Chapter 66 Student Becomes The Master

Chapter 66 Student Becomes The Master

In about 3 or 4 hours the female hobgoblins will go out and start hunting again for now we didn’t have anything urgent to do I was planning to visit the dark elf village in about 2 days or so before that I figured that training would probably be the way to go, I also wanted to start doing my research again.

Leaving the 5 pups alone I sat down on the field and thought about my and , they are very synergistic with each other because of the the spells that I had which were and it basically allows me to create anything I want through ice in a specific area which was currently a 50 meter radius for me until now the mastery of both skills had been raised to LvL.7 giving me a lot of control. I also experimented with this previously and figured out a lot of ways to use these skills, if you think about it I should already know most of the things that there is to know about this magic, but there is a point in these skills that I really do not understand…

It was the spell itself, Currently I only have 1 spell on each magic type making it a total of 2 spells the mastery of the skills were decently high so I couldn’t understand why it wasn’t allowing me to use other spells or create the so called “Spells” it was confusing and mind boggling since I never attended the Magic science class in my world…which doesn’t exist.

-Maybe I am just overlooking something…

I muttered trying to understand what I am overlooking… if the magic element itself isn’t going to give me any spells through level ups does that mean I need learn those spells? If so how do I learn them?

-hmm

I sighed, this wasn’t getting me anywhere, thinking about RPG’s you normally learn skills from skill books or instructors there are even games where you automatically learn those spells through level ups which I actually expected to happen, but this… wait… Books? Instructors…

Don’t I have both of these things?

I was getting onto something and it was also worth checking why I didn’t think about this the first time? Maybe it was because I thought that I could do everything on my own, but that’s wrong.

Thinking like this I quickly stood up from my seat and started to walk towards the cave with an idea in mind, getting inside I quickly searched for the individual I thought would be able to help me and like that I walked inside the middle of the cave finding 3 female hobgoblins sitting on the ground and listening to hoboku who was lecturing them about magic theory, bingo.

-The flow of mana is import and also very easily disturbed if you don’t have a proper grip on it, it is vital for shaping a spell you want to create on your own and you should always… lord sorron ?

The 3 female hobgoblins were confused by their teachers sudden way of speech, not sure what she meant by that or why I was relevant to magic, but they realized that something was wrong and that hoboku was staring somewhere else, following the look she was pointing towards they found me standing a few meters away behind a small boulder listening in on them on their lecture…

Getting caught red handed I made my way towards them with a smile on my face my appearance seemed to have been sudden and not something hoboku expected, nonetheless she seemed very happy about my appearance either way so were the other 3 who smiled at me greeting me with a wave.

-Lord sorron do you need some kind of help?

Hoboku asked lowering the staff she was holding which she used as a pointer to indicate the inscriptions on the walls that showed some kind of circle? A magic circle?

Hoboku noticed the way I was staring at the magic circle and immediately figured out why I was here she quickly got up to me and pulled me towards her little study group telling me to sit next to the others and listen into the study, I didn’t need to explain myself since hoboku and the rest seemed to have figured out what I needed which was to know more about magic, we all were here because of that particular reason after all.

With a new student hoboku made a very satisfied face and started to once again restarting the whole lecture just for me to understand it, the others didn’t seem to mind that at all and seemed a bit more distracted by me then the lecture itself hasumi and hakuro were both sitting next to me their bodies very close almost touching even, their rate of breathing was a bit rough both of them trying to hide it which was a bit funny hobuha who sitting at the end next to hakuro seemed to be a bit disappointed she looked at me a couple times dreamily, but didn’t voice it and listened to the lecture attentively like I was doing.

Hoboku’s lecture was eye opening for me since she explained to me terms and mechanics which were completely unknown to me for the very first time I genuinely felt like this really was a different world, not that I didn’t feel like it the moment I got here it’s just that, magic was something that was pretty much a myth in my world, an art of fiction dreamed by people, but here it was reality an everyday occurrence and a way of life which I understood clearly by hoboku’s lecture.

This in particular also showed me a complete different side of hoboku, a studious and hard working side, which I liked, I knew that she was hardworking, but I didn’t know that she liked books this much, I wasn’t really paying attention on what she did with the books that I gave her access to because I couldn’t really read them myself, but through these books hoboku seemed to have made a lot of breakthroughs and understand this particular subject.

