Chapter 23: Power

Chapter 23: Power

Anon was not looking forward to contacting his birth parents. Despite their estrangment. Anon at the very least knew the retirement home his mother stayed at.

He went there but found something abnormal.

"There is no record of such a person in our system."

That wasn't all. Anon was caught by surprise at this development. He then tried to contact other family members. But it was all the same. Everyone had mysteriously disappeared!

He then went to a department of the government to acquire a new I.D to claim his winnings. He figured he could probably get a new social security card there as well.

But they told him something similar.

"There are no records of a 'Anon Amos' in our system."

Anon left the building more confused.

He checked his bank accounts and found that they were still working. But for some reason, all traces of himself had seemingly vanished.

Anon's identity had completely vanished!

"We didn't know you were one of 'his' men!"

Anon remembered when he was arrested. The man had said this and let him go. Their attitude went through a complete shift. Anon walked towards the police station and talked about what he had experienced.

The person handling matters wasn't really sure how to respond. But they then recieved a call. Anon was escorted to a room with a screen mounted on the wall. A camera and microphone right below. He could see a video of himself on the bottom right corner of the screen.

The screen was loading. But then a man appeared.

"Hello Anon..."

"It is nice to finally meet you."

Anon spoke:

"Who are you?"

"Who I am isn't important. You can just call me the 'commander'. I have been watching you for a very long time. I have a lot of questions. I am sure you have answers."

"Why should I answer your questions? Who do you think you are?"

"Cut the act. I know you know we've been monitoring you. I gave you the initiative. Now you have taken it. So you clearly have something you want."

"I know you a monstrous genius. A man who is inscrutable. Your actions have sent shockwaves of surprise to all that have handled your case."

Anon had no idea what this guy was talking about. All his feats had been documented by the government and the 'commander'. They saw him stand in place for over a year outside in both summer and winter. They saw him leap off a building to his death only for him to resurrect!

They saw him not eat or drink the entire time! They saw that he never sleeped! The Commander saw him react as if he had the seventh sense!

The Commander had initially given Anon 'immunity'. But after seeing a video of him resurrecting. He continued a plan they had long started to implement.

The Commander wanted 'control' of Anon.

He knew too well that everyone has a weakness. So he had long detained most of Anon's family. He thought that Anon had gone through a 'awakening'. Unlocking a 'spatial' ability.

This could explain most of everything.

Why doesn't he eat? He directly teleports food into his digestive system from a hidden stash.

Why doesn't he use the bathroom? He directly teleports the waste to a hidden location.

Why doesn't he sleep? He directly manipulate and replicates the sleeping process by displacing the chemicals in his brain.

Why can he resurrect? He displaces the matter back to the appropriate locations.

Why does he have a form of telekinesis? He stretches infinity by teleporting things at a incredibly small scale.

Everything could be explained by Anon mastering a 'spatial' ability.

The Commander had seen Anon make a taser disappear without even coming into contact with it. This is what made him sure of his hypothesis!

He also had secret agents in the crowd back when Anon was performing at the circus. His feats and skill were further documented.

Now the 'commander' planned on testing Anon's ability.

"I wish to test the extent of your teleportation."

"Everyone related to you. Everyone you love and care about. They have all been trapped in different escape rooms across the world."

"These rooms are completely sealed off from the rest of the world. They are powered by artificial intelligence and an internal life support system. They have been trapped for over three months now."

"The life support system of each node can support them for up to three years."

A prompt appeared on the screen. A lot of coordinates flashed by. Anon memorized these with his 'true vision'.

"What you just saw was the location coordinates for each family member. The clock is ticking. I am interested in seeing directly your ability!"

Anon laughed.

"Everyone I love and care about? It has been thousands of years since I've met any of them. I came to you not because of this. But to discuss my lost identity!"

The Commander's eye twitched.

"As expected of you. You are quite amazing."

"It seems I was wrong about your abilities extent. You probably have a spatial awareness that lets you see the area where you will teleport. This makes sense..."

"So you were able to see where it truly would take you!"

Anon was speechless. But he went with the flow:

"Such tricks to me are trivial..."

The Commander had calculated the coordinates for the bottom of the ocean. He was testing Anon's awareness. But it seemed Anon had seen through his deception!

"But mixed among those traps are some real locations of the sealed escape rooms... You should be able to see the real versus the fake. You can still save your family!"

"I'm good."

"... What?"

"I said. I'm good."

The Commander had put so much effort into this test. But Anon refused to play along at all! He felt as if he had wasted his time. He did get some interesting information in interrogation from Anon's parents and family. But he wanted more.

Anon stood up and was about to leave. But The Commander asked a question.

"Tell me... how did you gain such power?"

Anon smiled.

"Do you really want to know?"
