Slimantha yawned and stretched her arms. It was morning, and she sat at her kitchen table. She sat in one of the two chairs positioned around the round wooden table. The chair opposite of her was empty. Today, she wore an outfit much like yesterday’s. A red short-sleeved crop-top clad her top, and brown pants clad her bottom. The black shoes cladding her feet rested upon her kitchen’s wooden floor.
She yawned and stretched her arms again. She blinked her lovely brown eyes. Her eyes went down to the glass teacup sitting in front of her. She reached out and picked it up off the table’s top. It neared her lips. She took a sip. The flavor of honey-sweetened tea flooded into her mouth. She swallowed and then set the teacup back down upon the table. Her lips slipped into a relaxed smile.
Her brown eyes drifted to the counter. Like the floor, the counter and walls were also wooden. Something gooey and blue, a slime, bounced about at the counter, a stove to the slime’s right. Slimantha smiled as she watched the slime chef work with bread and cheese. Her stomach grumbled.
She moaned and glanced down at her stomach. Her eyes went back to the teacup sitting in front of her. She smiled and picked it up. She took another sip savoring the sweet flavor. She then set it back down, and her eyes went back to the slime chef.
The blue slime chef bounced about in front of the counter. It jiggled, a hint of indecisiveness in its jiggle. Finally, it grabbed the plate it had been working on off the counter. It bounced to the table, balancing the plate on top of itself. It came to a stop beside Slimantha and looked up at her. It then bounced up and set the plate in front of the tan-skinned woman.
“Thanks,” Slimantha said, a pleasant smiled gracing her face. Her brown eyes were on the slime beside her. She watched as the slime bounced around the table and then bounced up into the empty chair. She brought her right hand to her lips, giggling. Her eyes drifted down to the cheese sandwich laying on the plate in front of her. Her jaw dropped. The sandwich was not much of a sandwich. It was just cheese on one slice of bread.
She puffed her cheeks out, her brown eyes flitting to the slime chef. “What’s the meaning of this?” she said. “This sandwich is missing the other slice of bread.” She crossed her arms and leaned back. Her brown eyes were still on the slime chef, her gaze piercing.
The slime chef bounced in its chair. It pulled itself up to the edge of the table, looking at Slimantha. It jiggled in apology and then dropped back into its chair.

“Out of bread?” Slimantha said. She blinked. Her gaze went back to the slime sitting across from her. “What do you mean we are out of bread?!” She paled.
The slime jiggled in its chair for a moment. It then bounced again. It pulled itself back up to the edge of the table. It jiggled some more and then dropped back into its chair.
“Of course I know what it means to be out of bread,” Slimantha said. She looked back down to her sandwich, her sandwich with only one slice of bread. Tears welled up in her eyes. “I just can’t believe we are out of bread.” She pouted.
She sighed and then picked the cheese sandwich up. Well, a sad cheese sandwich was better than no cheese sandwich. She’d just have to make do. She folded the cheese sandwich over and then brought it to her lips. She took a bite. She chewed, the cheesy flavor flooding her mouth. She swallowed. Her lips formed a smile. At least the cheese sandwich tasted good. She set the cheese sandwich down and then took a drink of her honey-sweetened tea. She smiled again.
Her brown eyes went back to the slime sitting across from her. It bounced. “Yeah, it’s good,” Slimantha said. She smiled at the slime. “You did good.” She took another bite of cheese sandwich, chewed, and then swallowed. “Too bad we ran out of bread. This sandwich would have been heavenly if it had another slice of bread.” She took another bite of cheese sandwich and then another drink of honey-sweetened tea. She set her teacup back down. “Guess I’ll need to head into Lock’s to get some more bread.” She stretched her arms again.
The slime bounced and jiggled. Slimantha blinked. “Hero?” she said. The slime bounced again. “Oh, that hero.” Slimantha blinked again. “No, I don’t have a thing for that hero. Why do you ask?” The slime pulled itself up to the table’s edge. Slimantha’s brown eyes were on it. “Rose has a thing for him, and I think they would make a cute couple.” The slime dropped back down and jiggled. Slimantha’s face flushed red. “W-What do you mean I’d make a cute couple with him?! He is totes meant for Rose!” She looked away from the slime and puffed out her cheeks. The slime jiggled.
Slimantha’s brown eyes went back down to the partially eaten cheese sandwich sitting on the plate in front of her. She picked the folded-over sandwich up and took a bite. She chewed and then swallowed. A short while later, she popped the last bite of sandwich into her mouth. She chewed, her eyes going to her teacup. She swallowed and then picked the teacup up. She brought it to her lips and drank the last bit of honey-sweetened tea from it. A smile spread across her face, and she placed the empty teacup down. Breakfast had been eaten.
She looked at the slime sitting across from her at the wooden table. The blue creature bounced and jiggled. It pulled itself up to the table’s edge and then dropped back into its chair. Slimantha giggled, bringing her right hand to her lips. “Good job on the meal. It was lovely, even without the missing slice of bread.” She brought her right hand back to her lips and giggled again. “Anyway, I’m going to head out. Later.” She stood up, and the slime sitting across from her bounced out of its chair. The slime bounced around the table to collect her plate and teacup. She stretched her arms as the slime headed to the kitchen sink. She smiled and then turned to leave.
