The girls and I continued our walk towards the dead battle field the place where the orcs were overrun by the human army which had already cut off half of their troops maybe even more,from what I know the slimes are still following those troops towards the place where the artifact was in fact they did find the entrance,but discovered that it was already buried into the ground right now they were guarding that place a lot of the soldiers were digging actually.

The reason we were going to that place were the soldiers overrun the orc village was to salvage the items that they had left behind going to it was very uncomfortable and it felt dirty to do so,but gaining profit for nothing was welcome towards me so it was okay I already expected there to be a lot of creatures eating the dead soldiers and orcs cleaning up,it would also be a good place for the girls to gain experience since the last fight with the giant monster they had,their experience had shot up incredibly most of them were 3 to 2 levels away from evolution while hoboku wasn't even gaining a single bit of experience after killing a big monster on our way to the battle field...

This kinda of made me wonder once again about the use of evolution...I had evolved into a ,but I didn't gain any new skills through that from what I know if you evolve you also gain something new,but right now those changes seemed to be only cosmetic,I couldn't see much of a difference be it personality or ability it didn't change other then the attributes if I compare myself to the slimes they seemed to have gained a bit more then me when it comes to evolution gaining advanced racial abilities...

Wait..racial abilities ?

My mind stopped for a moment thinking about what I just mentioned...yes racial abilities...are those even considered to be skills?

I quickly thought and used my appraisal skill on both and I didn't do this previous because I thought that it would be the same as the description I had the first time when I appraised my race as a normal but now the skill had leveled up a few times,I wanna see how different it is.

Through troubles and high care the stands out of everyones reach being a pure blond from predecessor sly and cunning thoughtful and intelligent it has the natural ability of that allows it to be make others naturally more kind to itself and rather alluring too to the opposite sex a simple touch can cause the opposite being to feel warmth and intimacy,the also possesses the ability that halves the magic damage on contact it is immune to soul damaging spells or spells that concern mental status effects such as or etc.

A being that has come out of the darkest part of the world it is very vicious and evil,but its also calm at the same time highly intellectual and decently strong on itself possessing the ability called that allows it to strike fear in its opponent who weaker or dumbed then itself through simple presence it is immune to any kind of dark magic or poison and is capable of asphyxia someone through fear too it possesses the ability which has one random effect on every being ,,,,,, etc.

The information I was getting through the appraisal result was astound and it also made me realize something about last nights dance and why those woman started to blush after I would lead them to dance...my natural racial ability was on effect in that night hoboku also unconsciously was activating her ability even now I sometimes could see a few monsters cower in fear or run away when meeting up with hoboku the explanations of the race was also a bit disturbing it made me wonder for a bit as I looked at hoboku and asked her.

-Hoboku are you evil ?

Hoboku stopped for a moment looking at me as I had ludicrous the others were evenly as surprised why I asked such question we ended up in a stand still because of me too...

Hoboku suddenly smiled lewdly and asked...

-Do you want me to be ?

Some of the girls hearing hoboku's reply just shook their heads and like so we continued walking...Yes,...she is definitely evil..

I sighed and continued walking as the center of the group...the explanations were a bit so-so right now,but knowing that natural abilities don't count as actual skills is good to know it shows that evolution really does have its own benefits...

Going like this we continued to walk through the forest towards the dead battle field...the girls were fighting non-stop the onslaught of the beasts was getting heavier every moment the more we were coming closer to the field the stench of rot and blood was heavy in the air we also found a road made out of foot prints made by the army it gave us a way to the location we I sought after,but also a clear sight on us for the beasts to jump towards which wasn't a problem since I could us my to freeze a certain perimeter to stop a few monsters and let another few go through and get slaughtered by the female hobgoblins...this was truly an experience grinder,it wasn't surprising with the amount of dead bodies ahead in which the stench was increasingly getting thicker and nastier then before the girls didn't seem to care a single bit,but I was different then them and was nauseated slightly...why can't my natural ability be something more external then internal !

With those thoughts we finally got the dead battle field raising on a small hill I could see dozens of monsters going through this graveyard of corpses and fight with each other...the scene was really astounding our arrival had also caught the attention of a lot of predators that were here they were looking at us with their scary glowing red eyes looking at us as we were some kind of food...the fight would truly begin now...

I thought and just as I was about to activate my a large shadow went over us...the shadow was surprising and when I looked up I realized that something was flying in the air it looked like a hawk to me,but it was way to big to be a hawk the size was comparable to the size of 2 mini-vans with sharp claws and long wings the length of 4.5 meters at least...its feathers were a red-black color from what I could tell.

The appearance of the huge bird had made a lot of the predators in the area scared resulting in them to scram in fear of their lives...the rule of the beasts was always the same the weak become food while the strong eat...this kind of scene was predictable and this bird interested me quite a lot...I wanted it.

The bird flew a few times in circles around the sky the girls had long since noticed and were getting ready to fight hoboku was even aiming her spell towards it,but I stopped her which puzzled her a lot,but she obligated and watched what I was about to do.

(Cry)

A majestic and strong cry resounded throughout the sky the bird was preparing to come down and as it did the light reflected the giant birds feathers and also its noble statue that was descending onto the bloody ground to have its feast.

Getting down the bird obviously had already noticed us it didn't attack us though and just ignored us as if giving us some mercy while it ate,but then the immediately dodged when it felt a huge amount of danger coming its way....a large ice spike had flew towards it,but it had dodged for the last second and looked at us once again this time enraged...it was mainly looking at me...the one who had shot the ice spike the reason it knew that I was the shooter was because it saw the giant ice spike above me.

