The Legend of Axiom
Chapter 15: Immunity

Chapter 15: Immunity

"Fuck..."

Anon was completely surrounded by police. They had their guns pointed at him and he was forced to raise his hands. He had an intrusive thought at this moment.

'Do these fools know who they are dealing with?'

He saw two routes he could go down. He could resist like before or he could stop resisting. It didn't matter how fast he was. He would likely become littered with gunshot wounds.

Resistance leads to death.

"Why did I reveal my ability so easily?" Anon thought something was wrong with him. His intention was to hide his abilities. But his actions were oddly contradictory.

"Why am I so emotional?"

Anon had no idea that a hint of the cockiness was imprinted into his soul from when Axiom reconstructed it. A little bit of every concept had become part of his subconscious.

To fight concepts is to go against the rules.

So he subconsciously rejected submitting to authority. He knew deep down that the smartest move was to allow himself to get knocked out from the sedative and then pretend he was just a normal person.

This was the best course of action. Even if he resisted. He would still end up detained, the difference between these two actions was one left traces of the supernatural, the other didn't.

When he made their tasers vanish.

That revealed he had supernatural powers! This was a dumb move.

Soon Anon was shoved to the ground and handcuffed. He was put into a patrol car and driven to the station. He was put in a special interrogation room.

This was just a room with two chairs, a table, and a camera in the corner. There was no one way glass that you might expect.

A detective came in and asked him some simple questions. Anon closed his eyes and relaxed.

The detective left and came back with a cup of water.

"Are you thirsty? Hungry?"

Anon sneered. They probably just wanted to collect his fingerprints and dna... Anon was used to wearing sunglasses to avoid scaring people from his eyes. But now he didn't have them on.

So as the detective talked to him. He had his eyes closed.

"I am not."

"Take this. You might be later..."

Anon didn't take the cup and the detective put it down on the table beside him. He had a folder with him this time. He sorted through the papers and pulled out a document with a few pictures of his apartment in disarray.

"Where were you the night of the explosion?"

Anon remained silent.

"You don't remember an event that made you become homeless?"

Anon didn't answer.

The detective left and came back.

"You assaulted an officer. You are looking at five to ten years at minimum. If you cooperate. We will put a good word in..."

Anon then said:

"I will not answer anymore questions without my lawyer present..."

The detective laughed.

"You think you still have rights? You are a dangerous terrorist." The detective flipped the script in an instant.

"...Fuck."

The detectives phone started to ring. He answered, and listened for awhile.

His face then lost its color.

"I see. Yes sir."

"No! No! That won't be necessary..."

The detective looked at Anon with a weird look.

"You... are free to go..."

"What?"

"We didn't know you were one of 'his' men! I will drive you personally back to your apartment. The evidence will shortly be given back to you. I'm sorry, there was no cross-over and the higher-ups didn't alert us about your special status."

Anon was completely confused. Was he some sort of secret agent!? Why didn't he know?

"I see..."

The detective was so confused. He didn't even have time to pull up the videos of him making the tasers vanish! The videos had mysteriously been corrupted.

They had nothing but he said she said nonsense and the higher-ups gave 'Anon' immunity.

The detective watched Anon leave as his back was covered in sweat. He didn't dare remind him.

"It's a good thing he doesn't seem to have a bad personality..."

----------------------------------------

Anon left the police station and looked around.

He then realized he still didn't have a phone or a ride back to his apartment. So he walked back into the station and nobody seemed to notice him. It was as if they were ignoring his existence.

"Have I entered my axiom state?" Anon wondered.

What he didn't know was that everyone was told that Anon was a part of 'his' team. The living legend who is the true ruler of this country.

Anon found the detective that had questioned him and nearly gave him a heart attack.

"I'll take that ride home..."

"...Oh."

----------------------------------------

The commander was sitting in a medicinal bath when he got a message from his information network.

"Anon has been arrested. Well th-!?"

"Anon has been arrested!? What are those idiots doing?"

The commander waved his hands and the holographic machine installed in his base showed a video of Anon fighting a police officer. He saw two of the perspectives.

"Erase all this evidence."

The artificial intelligence had full permission over almost any server. There were even built-in backdoors that had been placed illegally in private systems.

Soon. Only he had the original files.

"Interesting. It seems he unlocked a type of spatial ability. Perhaps he has the power to displace matter? Wouldn't this mean he can instantly grasp peoples hearts or dislocate their heads? Instant killing!"

"Maybe he can even teleport?"

"Maybe he can create a spatial shield, making him immune to most forms of attack..."

The commander started to think of countermeasures. He watched Anon dodge a bullet and was a little surprised.

"Has he also unlocked the seventh sense? This feels the same."

The commander noted most of his attention to him dodging at all.

"The fact that he showed his ability is..."

"Well... maybe his IQ isn't very high."

"But why did he dodge those attacks? Wouldn't they have been useless?"

The commander realized something from these videos.

"He hasn't mastered his powers yet! He is in his most vulnerable state."

The commander gave immunity to Anon the next second. Soon, his subordinates and the justice system had already dismissed his case.

The commander stood up from his bath and got dressed.

He was contemplating 'meeting' this awakened person. He had so many questions! He had felt it was too dangerous at first. He had thought this was someone who was good at scheming. Somebody with real power that wouldn't settle for being a chess piece.

But this person stupidly reacted in a completely irrational way. They revealed their cards so easily.

"Wait..."

"That's just what he wants me to think!"

The commander felt a chill down his spine. He looked at things from his perspective.

"He is testing the waters. He probably even expected I would give him immunity! He also knew I wouldn't let any of the videos be viewed by others..."

"Him dodging the bullets was just to silence the surrounding officers. He is trying to make me underestimate him!"

"I almost fell into his trap..."

"A genius! No. Maybe he anticipated me seeing through his tricks. He knew it would drive me into a corner of inaction. This entire event was a warning. He is telling me blatantly that he holds the initiative..."

The commander sneered. He had been in control for decades. He easily saw through all of Anon's 'tricks'.

"What a goddamn monster!"

----------------------------------------

Anon sneezed for some reason.

Anon was quite confused and had no idea his actions had left a shocking impression on the 'legend'. If the commander could see the thought process of Anon.

He probably would've had a seizure.

Anon didn't plan for any of that at all!

He was thousands of years old mentally. But he had spent so little of that time interacting with others. Scheming? He had little practice. He solved his problems through brute force!

The most scheming thing he did was tricking his hourglass into a 'time loop'. That acting itself almost broke him.

You could even say Anon's thought process was a little weird. He was one to gamble and be reckless. He had only been rewarded for such behavior so far.
