After defeating rokuten I became the new ruler of the town,the kobolds seemed to fear me quiet a bit for some reason so I didn't prematurely confront them to anything that would make them even more jumpy in fact I actually gave the leadership of the town back to rokuten the previous leader.

-But...but why ? Isn't this what you wanted my lord ?

He asked me surprised,we were sitting inside his house right now discussing about the village rokuten became a very loyal subject to me and laughed a lot in my presence his injuries were all healed making him look like new,but still you could see a distinctive scar on his right cheek that he asked not to be healed,we even drunk a few cups of alcohol and talked for a bit,rokuten was 70 this year even though he was old in my opinion for kobolds this kind of age is considered average meaning that he is actually a middle aged man or younger,surprisingly a kobold lives a pretty long life span for about 250 years or so,but because adventurers and other hostile factions come and attack them sometimes most of the kobolds don't get to live long past 40 or 50 years rokuten is considered one of the most experienced and powerful warriors in this village he is also the second oldest,the oldest of this village being another guy called rohimen who is 96 years old,he is also the guy who I had crossed eyes with while walking through the village the blacksmith.

On a side note every kobolds name starts with a "Ro" its the same principle as the goblins really.

-Don't misunderstand rokuten I am still your leader and I will also help you and your people and protect your village as you will follow my orders,its just that sometimes I won't be around,thats why when I am absent I want you to take control of the village and when I am inside the village I want you to be my advisor or my aid and explain to me the situation,you understand ? Just as I was drinking my cup of alcohol one of the surveillance suddenly called me with a emergency.

-My lord ! there are troops approaching the place you are in right now !

I immediately choked on my drink this sudden fluke of mine made rokuten a bit surprised as he tried to calm me down for a second,I didn't wait a moment and quickly asked the slimes of how many there were and also linked up with one of them to see what they were...

As I linked with one of the surveillance slimes I saw the quick approach of hundreds of silhouette running through the thick forest...most of them held some kind of bladed weapon be it short or long while others were unarmed,their armor was mostly cloth or leather their eyes also glinted with a light brown glow their fur was gray and short their fangs were directly visible to me growing down looking like rat fangs their facial appearance was also no different from a rat or a mouse.

-Ratmen ?

I muttered to myself,rokuten who was standing next to me seemed to have heard my words and immediately got slightly alarmed asking me.

-What is the matter my lord ?

I ended the transmission link and turned towards rokuten explaining him that currently a large amount of ratmen were charging towards us their numbers were close to 100 to 150 half of them armed and armored,their intent was clear,they wanted to destroy and pillage the village.

Hearing my words rokuten got obviously very stunned this amount of enemies was astounding and very unexpected as a leader though he kept his calm and analyzed what was going on.

-These ratmen are probably from the northern tribe two weeks ago my hunting group and their group had a small encounter inside the forest originally we wanted to ignore them,but the ratmen attacked us out of nowhere so we had to retaliate killing most of them,but some managed to escape...they must be coming here for revenge...

Rokuten answered bitterly gritting his teeth while thinking hard while he was doing that I turned around and started to leave the hut rokuten saw me leave and followed along asking me.

-What are you going to do ?

I smiled and told him.

-Obviously we are going to fight,running isn't a option here and don't forget you have me and my companions around

Seeing my confident smile made rokuten a bit surprised,but at the same time it seemed to have encouraged him some more giving him hope and spirit as he nodded towards me with a iron like determination crossing his eyes.

I also didn't blabber anymore and walked towards my companions while issuing my orders towards rokuten and the girls.

The wind blew strongly today as I stood on top of the wooden wall looking out towards the massive field outside the walls towards the outskirts of the forest with a expecting look on my face.

Next to my right stood rokuten while on my left was hoboku both of them had a solemn on their faces and beside us were a lot more kobolds lined up standing with their crossbows held tight in position in front of these walls were also other kobold warriors and the girls standing by waiting patiently with their weapons drawn,in the front of this melee group stood hobura holding her big buster sword on her shoulder with a clear look on her face waiting.