It didn't move and just watched me both of us were focusing on each other staring into one anothers eyes and I could see that the bird was actually quiet intelligent because of the way it was looking at me..not adult human level smart,but more like a child it was following its instincts at the moment and those instincts probably told it to me careful.

I stepped forward the female hobgoblins followed suit after we walked towards the bird halfway through I told them to stay where they were and let me go myself.

Hearing this everyone was totally against it,it couldn't be helped that everyone was slightly intimidated by the bird because of it huge statue and having me go alone scared the girls even more then the bird.

-ENOUGH you don't decide what I can and cannot do I am saying that you are supposed to wait here while I go there do you understand ?

My sudden shout had brought a lot of surprise through everyone hearing my angered tone they also stopped arguing with me with small amount of fear and shame striking through their eyes I knew that they meant good with what they wanted,but restricting me and telling me what to do isn't something they should be concerned with right now.

I stepped forward and as I did hobura jumped in front of me...I was surprised really...she was openly revolting and hindering me to go...

-What are you doing ? get out of the way...

-...

Hobura didn't say anything and just stood there her arms open wide I ignored her and stepped aside she followed as expected though.

I looked at her face...her expression was very hard and looked as if she was almost about to cry it made my heart waver a lot without a stop too.

I sighed...

-Hobura do you think I am weak ?

The sudden question had hobura and the other taken a back...hobura looked very conflicted as she answered me.

-No,I don't I...

-Then why are you stopping me ? are you telling me I am weaker then this bird ?Do you think I will lose ?

My barrage of questions assaulted hobura she looked very shamed and had her head down she was shivering with no end to it,but didn't cry and held strong looking at me with conviction.

-No ! I know you are strong lord sorron stronger then most of us,but I think that what you are doing now is foolish !

Everyone gasped when they heard what hobura said...she was basically calling me a fool,but I didn't mind what surprised me rather was that it was coming from her mouth.

I laughed it wasn't a mad laugh nor a ironic one nor was it a sarcastic laugh...it was a amused laugh which hobura was quiet confused about.

-I am foolish you think,but let me tell you this you need to take risks when you want to get stronger the reason I am strong is because I took those risks sometimes,you also fought everyday risking your life to gain experience isn't that on its own a risk ? Do you think that from now I will have to make you all stop hunting those beasts just because I am scared of your lives ? Even after the mistake hoboku did almost making you all lose your lives I never said that you should stop I only said that you should be careful,underestimating a small and weaker beast is understandable,but even that small and weaker beast holdings razor sharp fangs if it bites you then its over do you think because of that I should stop you from going out and hunt those small beasts ?

Hobura stuttered she slumped down onto her knees and you could see a single tear falling down her eye she couldn't take the questions that I was asking her the answers to those was far too contradictory for her to answer me properly since the reason she was doing this was simply because of personal reasons which was to protect me.

Everyone behind me very well understood what they wanted to do and why they were this contradictory I also felt incredibly bad because of this and when I saw her tear I felt like hitting myself for going this far...

I knelt down towards hobura my eyes were serene and calm I didn't smile and just wiped the tear off her cheek and hugged the sniffing hobura onto my chest stroking her back how many times has it been since they repeatedly been using this same argument against me...it always gave me a bitter taste on my mouth because what they say is very correct...I am weak...that will never change one hit can kill me and the female hobgoblins are the whole reason why they are even here they are my protectors my shields and armor even my potent weapon at the same time and thats why I don't want them to suffer either going all together may seem to be the most best choice,but if someone got hurt and would die I wouldn't be able to take it...I would fall into utter despair even if I lost 1 of them they all already grew way too much onto my soul to be able to be dismissed so suddenly...

Both of us were doing the same thing,but only one of us had the means to twist their words as hobura continued to sniff onto my chest hugging me and slowly calming down...

She didn't say anything nor did I say anything and another few seconds she stopped and let me go the others also hugged hobura and started to comfort her a bit more.

Hoboku still stared at my walking back and also at the huge bird that was still standing there as if it was nailed on the ground it didn't attack nor did it go away it waited...it waited for me to go forward and accept the challenge.

Hoboku had her hand open the whole time she was getting ready to cast her spell at any time in a sense of meaning hoboku would be the very first of the girls who would go against my words without a thought until now she never had done it openly before,but that was always because she never needed to and it was always because of me really and now she also doesn't need to go against me I would finish this and get what I wanted.

-Bird join me or die...

I said simply the distance between me and the bird was 10 meters,but I knew that it had heard me.

-You,human ? No you aren't smell different from human...a lord ?

The bird guessed totally ignoring what I just said and just staring at me...there was a reason why I wanted to go alone one is to protect the girls and the second is to fight the bird one on one and gain its loyalty if I used everyone else in this fight then it would most likely only enraged to have lost to numbers and not by me.

The main reason I wanted this bird was because of the mobility it could give me it would impact the power of my group hugely and also open up a mean of quick transportation going by foot is a problem to me and this bird can solve the problem with its back.

-Aren't you listening ? Join me or die which is it ? If you don't answer then I take it that you want to die...

The bird looked a bit amused seeing me talk so big as it replied not even surprised that I could talk in its tongue.

-If you want me to join you then beat me little lord I am the master of the mountain ! You can't win !

The bird said proudly flapping its majestic wings while saying so.

I smiled and answered.

-I am not a little lord I am a remember that when you get pushed to the ground !
