We didn't make much progress this week in reading. I continued to read 'Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension' today. I'm currently on chapter 129. I only get a few hours a day to read. Luckily, the weekend is approaching. It'll be time for a binge!
I have to say, the 'war' arc wasn't as crazy as I expected. I tend to dislike wars. But in this case, the MC was just trying to find a stable development spot for his family.
It only lasted a few chapters.

I just 'put off' those few chapters as I wasn't really feeling them. But now it seems it is over and the story is focusing on other things.
It also seems that this life is starting to come to an end as the MC is placing contingencies (basically, treasure for his next life) in various spots.
There is something mysterious happening now. A new sect has popped up called the 'origin sect'. So far, the MC's cultivation family has only a hundred cultivators and tens of thousands of mortals.
This seems more common and is actually far above the average. Just having three to four foundation establishment cultivators is enough to be stable and flourish in this setting and location.
So, seeing this new sect pop up and within a few years. It has a hundred foundation establishment cultivators, a few golden cores, a nascent soul, and tens of thousands of those in qi condensation.
But the technique this sect promotes has a nasty side-effect that the MC was only able to learn due to his special book that allows him to see his lifespan and skills/abilities.
My personal theory is that this sect is fueling an ancient old monster with lifespan. Because a new disease has appeared and the sect refuses to let the MC study the bodies of foundation establishment cultivators who contract this illness.
In other stories. I've seen contracts that allow entities to gain lifespan from a deal.
Our MC decided to test the waters since he has multiple lives. He was tempted by the techniques. But when you join the sect. You have to drip some of your blood on an artifact.
I just hope whatever mess this is doesn't manage to follow him across lives. He already knows the technique for rapid growth is a trap. But his rebirth doesn't make him start as a baby.
If he regains his memories after he has already practiced the technique... well...
