Day 36

I’m not sure if slime can even get drunk, but I think they got drunk last night and now they doubled in number.

As far as my study into magical creatures goes, the only time a magical creature population seemingly doubles overnight is whenever they feel an inevitable doom that pushes them to reproduce violently to preserve their own species existence. Question is, how vile actually my homebrewed nut wine was to the point slime, a creature that’s known for being able to digest anything, is driven to this point? Or perhaps is there something weird in my nuts that boosts their reproductive capabilities? Nah, no way, I fed them the nut branches and roots every time and nothing like this ever happened so far. Also, I drank that stuff too last night. By the Gods, what did I just make?

Anyway, I butchered half of the slime trench to keep the population shy past the one hundred mark, and noticed something: The newly bred slime produced flimsier and more tender dried slime remains than the usual ones. Perhaps it’s the side effect of the accelerated breeding process, I’m not sure, nevertheless I have a bad feeling about this. I’ll add expanding the slime trench capacity to my to-do list tomorrow.

Talking about my to-do list, I’ve come back to my digging the getaway tunnel routine since yesterday. I finally finished reconstructing the wall to guide the debris that I have been holding up a few days ago, and it’s probably my strongest construction yet. It survived the whole day of getting hammered by falling debris, and it still stands strong even until tonight. I wondered how long it would hold up, though. Considering the amount of debris that it needs to endure every day, I hope it lasts for a week at least.

At times like this I regret not remembering the strengthening rune that Jessica uses to strengthen our weapons in combat, but whatever. I’ll just fix all the damages the wall has as best as I can, and hope that it will survive the next day, and the next day, and the next day…
