Slimantha glanced up at the trapdoor looming overhead. She, Samuel, Mimi, and Black had fallen into something, something without much light. The only bit of light down here was the bit of light filtering down through the overhead trapdoor. Even that light was fleeting though. The trapdoor closed. She found herself in pitch black. She blinked. She still stood in pitch black.
The sound of someone’s shoes against something echoed through whatever this space was. “Watch where you’re going!” The voice belonged to Black. Slimantha could not see the cat woman, but she could definitely hear her. It sounded like someone had walked into Black. That wasn’t that shocking considering just how dark it was in this place.
“Sorry.” This time the voice belonged to Mimi. “Would you mind watching where you put you’re hands though? Those aren’t handrests.” Her voice had a hint of annoyance to it.
“Sorry about that,” Black said. Her shoes tapped on whatever was beneath her as she repositioned herself. “I didn’t mean to grab you there. I can’t really see what I’m grabbing in this darkness.”
Slimantha closed her eyes. Then she opened them. It was still pitch black. Guess blinking wasn’t going to fix the problem with this place’s lighting. She brought her right hand to her chin and thought. A sound interrupted her, a sound like flowing water. She looked in the direction of the sound, and the sound stopped. All she could make out was yet more pitch black. Why did it have to be so dark?
She blinked again. Well, she could do that. That should work. She cupped her hands in front of her. She stared at where her hands were, not that she could actually see them in the pitch black of the place. A little blob of viscous blue appeared in her cupped hands. Yes, it really did appear since it gave off white light. She smiled and set the small glowing blue slime down upon the brown rock of the floor. The veil of pitch black had been pieced.
She stood in a cavern of brown rock. A pool of silver sword essence lay not that far from her. She stared at the body of sword essence for a moment before turning away from it. Her beautiful brown eyes went to Mimi and Black. The two women looked at her and smiled. She smiled back. Then her eyes went to Samuel, who groaned as he stumbled to his feet.
“Is”—Samuel staggered a bit—“everyone OK?” His blue eyes met Slimantha’s brown eyes. Then he glanced at Mimi and Black, and a sweatdrop rolled down his right cheek. “Why does it suddenly feel like I’m the only one here who actually took a fall?”
Slimantha blinked. Her beautiful brown eyes met with Samuel’s blue eyes again. “Maybe you just need some practice,” she said. She brought her right hand back to her chin. “I got it!” She lowered her right hand, her brown eyes sparkling. “You could try throwing yourself into a hole one-hundred times.” She smiled a beautiful smile.

Samuel’s face paled. “I am so not going to do that,” he said.
“I”—Slimantha blinked—“see.” She then smiled another beautiful smile. “Too small, right? How about one-thousand times?” Her eyes were sparkling again.
Samuel facepalmed. “I really don’t think you see.”
“Don’t think I see?” Slimantha blinked again. Then she looked at the small glowing slime. Her right hand went back to her chin. “Well, I guess we could use more light. Maybe that would help.” Her right hand went back down, and she smiled. Then she reached her right hand out toward the glowing slime. Two more blobs of viscous glowing blue welled up beside it. The three small glowing slimes bounced about in front of her as she lowered her right arm. A pleasant smile graced her lips as she watched the three slimes.
Samuel’s blue eyes went from the three bouncing slimes to Slimantha. He smiled at her and then looked away. His eyes stopped on something laying on the brown rock of the floor. He blinked and then walked over to that something. He crouched down, his eyes still on that something. A sword with a brown hilt and a gray blade lay just in front of him. Could this be the sword that bird took from him? Could this be the sword the goddess blessed him with? He took it into his right hand and stood up. Then he frowned. It was a different sword. He sighed and then slipped the sword into his sheath without issue. At least he had a sword now.
Slimantha crouched down to get closer to her three glowing slimes. The three glowing creatures continued bouncing in front of her. She poked one of the three, and the poked slime jiggled in response. “Thanks for the light, guys,” she said. Then she glanced at Samuel. Her brown eyes went to the sword at his left hip. She blinked. Could that sword be … She got up and walked over to the hero. “Is that that magic sword you lost or another one?” She glanced at the sword in question. Then her eyes went to his eyes, and she gave him a friendly smile.
“It’s not that sword,” he said. He glanced down at the sheathed sword. His blue eyes then went to Slimantha’s brown eyes, and he smiled back at her. “It kind of feels like I keep finding the same beginner weapon.” He gave an awkward laugh. He then glanced to the three glowing slimes. His eyes then went to Slimantha’s face. “Good job with those slimes. Their light really helps down here.”
Slimantha clasped her hands together cutely. A lovely smile displayed on her lips. She pulled back and gave Samuel a quick flutter of her eyes. “Thanks for the compliment,” she said. She shifted her weight to her right leg and then to her left leg. Then she looked away. Her attention went back to the three glowing slimes. She blinked. “What’s wrong, guys?” The three glowing slimes no longer bounced. In fact, they looked to be quivering. All three of them stared at the pool of silver sword essence. Slimantha’s beautiful brown eyes went to that pool. She blinked again. Was the pool moving?
