Slimantha walked down the aisle, her black shoes tapping rhythmically upon the wooden floor. Various goods, some at her right and some at her left, were displayed upon wooden shelves. Her footfalls then came to a stop. She turned to the goods at her left. She stood in Lock’s Market, her purpose to get a loaf of bread.
Various breads lay on the shelves in front of her. Her beautiful brown eyes flitted from one bread loaf to another. There were quite a few options. Her head turned, and her long brown hair swayed. She looked up, looked up at the top shelf. Her eyes widened, and her jaw dropped. Her lips formed a little ‘o’. She closed her mouth, her eyes on a particular loaf of bread on the top shelf. This particular loaf of bread was a loaf of Heaven-Loaf bread.
She reached up, reached up to the heavenly loaf. She failed to reach it though. She was not tall enough. She pouted and rose onto her toes. Her fingers neared the heavenly loaf. However, it still evaded her. She still could not reach it. She puffed her cheeks out and lowered back down. Her arms lowered to her side. Her brown eyes went back to the heavenly loaf that taunted her from the top shelf. Her gaze shifted downward to the bottom shelf. If she climbed up on it, then maybe …
“Good morning, Slimantha,” a voice called out to her, making her jolt. She turned away from the shelves to the source of the voice. A tall bunny man with short blond hair and a cream complexion stood in front of her. His bunny ears and tail were white. He wore a green long-sleeved shirt and brown pants. A pair of brown shoes clad his feet. Her brown eyes met his green eyes, and the handsome bunny man smiled at her. She smiled back.
“Morning, Lock,” Slimantha said. She glanced to the Heaven-Loaf bread before looking back at Lock. “You mind doing me a favor?” She clasped her hands together cutely. “Can you get that loaf of Heaven-Loaf for me?” She fluttered her eyes and then pointed at the loaf she had been trying to reach on the top shelf.
She stepped back as Lock stepped up to the shelves. He looked up at the top shelf, his bunny ears giving a quick twitch. He reached up and grabbed the requested loaf of bread easily enough. He turned to Slimantha and smiled. “Here you go,” he said, handing the loaf of Heaven-Loaf bread to her.
“Thanks, Lock.” Slimantha closed her eyes and smiled a big smile. “You’re the best.” She hugged the loaf of Heaven-Loaf bread to her chest.
“Morning,” a third voice said. Slimantha pivoted to look at its source, a tall man with white hair, blue eyes, and an ivory complexion. The newcomer wore a white lab coat over a white long-sleeved shirt. White pants clad his lower half, and white shoes clad his feet. He had a shopping cart containing quite a few goods with him.
Stolen novel; please report.
“Morning, Doc Sabbatical,” Slimantha said. She smiled at him, and he nodded in response.
Doc Sabbatical, a healer, turned his blue eyes to the displayed loafs of bread. He grabbed one and then tossed it into his cart. He looked at Slimantha and Lock, gave another nod, and then began pushing his cart away.
Slimantha turned back to Lock and smiled. “Thanks again for the help,” she said. She waved at him and then turned to head to the checkout area, the loaf of Heaven-Loaf bread in tow. Her black shoes lightly tapped the wooden floor as she vacated the aisle. Her steps had a happy bounce to them. She walked up to the counter. Like the floors, walls, and shelves, the counter was also wooden.
“Hi, Slimantha,” a bunny woman behind the counter said. The bunny woman had short red hair and green eyes. Her complexion was cream. She smiled at Slimantha. “How has your day been? Fun, I hope.” She had an energetic feel to her. A pink short-sleeved shirt clad her top half, and a gray mid-skirt clad her bottom half. A pair of brown shoes clad her feet. Her bunny ears and tail were white. She smiled again, leaning over the counter. Her eyes went to the bread loaf in Slimantha’s arms. “That’s what you’re getting?”
Slimantha nodded and set the loaf of Heaven-Loaf bread down on the counter. She pulled her coin purse, a golden bag with a golden drawstring, from her right pocket and then fished a few golden coins out. She placed the coins down on the counter beside the bread. “This enough, Lisa?” She looked at Lisa.
Lisa eagerly snatched the golden coins up. They sparkled in her hands. “Looks good to me.” She smiled and then put the coins away. “Nice doing business with you.”
Slimantha giggled, her right hand going to her lips. “See you around,” she said. She grabbed her Heaven-Loaf bread and hugged it to her chest. Then she turned to leave. She headed out the door.
She stepped onto the red brick road, walking at a casual pace. It was morning. The lampposts lining the road were currently off. Her long brown hair swayed gently in the pleasant breeze. She still hugged her loaf of Heaven-Loaf bread to her chest. Her mouth watered as thoughts of the delicious cheese sandwiches it could be used to make flooded through her mind. She swallowed.
Her footfalls fell silent as she came to a stop. For a moment, she just stood there. Then she blinked. She looked down at the loaf cradled in her arms. Lunch, lunch with Mimi and Black, approached. She would have to head to Bill’s Diner for that. What should she do with the bread though? Should she take the bread with her? No, she’d drop the bread off at her apartment first. There should still be enough time for that. She smiled and started walking again, still cradling the loaf of Heaven-Loaf bread in her arms.
