Chapter 54 speed running

Chapter 54 speed running

It had been one and a half years since Jake had seen the door to the boss room on the frog level and by now Jake had quite the grasp of his skills and he even made a stockpile of bombs and weapons that suited his fighting style better than what he had been using before. Jake brought up a quick overview of the items he had made or obtained in the dungeon so far.

Jake had also gained some more levels in grade, class, and profession. This time when Jake’s class reached 1000, he didn’t receive an evolution quest. So it made him wonder when and if that would happen again.

Ten hours later Jake was standing in front of the door not knowing if walking through the door would de-summon his four summons, Jake went into the room alone. Jake ventured into an area that seemed better suited to be located somewhere in South America than in a swamp. Sitting atop three frogs stared down at him. Jake’s eyes drifted over the temple, noticing four heads that he recognised were all stuck on spikes. Looking back at the frogs, Jake gathered some information on them. Just as one started to move.

Seeing the incoming frog Jake broken two objects and teleported behind the second guard dropping a hand grenade then flow up in the air for ten metres before the first explosions happened smoke filled the area around the first frog only for the frog to land on top of the grenade just as it exploded forming a crater two metres deep and five metres wide. The major difference between this version and the old was the old version had more of a fireball, but these new ones have a punch, more of a destructive force. Before the next explosion went off, he teleported down to the ground behind the queen and summoned his lost servants giving them a quick set of instructions then left to strike while the iron was hot teleporting into the smoke he pulled out his new weapons as he jumped alongside the frog firing two rounds at its slim covered face before dropping two more grenades at its feet. Before dashing towards the other frog just after the second grenade went off Jake shot five round into the flames which were followed by screams of pain as the impacts of the five rounds ripped through the frogs defence blowing off each one of its limbs followed by a single impact to the head cutting off the screams at the source. He then turned to look at the first frog that attacked him and just as the hand grenades went off, Jake fired fifteen rounds, blowing the frog apart. Now Jake could concentrate solely on the queen. As she is being held at bay by the four lost servants, Jake setup for his next attack looking over the information the system gave him. His plan was to dash in close to the queen while his lost servants pinned her down, then slowly blow her brains out.

Jake dashed forward just as the four lost servants grabbed a limb, each restricting the queen’s movement for a second as Jake arrived arm outstretched as his hand gun slowly passed the blue shimmering barrier the queen’s eyes went wide as she begged for Jake to stop. He squeezed the trigger, sending round after round into the frog’s brain, only stopping when there was no head to shoot at. Jake then received a notification or two.

“Well, that went better than expected.”

Jake looked around for the bodies of his dead companions so he could give them a proper burial. He found them in a pile of corpses from other poor saps that found themselves in here. Most of them looked to be from the vampiric races. Jake didn’t like the idea he just had, but he couldn’t argue with himself, so he policed up all the usable items the dead people had then went about putting them all to rest. Which took Jake an entire day. At least that is what he thought it took, as the light in the boss’ room never went down. After that, Jake finally went over his gains from robbing the dead.

Sadly, the staff that Franky had was missing and none of the others had any other weapons so Jake put all the storage rings in a pocket, as to Jake’s annoyance it was a known fact that storage items couldn’t be stored other storage items only racial storage skills could store them like the one Jayne has.

After a good rest to regain his lost stats, Jake headed for the next floor, considering the way he entered the tired floor. Jake was on guard as he entered the door. Exiting on the other side, his perception blasting out in all directions

“It’s a fucken rain forest and there’s nothing here but monkeys.”

The monkeys that were near him just looked in shock before one approached.

“A monkey king recognises you, yes?” Jake replied with yes, then said, “so I’m guessing this floor is supposed to be a monkey floor in that case. Would it be possible to meet the boss of this floor?”

“I will have to send someone to ask. You understand this is still a dungeon, after all.”

“That’s fine. I will wait. Hopefully, we won’t be enemies in the future. I don’t like the idea of bringing harm to any of you.” Jake said the last bit with a slightly foreboding impression.

The monkey sent off two others to contact the floor boss as he kept Jake company. Five minutes later, Jake was in the boss’ room. Jake had asked if he could move on to the next floor and, to his surprise, the boss said yes with no hesitation, which made Jake wonder.

“May I ask? What will happen to you all if I complete the dungeon?”

The monkeys all went quiet only after a minute, the boss said. “Once the dungeon resets, we will be transported out and a new group of bosses will replace us,” said the boss.

“So, are you saying that any monster I didn’t kill from the previous floors will also escape from the dungeon?”

“In a sense, yes, but they will not be removed from the dungeon, but will be allowed to leave if they can. This dungeon had only just been repopulated after the last group killed the bosses on the first two floors. If I understand correctly, only two of the remaining Gauls managed to escape the dungeon.”

“Has anyone finished the dungeon yet?” Jake asked

“No, you are actually the first to make it to this point — alive, that is. We have had many come through the door only to die from wounds. Not a single one had any healing potion left.”

Jake looked at the door before turning back to look at the boss. “So as I haven’t killed you, I do not get any rewards.” As Jake said, just as notifications started pouring in.

You have entered the fifth floor. This floor is known as the goblins’ cave. The leader is known as the goblin King.

Crouching is all that Jake could manage inside the cave. Not having enough room to stand up, straight he shuffled forwards deeper into the cave. In the distance, the sound of clattering reached their ears, possibly from hundreds of goblins. Jake stopped moving just as a group of small, leathery, and green creatures emerged from a passageway.

“It’s an intruder. Kill it,” one of the goblins said. Three goblins dashed and jumped towards him with their rusted and chipped short swords. Jake attempted to dodge the attacks, but from within the tight space, Jake just couldn’t move fast enough. Three rusted swords penetrated his body for thirty points of health each. This is when Jake realised something. For someone that wasn’t Jake, this one attack could have been fatal, but for him not only was this just a scratch but a minute from now it would be as if it never even happened thanks to the Race skill

Eyes of the lost (unique)

Splitting your focus on multiple tasks is your new state of being. Identifying your target’s information is as easy as a glance. Your sight is as true as an arrow, while your enemy will cower at a glance. You illuminate the pathway to your target. Open a path to view the afterlife for lost souls. Anyone who looks into your eyes will see the fate of the fallen friend, loved ones and if they are hostile towards the demon of the past, will see the fires of the deep as it slowly burns away at their souls.

+100 all stats regeneration once per minute

+5 points of damage to your enemy every minute

10% chance your target will run

+10 points of soul damage to your enemy every minute

His health would be back at full in under sixty seconds, now all Jake needed to figure out is how to move freely in this tiny space one of the first things he tried was to teleport behind the goblins but the teleport technique wouldn’t work, it was as if the skill wouldn’t let Jake use the skill if destination was uncertain. Jake could see the destination, but he didn’t know if he could fit in that location without half of his body being embedded into a wall. Jake’s next idea was more simple. His plan was to just stand there as if he was a tank just eating up the damage while he counters with the skills Demon strike, Eyes of the lost, and Atomic degradation. Jake would also summon one of his lost servants to protect his back from any unforeseen enemy attacks.

“I should probably summon the weakest one so it can gain some levels.”

Jake summoned Elizabeth and gave her the simple task of killing anything that attacked him from behind.
