Chapter 51 something worth the price

Chapter 51 something worth the price

Jake was still lying on the ground when his eyes opened in agony, his body convulsing as he screamed out in pain. To Jake, this was nothing, as he remembered the last message he received from the system before he lost consciousness. The screaming went on for ten hours till Jake’s voice finally gave out, then a red tear round down his cheek.

“Congratulations on reaching F grade,” Franky said. Jake just grunted as he tried to sit up.

“Don’t move, your body is only just holding together. I don’t know if you can change forms, but I would recommend you don’t try.”

Jake took another look at his notifications, searching for anything to do with his demon form.

Notification

Atomic degradation has occurred to your human form. Demon form locked active till your human form has recovered.

“Fucken hell.” Jake grunted through his cracked and ash flaked lips. “I’m never using that skill again.”

“What happened to you?” Elizabeth asked then in a soft voice, then followed it with the word sorry, but only she could hear that part.

“A skill activated, and I didn’t deactivate it in time. I didn’t realise it would also take time to deactivate.”

“How long was the skill active for? As for us, it seemed to be a short amount of time.”

Jake looked over his notifications again and replied in an irritated tone, “23 seconds. I was over the limit by 3 seconds fucken 3 seconds and I lost almost all of my stats and if it was a second longer, my life as well.”

“What the fuck? What kind of skill could do such a thing?”

“It wasn’t the skill that took my stats. It was the system it interfered to save my life but fuck so many points lost. I don’t know if I can continue with this dungeon,” Jake said in a dejected tone.

“Have you looked to see if there are any changes to your titles or maybe a notification you might have missed?”

Jake looked over his notifications one last time, looking for any glimpse of hope.

Notification

As the first of your species to evolve to F grade, you have been granted a new title

Jake quickly checked his titles.

Title

Atomic man

Your body can now handle a limited amount of atomic degradation before it will begin to be destroyed.

Title

Leader of his generation

As the leader of your generation, you will receive +10 points to all profession and class levels and reduces levels needed to get next grade level by -5

“I can’t believe it. That’s what I got for almost dying. All I get is a plus 10 points and a minus 5 to grade levels. Then there is that atomic bullshit. Fuck this system.”

“A minus 5 is a lot bigger than losing some points.”

“Some points, I lost over 40 million points in all but one of my stats, and you call that some.” Jake got a little too enthused when he started yelling about what he lost as his face cracked open from the side of his mouth to his left eye.

“Fuck, that hurt,” Jake croaked out.

“I will leave someone to watch over you while we look for the boss.” Jake gave him a nod before falling to sleep.

Time passed as Elizabeth watched over Jake. She sat with him as night fell. There was a full moon that night, lighting up most of the street Jake was in. Elizabeth had thought about moving him into a building so that they would be safe but decided against it, as Jake’s body was still in a weak state. She sat down beside him when he began shaking and muttering to himself.

“It must be a dream.” She said when suddenly Jake shot up to a sitting position with both of his hands out in front of him and said something in a language she couldn’t understand she reached over to wake him when from each of his hands a brilliant black crackling orb emerged a second later Jake shouted a word in that language and the two orbs shoot from his hands spiralling through the air before smashing into a behemoth no smaller than the one Jake had already killed. The two orbs screamed as they hit, turning everything they touched to ash. Once the orbs did their jobs, the sleepwalking Jake curled back on the ground, not even realising what had just happened.

“What the fuck is this guy?” Elizabeth said while looking at what’s left of the behemoth

Three days later Jake’s body was mostly back to normal, his skin returned to its normal state that is for a demon with runes all over it. Jake opened his eyes to a notification blinking in his face.

Notification

Jake Everval, the demon of the lost. unconsciously killed a behemoth in a way the system has no ability to monitor. As such, no class levels will be given as the occupant of Jake Everval’s body was not himself at the time of the incident.

Jake looked up from the message to a pair of eyes staring at him in disbelief.

“What did you do? How did you basically one tap that behemoth the other night?” Elizabeth continued her onslaught of questions. Jake only getting the first two before he zoned them out.

“I have no idea.” Jake replied

“What do you mean by that you used a skill I have never seen you use before? It felt like the world was going to end when I saw it. You also talked in a weird language I couldn’t understand.”

“That makes sense, one of my race skills must have been activated while I was asleep. It’s a bit scary, that while I’m unconscious, I can be taken over but I suppose the knowledge that I can take down a behemoth in the future with one shot could be something worth the price after all if it was the skill I think it was it will be nice to see its final form in person.” Jake said as he looked at two of his skills, one new and one old.

“That had to be what did it.” Jake muttered, then went silent for a long time. In his mind he began thinking over the possibilities and how he could get the atomic degradation skill to do something similar but without knowing what exactly happened there was just no way to replicate the actions again especially right now as he hasn’t even used the skill yet.

Jake looked over at Elizabeth and with a smile said, “shall we go test out some skills?”

Elizabeth stood up and said with a grin, “definitely.”

The two sneaked down one street after another till they found another demon door as Jake was calling them now after looking at the runes on the door again. Only he could read them.

“I’ll wait here while you go find the others.” Jake said Elizabeth nodded and left after making sure Jake would be fine being left alone until she got back.

The moment she left, Jake looked back at the door with a grin. “What’s it matter if I give it a try first? Who knows how a dungeon works? Maybe it won’t let me. I need to at least test it right.” Jake walked up to the door, pushing it open and stepping inside. Inside a room stood a man with at least 100 undead in front of him. On seeing this, Jake’s thoughts were limited to two things: one was the man’s level, and the other was training.

Race human undead servant

Grade G

Level 50

Undead servants control hordes of undead for a master. They are weak to physical damage.

After checking the level of the boss, Jake then checked the other undead in the room. To Jake’s slight disappointment, they were all under level 50.

“So, do you speak?” Jake asked, not expecting any reply only for the man to open his mouth as guttural sounds came out, followed by a husky voice.

“Ha. You have fallen into my hands now your death will come quickly at the hands of my Ghouls.”

“So then, nothing of actual value then like, I don’t know. Some wise information on the system or, even better, how to defeat the next floor, boss.”

“You think you can talk your way out of this? No, you will die here, huma–. what exactly are you? Oh, doesn’t matter, anyway. I will just find out from your rotting corpse.”

Jake looked at the man incredulously before he teleported into the man’s shadow and laid a hand on his shoulder, than he activated Atomic degradation. A strange energy passed through Jake’s body and entered the undead servant. Not even a second later, Jake watched as the man’s arm disintegrated into ash and slowly expanded into the man’s torso. Jake placed his other hand on the man’s back, trying to repeat the same actions, but in return, all Jake got was a notification.

Notification

Target has already been inflicted with atomic degradation, a target cannot receive further instances of atomic degradation.

Jake sighed as he charged his fist. Plunging it into the man’s skull, pushing his brain out of his eye sockets, the undead servant crumpled to the ground just as Jake received the kill notification.

Notification

Level two boss defeated. prizes allocated for this level will be stored in the appropriate storage items.

Jake looked at the storage ring he got.

“There better be something good in here.”