The forest on the outskirts seemed quiet,but suddenly not too far a small bustling sound could be heard starting to get louder every moment,the stomping and marching was followed by the sound of battle cries and shouts until finally dozens of silhouettes came out storming from the edge of the forest revealing themselves with a feral look in their eyes.

Rokuten who was standing beside me grunted slightly perplexed he glanced at me for a moment to see what my reaction to this was,but when he looked he only saw a very deep blizzard welling up inside my eyes and a look of indifference.

-FIRE !

I shouted loudly the arbalists quickly followed my order and pulled their trigger to the crossbow creating a small rain of bolts crashing down onto the army of ratmen significantly slowly down their speedy approach to us.

Without losing a beat I started channeling my own magic while the arbalists reloaded their bolts hoboku who stood by my side was already firing off her spells devastatingly hit multiple ratmen with one shot the other spell casters who were standing farther away also fired off their spells creating chaos in the battle field as it was covered with explosions and bloody limps everywhere.

-ughhh...

Rokuten who was standing by my side was astonished and also terrified so were the other kobolds looking at the battlefield with a very complex and also fearful look in their eyes,right now everyone seemed to be glad that we were on their side and not the other way around Rokuten also saw the extend of power I currently held and felt a bit complicated with himself probably thinking about our exchange and what would have happened if I would have actually fought his village or replaced myself with one of the girls to fight against him.

Not good...that was the word I would have used if I had to describe his current expression and also the one the other kobolds held,the arbalists were even slightly dazed almost forgetting about their task and quickly snapping back reloading their crossbows.

Their reaction was fun to look at,but I refrained from fooling around anymore and also started to get a bit more forceful,their numbers were indeed very big if I wouldn't have been here the kobolds probably couldn't have dealt with this amount of enemies since the village had only a total amount of 186 people half of which were children and woman and the other half warriors which were 91 males some even in training right now.

With their current amount they would have survived this onslaught of enemies it was truly a blessing that I came,not that I want to sound arrogant or anything.

Thinking like this I finally finished my preparations for the spell and activated it on the spot flinging a giant frost storm towards the enemies side and making their approach even more problematic while freezing them and also killing a significant amount of them.

Seeing this huge problem the ratmen decided to take a flanking approach,but the girls and the kobolds always cut them off and hindered them from getting away killing off the remaining few who tried to move away or get too close to the base.

While this was happening a very pleasant event occurred which was followed by the sound of the notification box.

Seeing the level up notifications was always pleasant since until now I always concentrated on having the girls become strong to act as my guardians strengthening myself was also good,for my own protection of course which would also expand my mana pool,but other then that there was no immediate usefulness to me leveling up or anything while the girls had far much more better uses for it,still gaining a new skill called took effect immediately and let me see far away in a more detailed manner which was convenient too.

I pushed the notifications away and once again concentrated on the battle field,I wasn't worried that anyone would attack us from behind or any other side since I also placed some amount of soldiers on all sides to defend,if anything urgent would occur then the slimes would also notify me of its presents too giving me enough time to react to anything that would happen of course.

I continued to lower the temperature on the enemies side,killing half of them already as the ratmen slowly started to realize that they weren't going to win this fight some of them deciding to flee instead of continuing the meaningless fight having them flee was unavoidable,but nothing to be worried about,I told hobura and the girls in the front lines to go and capture a few ratmen for interrogation,they quickly acted and brought away 6 ratmen clubbing them uncoscious and bringing them back the fight concluded like this very anticlimactic for the enemies side.

-We...we won...

Rokuten muttered to himself half astonished and half stunned from what just happened in front of him the kobolds were evenly as shocked most of them scratching their heads with a wryly smile on their faces,honestly said the girls were the ones who had contributed to the fight the most,the kobolds could only give some small support,but still they didn't feel bad about it instead they felt glad that they were still alive without losing anyone,it was almost like a miracle,but at the same time it was really not.
