The giant snake hissed sharply momentarily making my mind go blank as I stared at its gigantic form temporarily dumbfounded by its appearance,my heart was as if it had stopped beating for a split second feeling the intimidating aura of this king like beast between the woods,its dark green scales lustering through the sun shine covering its entire body with acid like poison coming out of its sharp and mighty fangs,I felt my heart accelerating faster every second I continued to watch this snake a deep uncomfortable feeling rising inside my heart that could not be explained so easily.

The first thing I thought when looking at this giant snake was inevitably the king of serpents.

The basilisk.

There wasn't a particular reason why I thought like that,the only reason I would think of the basilisk in particular would be because I am novelist and write a lot of fantasies which included mythological creatures,but another strong point to note is that somewhere deep inside my head something unexpectedly clicked when looking at this creatures,its as if I instinctively knew what kind of monster it was just through a glance which was sort of weird and stupid.

Of course I could be very wrong though and this could also be just a gigantic pissed off wild snake that lived inside this forest,but at the same time the strings of my heart started to shake violently when I stared at this beast,for some reason I just couldn't help,but recall the look the white ape had when we first fought against it,this snake had that very same crazed and enraged look on its monstrous face the eyes in particular shone with a crimson red color as if they were seeing onlt blood and nothing else showing very heavily that it wasn't trying to play with its food.

It was trying to make it suffer so much that it would prefer death.

And this is when another point of realization started to kick in that I understood.

We can't possibly defeat this monster on our own.

(WRAAARRGHHHHH)

-ughh...

I groaned a bit taken a back by the monstrous roar of the giant snake,the roar was strong and even though I wasn't there personally I could still hear it through the transmission link between the slime and me it didn't hurt me or anything,but it still gave me a pulse of electricity that ran through every part of my veins making me dizzy momentarily for a few seconds.

And it wasn't only me,the three beastmen that were running from the beast also couldn't resist the terrifying roar the basilisk like monster made,the 3 of them were now standing still suddenly stopping in their tracks as they held their ears shut trying to keep going and resist the excruciating roar the snake was making,but still failing as it was too much for them to resist.

From a close distance away I could even see the black hair beastman starting to bleed from his nose because of the pressuring roar,normally I roar wouldn't cause such internal damage to someone like this,but listening to it I immediately recognized it as it wasn't an ordinary roar,but a skill altogether a familiar skill that I even I possessed myself which was I didn't know if the snake is considered a dragon or not maybe it was different closely related skill,but since it used such a unique skill with such strength I could immediately guess that it was a beast that came from the core zone of the forest most likely the outskirts which explained its over all strength and demeanor that I felt when seeing it.

-They are going to die

I muttered to myself being of these words as I continued to watch calmly,the situation was getting to a far more different path then I originally assumed it go,it seemed as if this was the end for the beastmen altogether only the black one was still standing on his legs while the white and golden one already stumbled down onto their knees about to fall down entirely maybe even pass out from the amount of pressure the roar was producing truly regretful in their case,but what could be done really ?.

-No,maybe I can...

I thought for a very brief second,quickly shaking my head as I shook off that foolish idea of mine,helping them was like asking a death wish this giant snake thing was obviously extremely pissed right now,it wouldn't have chased these 3 all the way until here just to get its revenge for,getting involved with this wasn't smart the only I needed to do was to shut my eyes and call blondy so I could warn them about the snake,I had no reason to get involved and its not my fault that they ended up foolishly like that,they should have gauge'd their strength with that of the basilisk before doing something like this...serves them right.

I gritted my teeth thinking of something very dark as I couldn't continue watching anymore and was just about to cut my connection towards the slime until suddenly something unexpected occurred.

-Stand up we are not going to die here,STAND UP ! I AM TELLING YOU TO STAND UP!

The golden haired girls shouted out,her shout was sudden and surprisingly bold,full of commanding demeanor as if she was some kind of ruler that kind of disposition mostly reminded me of rimulu,but at the same time it was a bit different.

The other two beastmen also seemed to have been momentarily moved by this girl the white one in particular raised his head towards the girl,looking at him I could see that he was exceptionally handsome,but currently other then his fearful and defeated look there was only a mocking grin on he face as he faced the golden hair beast girl,some way or another I was annoyed by that white beastmen's grin,it was that kind of grin that showed that he had fully given up hope already an attitude that I didn't quite like all too much no rather despised as I had experienced such hopelessness countless times in my life already,but still refused to give in.

Watching the golden haired beast girl I could tell that she was also thinking the same thing as me while glancing at her white haired companion with a stiff look on her face,she didn't voice her displeasure at this moment,but still showed it with her intimidating glare which forced the white haired beastman to quickly stand up again surprisingly still able to stand after receiving such a power roar attack from the giant snake,the black one seemed to be most disciplined out of the three as he never even bend his legs or blinked his eyes at the giant snake and another thing I did notice though was the way he was looking at the beast.

He didn't directly stare at its eyes,I cannot say if this is proof that it really is a basilisk or its just that he was coward,but for one reason or another I refused to believe he was a coward as the way he held himself was just too solid and proud,his eyes showing an iron will facing a opponent much stronger then him knowing that he might get killed,but faces it anyways,it sort of reminded me of rokuten...a show of a true warrior.

-Valkrive take princess leona and flee,I will fight the basilisk and stall some time for both of you,we can't continue running like this the basilisk has far too much stamina then we have and he is faster too,if I fight him and buy some time I am sure you can...

-NO ! Belore,I refuse to leave you behind ! We will fight together and leave together no matter what !

