Chapter 83: Treasure Found

Slimantha followed Mitsy through the doorway. The slime summoner’s black shoes sounded out softly against the golden floor. She glanced about. Piles of golden coins greeted her brown eyes. Golden torches positioned along the golden walls provided warm-hued light. A golden ceiling showed overhead.

“Looks like we found the treasure room,” Latril said as the swird woman followed her girlfriend, Slimantha, into the room. Like the slime summoner before her, Latril also took the opportunity to glance about the place. Her eyes—her golden eyes, which each contained the likeness of an upward-turned sword—came to a stop upon a certain red wooden chest with a curved top. “How did Mimi’s chest look?”

Samuel stepped into the treasure room after Latril, Black and Rose filing in behind him. The hero from another world looked at the red chest—the one that Latril had noticed. A smile flitted across his face. “Actually,” he said, “I think that is her chest. I’ll go get her.” The hero dashed up to the chest and placed his hands on the curved lid. He swung it open. “Hi, Mimi. We are here to”—he sweatdropped, a pair of golden eyes greeting him from the depths of the chest—“save you.” A pair golden hands reached out from the chest and grabbed his wrists. Said hands then pulled him forward—pulled him into the chest. The chest’s lid slammed shut.

“Did”—Latril sweatdropped—“he just get eaten by Mimi. How the”—an expletive slipped out from between the swird woman’s lips—“is he a hero.” She sighed, her black feathery wings drooping a bit. “She’s a mimic. What did he think would happen if he just swung her chest open like that?”

“It’s fine,” Slimantha said, glancing at Latril. The slime summoner’s eyes then went to the chest that had just swallowed the hero. “I mean it’s not like she’s actually going to eat him, is she? I’m sure it’s fine.” She blinked. “Well, probably.”

“Well,” Black said, crossing her arms, “I, for one, do not approve of another woman doing that kind of thing with my man.”

Rose side-eyed Black. “I doubt,” the plant woman said, “Mimi is doing that kind of thing with Samuel in there. She’s a mimic. He startled her, and she pulled him into her chest.”

Black lowered her arms. Her brown eyes went to Rose the Plant Woman. “You’re probably right,” Black said before giving Rose a smile. The cat woman in the black witch hat then turned her attention back to Mimi’s chest. Her black cat tail swished. “Maybe I should do something before my boyfriend actually does get eaten or something though.” The lid of Mimi’s chest then swung open, and Samuel came tumbling out. “Actually, never mind. The problem seems to have solved itself.”

A beautiful curvaceous mimic, Mimi, stepped out from the now-open chest. The long locks of her golden hair cascaded down from her head. Her skin possessed a lovely golden hue. A short-sleeved shirt—also golden—stretched a tad tight over her generous bosom. A fashionable mid-skirt—golden as well—showed upon her lower half. Even her shoes possessed a golden coloration. She truly was Bleakfyre’s golden woman.

Mimi’s golden eyes turned to Samuel. “Sorry about that,” she said. “You kind of scared me.” She flashed the hero a smile.

“D-Don’t worry about it,” Samuel said, stumbling back to his feet. “My fault for startling you.” His footing then became compromised. He stumbled forward. His hands inadvertently found a plethora of softness at Mimi’s bosom. His cheeks flushed red. Mimi’s eyes turned dead inside.

“Really?!” Black said, her black feline tail bristling. “Right in front of me, your girlfriend?!”

“This”—Samuel’s hands hadn’t moved yet—“isn’t what it looks like.” His hands still hadn’t moved. Why hadn’t his hands moved?

“Don’t make me regret not eating you,” Mimi finally said in deadpan. Her words did the trick, and Samuel finally managed to remove his hands from where his hands certainly shouldn’t have been. Life returned to Mimi’s eyes. Then she turned away from Samuel and to her still-open chest. She hinged at her hips and started digging through said chest.

Samuel blushed again and averted his gaze from the mimic digging through her chest. He glanced at Black, who had stepped up to his left. The cat woman’s tail gently brushed against his left leg.

“So,” Black said, pressing a tad closer to Samuel, “did you think of me when you were copping a feel from Mimi?” She pulled back and snickered when Samuel’s blush worsened.

“Can you please,” Samuel said, his shoulders slumping, “not talk about that.”

“But you’re so cute when you’re flustered,” Black said. She gave Samuel a smile, her tail swishing.

Meanwhile, Mimi’s chest digging came to a stop. A cute little smile flashed across the golden woman’s face. She leaned further into her chest and grabbed something. Then she pulled that something out. That something was a sword with a brown hilt and a gray metallic blade. Mimi turned away from her chest, the sword held in her right hand. Her eyes went to Samuel.

“Is this that sword you lost?” Mimi said, holding the sword out. “Something about it made me think it might be yours.” A friendly smile settled in on her face.

Samuel’s blue eyes went from Mimi’s face to the sword held by the golden woman. Then his eyes widened. “Could that really be …” He stepped closer to Mimi, his attention still on the sword she held. “It is the sword the goddess had blessed me with.” Tears welled up in his eyes. A smile spread across his face. Mimi the Golden Woman handed him the sword he had once lost to a bird. He held the sword up triumphantly. “I have finally re-acquired it.” He slid the weapon into its sheath at his left hip. Then he grabbed Mimi’s hands. “Thank you so much.”

“You’re very welcome.” Mimi smiled and then pulled away from Samuel. She turned back to her chest and shut said chest. Then, with a quick tap of her right middle finger upon the chest’s lid, said chest vanished. She then turned around, and her golden eyes fell upon another golden woman—fell upon Mitsy. She blinked. “I don’t believe we’ve met.” She glanced over the other mimic.

Slimantha blinked. She glanced from one mimic, Mitsy, to the other mimic, Mimi. Then she stepped up to Mitsy and took Mitsy’s left hand in her right hand. She pulled Mitsy up to Mimi. She released Mitsy’s hand and gestured at her. “This is Mitsy. I found her in an alley. As you can see, she’s a mimic.”

“H-Hi,” Mitsy said to Mimi timidly. “Y-You have a pretty chest.”

Slimantha then gestured at Mimi. “This is Mimi. She’s Bleakfyre’s mayor and treasure master. Like you, she’s also a mimic. Also, she’s gorgeous.”

“It is very nice to meet you,” Mimi said. She gave Mitsy a friendly smile. Mitsy smiled back at her.

“You know?” Rose said, getting the group’s attention. “Maybe we should head out before a baddie shows up. We are in the enemy’s stronghold after all.”

Slimantha glanced at Rose. Then the slime summoner brought her right hand up to her chin. “What if …” Her brown eyes went back to the plant woman. Her right hand lowered back down. “What if, like, the baddies are totes waiting for us to try to leave? Maybe we should stay a bit longer to throw them off or something.”

“Or,” Rose said, her pink eyes now on the lone doorway leading out of the treasure room, “maybe a baddie has already found us.” A drop of sweat rolled down the green skin of her right cheek. The image of a dragon woman standing in the doorway reflected in the plant woman’s eyes.
