All the adventurers gathered back up. They were notified to a change of schedule for the class and a job well done for the guildies. The class would change their focus to book learning, something that was supposed to happen much later in the class. And any physical training would be done on the walls.
Now, the town guard had the walls taken care of, this was no village. That being said, the town was in wartime restrictions. The townsmen weren’t conscripted like a village, but they also were set to things like rationing. Similarly, the guild was now monopolized by the town guard. Afterall, things like going out to pick herbs or slaying a few rabbits weren’t necessary when the town was besieged now was it?
This also meant quests like shoveling old man Jameson’s crapper would have to wait until the siege was finished. But quests to delve or even cull the [Crawl] and it’s monster gangs were still posted, if anything increased. The town wasn’t suicidal and didn’t want to face monsters outside the walls and from inside it’s sewers at the same time.
Micky would have to go to the walls on his own time to keep up his physical strength. In fact he might have actually rolled a natural STG and AGL gain with all the exercise he had been doing. But what he was most concerned with, along with the rest of his class, was the levels he gained. Yes, levels plural. Micky was now level 17, and just waiting for him to except them. This would likely knock him out… again ...so Micky wanted to wait till he was safe in his rented apartment.
After arriving at his rental Micky went up to his room shut the door and prepared for what was likely going to be the most exhausted he had ever been. And he was right…
[Level up! Grats!]
[Level up! Grats!]
[Level up! Grats!]
[Level up! Grats!]
[Level up! Grats!]
And then Micky fell unconscious completely involuntarily. Oddly enough this was nothing new to him. What was new was just how fast he had fallen unconscious. Usually he had time to process what had happened or his mind was fighting to process what happened faster. This time he only knew the before and the after, and was already deep in the black before he knew what happened.

[Congradulations! You have reached a milestone in [Pink Mage]!]
[Your class spell is now being assigned!]
[[Decelerate] has been assigned!]
[[Error] inertia skill tree already present… reassigning please be patient with us!]
[[Weakness] has been assigned!]
Micky pulled up his new spell, more than happy that he had already passed the nascent levels of [Decelerate] to be assigned a new spell instead and skipping a whole series of spells in his class tree.
Weakness: Weakens the party applied to. Has a stacking effect. Limited duration.
There wasn’t much to go on, but he had already seen this type of effect before. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a curse like Pinky had. Curses could be applied permanently, though the effect would be weaker if it was. But Micky was excited with it none the less. It would also have a synergistic combo effect with his [Decelerate]. This effect would be even more significant when he reversed it into a buff instead, and applied [Accelerate] as well.
However he could feel that this would not be nearly as easy to reverse the spell matrix of as he did with any of his other spells. In fact he could tell that it was going to significantly more difficult to deal with this spell than any of his others so far. But Micky was ecstatic instead of afraid. This was the result of him skipping an entire class tree, and it would pay once he mastered it. He also had to achieve mastery over the inertia skill tree on his own though, once he was done he would receive a [Mastery] passive for it.

Micky found his rental property to be a bit sparse. When he rented the place it had old furniture still there but it was missing something. He decided to go to the guild and take a visit to Yolanda as well. It was just as well since when he came back to the city he had a hidden objective of the raid quest to complet
[Siege Area Quest: Protect [Hamelburg] From the monster siege and assist in the eradication of monsters.]
[Hidden Objective Discovered: Report the information that you have found.]
[Rewards: [Valor], [Honor] and [Royal Rewards And Credit] By Acknowledgment Of [National Defense Council]]
It was interesting that there were no bonus rewards yet, just the regular defense rewards that the kingdom applies to all monster raids and up on settlements. Micky assumed that this was because the city council had yet to announce them and would apply them later. Micky thought that they might even apply them post-retroactively after the quest finished, but probably not after the baron’s rage was just so recently vented on the council. Most likely they would post rewards from themselves and possibly even a ladder board from the baron himself in a matter of a few days.
This amazed Micky, as from what he understood, fast and simple took a week for the council to approve. A good quick thing, took upwards of six months. And it could be years and generations before things were done at a moderate pace. Don’t even ask what a slow pace is. It appeared that the baron’s murderous rage was enough to cut through red tape and sear through bureaucracy!
Micky received his rewards from reporting his findings to the guild and decided to check in with Yolanda about getting a caretaker for his house. He had figured that he could clean it, if at all necessary since he wouldn’t be spending much time there. He was mistaken. The dust had nearly killed him. And the spiders had moved in in a matter of days.
Yolanda had suggested one, but also suggested that he might consider this a good time to expand his estate and staff. He was going to be a lesser noble after all. So he should consider this a good opportunity. When he asked how he should go about it, he was told that he could either try and put up some permanent listings, or since he was probably going to move about a lot for the time being, he could try taking in a few orphans.
This intrigued him. Micky was not averse to having a few young spawn around. And he doubted Prin would either. It might even remind him of his bratling siblings. Although Prin was the youngest of her’s.
Micky had decided that was what he would do, but first he had to meet with his other employee. She had been a maid that had worked for the baron for some time and had decided to retire. She was passed over to become head maid, and was too old to keep up with all of the younger staff. This did not mean that she wasn’t a spry woman though. Instead, she mostly gave etiquette lessons to many of the young maidens that were not eligible for the noble lessons themselves.
Micky was both delighted, and fearful of having another source of etiquette lessons. He supposed that it would be a good thing anyway. And she turned out to be a source that was much more reliable than his current instructor. While his instructor was a well rounded noble himself, he did not have near the knowledge and understanding that a ‘real’ noble like the baron did. The baron’s various events and situations were all parked away in the wet library that was the senior maid’s brain.
This would be immensely helpful to Micky should he need them. And she would also be able to help Prin on all things female knight. The maid having an intricate understanding of what would be required of her to be a knight of the lowest rank noble. Something that most knights of the ‘real’ nobles were considered to be themselves.
She would also be able to train up the orphans Micky was planning on adopting. While he knew this wasn’t a true adoption, he was also well aware that it would be much better then what they would receive otherwise. Even Micky himself would have jumped at the opportunity had his situation and fates not turned out to be what they are.