Getting back on track I could finally understand why I wasn’t getting any spells, it was a simple answer which hoboku told me when I asked, spells had to be learned or created on their own, apart from the first spell the rest of the spells couldn’t be simply acquired just by leveling up you needed to understand “Mana Mastery” properly and make use of it to weave a spell and create it.

Fun fact the first spell we chose in our magic element seems to serve as a template and foundation to understand properly and make the next spell, it’s a bit complicated and also something I wouldn’t have really thought of.

As I said before you need “Mana Mastery” to be able to make a spell, you also need this skill to be able to “see through” a spell and its structure which is why the first spell we get serves as a template or foundation for a second spell it’s to understand how engineering works in such process and make your own version of a spell a bit different than the first. I didn’t expect a skill such as “Mana Mastery” to be this important, up until now I always believed that it served as a cooldown reduction or reaction speed increaser for spells, but it also had this kind of function which I wouldn’t have known of without hoboku.

With this kind of introduction hoboku continued on and explained to me how to “see through” a spell using the “Mana Mastery” skill. With that said she started to tell everyone to begin practicing on their own and draw their first spell circle on the ground I also joined in and sat cross legged my hands on my hip and with my eyes closed I started to do the things hoboku had previously explained to me about seeing through a spell, the explanation was a bit hard for me since I barely understood what she meant by trying to focus on the shape of my first spell, but I did it anyways and tried to think of mana as life force or some kind of energy seeping into my head and showing me the magic circle of the spell I was a bit doubtful if it would work, but after a few minutes something like a light started to appear in my mind.

The light was faint at first the appearance of it was a surprise, but I didn’t falter and started to concentrate on it a bit harder which made the light expand even more and after another 10 minutes the shining light blue circle of the spell finally appeared in my head… it was bizarre and had a lot of lines and shapes which were hard to remember or to draw with my off hand while keeping the imagine inside of my head it seemed really impossible for me to draw it fully on the ground without making a mistake so I immediately gave up on it and opened my eyes.

-Ehh ?

The moment I opened my eyes I realized that everyone was staring at me very intensely it made me surprised for a bit, but I recovered and wondered if something was wrong.

-Lord sorron did you manage ?

Hoboku asked very hopeful for some reason the others were evenly making the same expression in which I explained.

-I did see the circle and your right its pretty complicated, drawing it will take a while, but I understand what you meant by it now… the shapes and lines are something that make the spell work aren’t they?

Hoboku nodded to my question, quickly explaining what the shapes and lines in the magic circle individually do, it was a lot to remember actually since this magic circle engineering seemed to be something like a completely different language, with its own rules there are squares and lines that determine the shape and size of the spell and there are circles and triangles that give movement and command to a spell, the lines in particular seem to be bridges which controls what kind of pattern a spell follows, it was a very interesting subject and at the end hoboku even told me that we had a book that focused on , the book seemed to have had the spells and magic circles drawn on the pages meaning that I didn’t really need to read the explanation of the spells for now and just learn them and then let hoboku explain it to me. I was surprised that we had such a book, but hoboku explained to me that was one of the most common elements so it wasn’t shocking to find a book about it in the pile of other books, it made me happy that we had the book, but I also felt that the girls had it hard since they needed to make their spells on their own which was probably going to be a pain in the ass, even now hoboku said that she was working on a spell, but still didn’t finish it just yet because it wasn’t working the way she wanted it to, the others were in a similar situation trying to make spells which would work properly, it was hard since their elements were something very rare and not really commonly explored like my was, having an instructor for this kind of situation seemed to be the easiest way, but the probability of finding someone like that was very slim, on top of that we were still in the forest not even close to civilization.

In the end hasumi, hakuro, hobuha and I continued to listen to hoboku and her lecture, I found out a lot of things I didn’t know before with the help of hoboku.

Even though I often rely on the female hobgoblins I only rely on their battle power and not personal knowledge at the start of this I was the master, but it seems like the wheels had turned and the student became the master.

We continued like this for about 3 hours or so until it was time for them to go hunting.
