Chapter 68: Out for a Ducky Celebration

The sun shone down from a shimmering blue—shone down upon Slimantha’s face. The slime summoner smiled happily, her long locks of brown hair swaying in the pleasant breeze. Her black shoes gingerly tapped against the cerulean street as she walked forward. She stretched her arms. She had returned to the Place in the Pond. Samuel, Black, and Latril walked along with her. Various white ducks waddled along the street as well.

“So,” Black said, the witch’s brown eyes going to Slimantha, “where exactly did you and Latril disappear to anyway?” Black’s black feline tail swished behind her, a playful smirk on the cat woman’s face.

“Where I disappeared to?” Slimantha blinked. Her eyes then shifted to Black’s face. The two women shared a smile. “I guess I did disappear, didn’t I?”

“You did,” Black said. She reached her right hand up and ran her fingers along the rim of her black witch hat. Her tail gave another swish. Another playful smirk showed upon her lips. She lowered her right hand. “You were here, and then bam! You were gone.” She giggled. “Well, I guess it was a quiet bam.” Her gaze shifted to Samuel and that playful smirk of hers came back. Her tail gave a playful swish. “And to think Samuel and I were about to elope too.” She snickered as Samuel’s face turned red.

“To be clear,” Samuel said, his blush dying down a bit, “she’s just joking about the elope thing.” He glanced at Black, his blue eyes being drawn down to the playful sway of her tail. He quickly pivoted his gaze up to the cat woman’s face. “You were joking, right?”

“Relax,” Black said, stepping up to Samuel. “I’m just messing with you.” She gave him a friendly right-handed pat on his back. “I totes saw you checking out my tail though.” She snickered as Samuel’s cheeks turned redder. Then she stepped away from Samuel the Hero From Another World, and her eyes went back to Slimantha the Slime Summoner. “Seriously, though, where did you disappear to?”

Slimantha smiled and raised her right pointer finger in front of herself. “I stepped in a puddle and got transported to another world.”

Black blinked. “Wait. Are you telling me that you had a fabulous isekai adventure?” Her lovely brown eyes met with Slimantha’s eyes. “Was it litRPG too?”

Slimantha’s beautiful brown eyes displayed a distinct sparkle now. “Yes,” she said, nodding enthusiastically, “it was a fabulous litRPG isekai adventure.”

A sigh sounded from beside the slime summoner. It was Latril. “I’m not sure I’d call it fabulous. I mean the system did try to kill us.”

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

“But,” Slimantha said, “we broke the sky, and there were cute demon ducks. There were so many cute demon ducks.” The slime summoner clasped her hands together cutely and began swaying from side to side.

Black watched Slimantha for a moment, a smile on her lips. Behind her, her feline tail swished. “Glad you had fun,” the cat woman said, her tail swishing again.

Slimantha stopped swaying and smiled back at Black. Then the slime summoner blinked, lowering her arms. “Oh. That’s right.” She glanced at Latril before her brown eyes returned to Black. “Latril and I are an item now. How awesome is that?” A radiant smile flashed across her face, and she turned to face Latril. She stepped up to the swird woman.

Latril’s hands laced together at Slimantha’s back, and the swird woman’s lovely golden sword eyes met the slime summoner’s beautiful brown eyes. A pleasant smile settled in upon Latril’s lips. Then those lips pressed against the soft lips of her girlfriend. The two women shared a kiss.

A soft thud sounded out as a certain hero fell to his knees. His jaw was slack. His eyes were wide. The image of the two women sharing a loving embrace played out before him. “How?” he murmured. “How did I lose to Latril?” He hung his head down, slouching over. His head perked back up at the sound of shoes on cerulean street. He glanced up—glanced up at the cat woman who had stepped up to his left. He glanced up at Black.

Black crouched down beside Samuel, getting closer to him. Her tail gave a swish, and her lovely brown eyes met his blue eyes. She flashed him a smile. “It’s OK,” she said sweetly, reaching over and giving him a right-handed pat on the back. Her tail swished again. “You are a strong hero.” Then she blinked, pulling back. “Well, maybe not that strong part.”

“You”—Samuel sighed, slouching over again—“aren’t really helping.” His eyes went back to the cat woman crouching at his left. His gaze then drifting down to said cat woman’s swishing tail.

“You know?” A smirk flashed across Black’s face. “Maybe we should elope. Then you can check out my tail all you want.” She pressed her face closer to his and smiled. “Maybe you could even touch it.” She pulled back as Samuel’s face went red, a fit of snickers bursting out from between her lips. Her right hand went to her chest as the snickers kept coming.

“Ha ha. Very funny,” Samuel deadpanned, his blush fading.

“Relax,” Black said, her tail giving another swish. “I’m just messing with you.” She stood up and reached her right hand toward Samuel. “Here. Let me help you up.” He took her hand, and a soft pink tinge came to her cheeks. She helped him to his feet.

Samuel gave Black a smile and then glanced away from the cat woman. His eyes came to a large white building with feathery architecture. Well, white with feathery architecture was kind of the norm for the buildings here. This building, though, was quite large. He pulled out his invitation letter from his left pocket. His eyes scanned over the contents of said invitation and then returned to the large white building.

“I think that is the cathedral mentioned in the invitation,” he said, his eyes still on the building.

Slimantha blinked and then pulled out her invitation from her right pocket. Her eyes went from invitation to large white building. “I think you’re right. That must be the Cathedral of the Duck Collective.” She then folded her invitation back up and returned it to her right pocket. She smiled. “Well, let’s get going. The celebration awaits.”