The golden haired princess refused,the word "princess" in particular caught my attention,it was something very surprising to hear since I wouldn't expect a princess from the beastmen kingdom to be in this deadly forest with just 2 people protecting her it made me also sort of rethink of what should be done but...

Still.

In the end,it still didn't matter too much,they were in a predicament sacrificing one person for the lives of the others was a valid choice to escape even I made this kind of choice once when we faced the succubus and were about to get killed so I can't say that the black one is foolish or smart by doing what he wants to do right now,the golden haired girl was very against such tactics making me think that they were close to one another for her to be this resolute even when facing death.

After the small exchange of words the atmosphere suddenly turned silent only the sound of the serpent could be heard as it hissed in a hostile tone,since the roar it had been staying in its position the while time watching the 3 beastmen cautiously,it was really one of the things that confused me as it was strange why it hadn't attacked up until now even though it was obviously much more stronger then these 3 combined,I couldn't tell if it was just being overly cautious or if there was something else it was after that made it rethink its approach...wait.

I stopped thinking momentarily,quickly staring back towards the 3 beastman looking for something...

And sure enough there it was !

A light green egg strapped onto the back of the white haired beastman.

At first,I didn't quite recognize it to be an egg through all of this dilemma and only thought it was some kind of armor or storage device really which is why I ignored it at first,but after looking at it more properly I immediately saw the connection between the serpent,the egg and the reason why the serpent was acting so cautious.

These three stole the baby of this mother serpent.

It was truly moronic and righteous in a way,the mother simply wanted her child back that was kidnapped from 3 random individuals,I don't know the parenting of the animals in this forest,but do understand that magical beasts like these act completely different when it comes to teaching their children and keeping them safe from harm as they are all very intelligent since they are magical beasts so it comes to me to no surprise why the serpent was so enraged right now and if they were half as smart as I am crediting them to be they would simply throw the egg somewhere far away and then run the other way so the serpent wouldn't follow them.

Knowing the sturdiness of real snake eggs and comparing them to magical beast eggs I doubt they would break when they are thrown and adding to the fact that the whole forest was pretty much full of trees everywhere I would think that one of those threes would catch such a huge egg which could act as a patting too.

Which begs the question.

Why aren't they throwing that damn egg,for whatever it was worth it cannot be possibly more worth then their lives now could it ?

I considered,my eyes now fully concentrated on these three as I felt an sharp itch starting to gather between my eyebrows,the look in their eyes said it all...they weren't going to throw the egg away,I wasn't sure if they even thought of doing such thing for once I really certain that the white one must have thought something like that as he is constantly fiddling with the egg behind him glancing at it and then back at the serpent showing that he isn't a complete retard,but still he is hesitating.

In either case time was already ticking and it wasn't benevolent as the snake suddenly started to move again its hiss invoking a intimidating atmosphere while approaching the three its head constantly lowering as if it was trying to make them look into its red eyes in which I also wondered...does it affect me too ?

First of all the slimes don't have eyes,I am also not really personally looking into the eyes of the serpent myself,but using the slime to look into its eyes from a very long distance and from what I know about basilisk's in general they kill anything that looks into their eyes directly,if you use a mirror or anything that reflects images and then look into its through that then the stare is only going to petrify you which was already very scary...

So since I am using a reflection to look into the serpents eyes does it mean that I will get petrified ?

The question and the attempt were obviously very dangerous,but I had already looking into its eyes when it first appeared and up until now I haven't felt anything close to of that sort it could also be that my racial skill is hindering me from petrifying since it blocks any negative effect on my body would a status effect meaning that it isn't a killing effect since it gets blocked by my .

These things were dangerous assumptions really,something that I am not quite willing to test even for the sake of science as I value my life quite a lot,I could ask hoboku to help me since her has the effect and I am also very sure that hoboku would ever try to do such a think as it could end up badly if I am wrong,

-Belore,I won't leave and as your princess I order you to never speak such nonsense ever again,we will fight together I will not let you waste your life meaninglessly just for a single item !

The golden haired princess declared,her way of speaking was very refined indeed,but it also had a hint of fighting spirit in it that didn't befit a girl of her statue,the black haired beastman didn't say anything in return,he seemed rather annoyed by this princess of his and only glanced at the white haired beastman who carried the egg with a meaningful look in his eyes...the white beastman seemed surprised,by that glare,but quickly sighed in a frustrated and helpless manner nodding towards his black haired friend.

The serpent was already very close to them neither sides had done any lethal or damaging moves yet,but from the way both of the sides looked at each other,it was clear that fighting would be happening.

The only thing was who would survive ?

My money was on the serpent no question asked I sort of even sympathized with the mother serpent more then the beastman as she was the victim here and surprisingly not the other way around what the beastmen would do now was something even I couldn't predict...

-Throw the egg already why are you keeping it...

I mumbled to myself,I was already watching this for far too long the girls were probably already ready to leave and near me I could feel someone pulling my hand down bellow making me assume that it was rimulu being impatient.

Yet again,I was close to severing the contact between me and the slime,but just as I was about do that I suddenly saw a very shine coming from the little group of beastman !

-Her golden hair....its shining !?

I exclaimed to myself a bit surprised watching the golden haired girl standing in a robust stance her hair shining like a golden radiance getting brighter and brighter while her two friends started to slowly step back from her showing the same surprised looks on their faces almost predicting what was about to happen next.

Unfortunately enough,I couldn't see what was about to happen the moment the shine got too bright the connection between me and the slime was severed,the slime had died unexpectedly how it died was unknown,but when I finally came back to myself I could see a tower of black smoke rising far from the east.

-What is going on ?!
