I slipped up. I forgot that spirits couldn’t be killed by physical means and left the fire spirits in the smokehouse to produce smoke all night. I choked and struggled to catch my breath as I was forcefully woken up early in the morning by the thin white smoke filling the entire farm.

Fortunately, the smoke was easy to handle, as wind magic easily pushed it up the air holes in the walls. I definitely should have left instructions to Aka not to let the smokehouse spirits do it all day. Because now, all the smoked pork in the smokehouse became too bitter for my consumption, and I have to feed it bit by bit to the slime.

After this incident, I decided to make a schedule/rules for the nut spirits to follow, and they are roughly like this:

・ All spirits can only work during the day, from the morning to the evening; no spirits are allowed to work on their own after sunset, except for special orders given to a select few.

・ For blue spirits: Main job is to water the plant in the morning, and to fill the bath with water in the morning and early evening.

・ For red spirits: Main job is to reheat the eternal stew during eating time, to heat my bath whenever I take it, and—currently pending—to fill the smokehouse with smoke.

・ For yellow spirits: Main job is to do construction projects around the farm according to order.

As can be seen, the schedule is pretty rough since I’m leaving it to Aka, Ao, and Ki to sort out the details, like shift rotations and whatever else, based on the number of nut spirits available on the farm.

I also made the schedule following what they did yesterday, figuring how the spirit colors correspond to their elemental powers and what they can contribute to the farm with it.

The blue nut spirits use water element—they can produce water out of thin air at will. The red nut spirits use fire element—they can spew fire or produce out of their body to almost infinite degree. The yellow nut spirits use earth element—they can move and shape earth with high degree of mastery.

After informing my nut spirits about the newly made schedule/rules, the rest of the morning, I spent commanding the yellow spirits to reconstruct the smokehouse using the condensed stone bricks that they made yesterday. I let Ki take charge when the time for me to dig more tunnels came up.
