its source. He had some theories. But when he experienced true death. He had no idea what happened afterwards.

He wasn't even sure how such a complete world had been created. It was beyond his ability!

Axiom got up and wiped the blood from his eyes. He walked to a corpse and picked up the knife. He stabbed himself directly in the heart again and gritted his teeth as he sat down in meditation and slowly drifted off into oblivion.

He focused intently on his seal.

He had failed to destroy this thing even when he was 'omnipotent'. He knew there was no chance at destroying it in his current state.

This time. He didn't even appear in the afterlife. He also didn't feel something grasp him and pull him back. The moment he lost consciousness. It was as simple as blinking.

He was back!

Right at the moment of the rituals 'success'.

There are many constants to the universe. Anon didn't know that he had become one of them. But unlike him, other constants were simply rules.

The speed of the rotation of animaxiom particles. The collision of them. These were constants. Anon had essentially become essential for the functioning of the universe.

He had unknowingly become the 'world will' of his reality.

When he dies. The world dies with him.

Just like how when he experienced 'true death'. The shards of his consciousness became the processor of reality. They performed the job perfectly.

What Anon didn't know was that each death was 'corrupting' not him, but the 'space' outside of his reality. This 'time loop' he had been locked in was multiversal! Not only multiversal... It was expanding its influence! It would soon affect all realities...

Anon killed himself a few more times.

But each attempt ended in failure.

"I can't die?"

"It would seem... I am cursed..."

"I am... Immortal."

Anon kicked one of the corpses.

Anon couldn't even remember the name of this body. But he didn't care.

"From this moment. Your body belongs to me!"

"The one most favored by Axiom!"

"Anon Amos!"
