Chapter 14

Chapter 14

“Ahahaha! This is awesome!” Lilith shouted as she swung around her iron balls. The next moment, they opened in half forming fangs and barked before growing bigger and bigger and slammed into the ground before shrinking at her will and pulling back as the chain withdrew into her body.

This was the result of eating that simple droplet of life force, it fully awakened her life force and her full ability came to light. Instead of ball and chain, her ability was Chomp Chomp. Yes, the exact same creature from the mario games. The black iron balls with fangs and eyes.

Each of them act as an extension of her mind and she saw what the chomps saw while she also obtained a unique ability to control her chains at will. That means she can freeze up a segment and let the rest swing freely and maybe even make a cage like this.

The other boys had far weaker reactions but had them nonetheless. Oliver developed life force to take the place of his stamina as Robin had expected while Tristan barely had much of a reaction as did Harold.

After that, they turned to Kevin. Following Robin’s instructions, Mr Atlas actually brought out his atlas stones and helped charge the field. As soon as they started, it began to change. Lines that looked like plugs and circuits formed and after 5 minutes a voice said that the basic power was achieved. The field would last for 2 hours at this point and basic systems were active.

They continued and then life force users channeled in and it continued to change but this time really fast and stopped absorbing after a few seconds. It said that the status system was fully operational. The following went on with mental energy and Milo's spiritual energy.

They activated skill and trait systems respectively.

However, Robin thought that they would need to test at least most of the natural energies. Mr Atlas thought for a while and went to a nearby club that had a chi user teacher and asked for his help with the experiment and they added chi and Robin was thankful he did because it activated the stat system which was separate from the main status.

Seeing they had no idea of other natural energies left, they headed to the school's field and placed it down. The field expanded rapidly in all directions until it finally stabilized and faded from view but the change was very present because following this, game windows appeared.

Welcome to Gamer Space

This is gamer space, a pocket field formed from gathered natural energies. Please wait while your stats, class, skills, traits and more are analyzed and quantified. All excess potential you have tapped into will also be channeled into stat points that can be directly used and the effect will show immediately.

They read that and a minute later they heard a ‘Ding’.

In Robin’s eyes the status, skill and trait appeared.

All stats, skills and traits have been scanned and analyzed. Please note the following.

Health point (HP)

Equal to your vitality, aka life force. When it drops to 0, it means your life force is spent and you have died.

Calculated Constitution x (10 + Lvl x 0.1) + (Lvl x 10)

Stamina

A bioenergy which helps the body function and run properly.

Calculated constitution x (3 + Lvl x 0.1) + (Lvl x 10)

Level

A multiplier which increases stat effect by a factor of 0.1 each level

Strength

Physical force the body and muscle can exert at its max. 1 point equals 10 kilo of weight and force exerted.

Agility

Physical speed a person can achieve without skill enhancement and only pure strength. 1 point = 1 km/h

Dexterity

A quantified value that represents flexibility, nimbleness, hand eye coordination, and most bodily control.

Constitution

A quantified value to represent the life force and structural development of the target's body. It also represents physical resistance and defense. Constitution is required to resist the impact of strength in a 1:4 proportion

Intelligence

A quantified value representing mental development. Also represent a person’s IQ in common tests to determine this specific stat

Wisdom

A quantified value representing mental potential that the brain can fully achieve. 1 wisdom can support mental activity equal to 10 intelligence.

Robin rapidly wrote down everything while the others had moved on but they waited for him and then he looked at his stats.

Skills

Elastic Control

Level 5

An innate skill that all people with elastic or rubber based traits possess. It represents the ability to control the extended unique rubber or elastic body at will including maintaining the body stretched or pulling the arm back slower or faster.

Increases ability of manipulating body by 3.5%

Close quarters combat

Level 3

Proficiency in close quarters combat

High speed mental processing

Level 7

A unique skill which allows the user to focus full attention on a subject of desire and analyze information at much faster speeds then normal, doubles Intelligence when active. When active, IQ is generally calculated by 1 wis to 20 int due to the rapid increase of mental processing.

Spring Style Combat

Level 10

A unique rubber body combat style which forces the four limbs into spring shaped spirals to exert greater force. The higher the level, the better the control over spring power, shape and general control over this style.

Traits

Strong Rubber Body

Passive

A natural body with rubber properties. This specific Rubber possesses a strong tensile strength which counters a common rubber body which discounts 30% in strength stat.

Defective Hardening

Active

A hardening ability that is partially incomplete biologically. It does, however, have the ability to harden the material of the body better than normal and can harden different kinds of materials beyond the common flesh and blood. This specific combination has adapted to the rubber body.

Life Force Deficiency

Passive

As a result of the defective hardening, your body possesses a Life Force deficiency. Specific effect happens when the hardening ability is active.

(Due to specific treatment, the deficiency is decreasing naturally and the defective trait is vanishing as the genes are merging more perfectly)

Robin looked and sighed before writing down his stats.

The others were sharing their own and writing down their stats. Robin was also doing calculations to figure out why he had 24 stats and came to a conclusion that it was 10% of his total stat point count.

“Interesting, this is a great way to find many things in people. The traits are even more amazing. Imagine, now the sick people at the institute themselves can identify their natural biological disease but most of all, this could actually help all the student body get a clear picture of their powers.” Mr Atlas said happily as he saw his abilities.

In fact, they asked everyone the descriptions and Tristan and Harold were the happiest.

Harold discovered what he was properly called, which is book control. It was a simple description, ‘ability that enables the user to control books and change their size.’ However, it mentioned that the ability was half active and running on mental energy instead of the required unnatural energy, mana. The ability would in turn become enhanced and it’s capabilities would fully appear and expand from just control size and telekinesis.

Tristan, on the other hand, learned that his ability had much more to it. It was still very undeveloped but by developing his life force, he would enable a new extra ability to sense network channels in the real world. With this ability, he can find nodes within this network which he can inject his life force. This transforms the node into a space which can breed life and properly create digital life forms.

Eventually all the life forms in the node will fight and compete for life force until one is left, which Tristan has to subdue himself and capture the life form. If he succeeds, he loses a small bit of life force which takes the form of a data chip containing the creature's data but his life force becomes stronger as a result of fighting and going through so many life forms. If the data chip is installed into a device like his phone and he injects his life force into it, he can then summon the life form as a real living creature. The more life force he can provide, the stronger it gets.

It was basically a power which created real life digimon, much to the expense of Tristan who became the butt of the others jokes saying that he would be sued by the japanese for his power copying their concept.

“Alright everyone, jokes are fine but we have only 2 hour of this before we need to recharge. Take this chance to beef up your stats. Be smart about it and take your skills and traits into consideration when you do it.” Mr Atlas said.

“Yes sir!” everyone said and focused on their stats.

What Robin actually looked at was the strange skill ‘high speed mental processing’. When he did the count, he knew his intelligence went over the limit of his wisdom. Then he thought about the past and realized that this might be the reason he would sometimes get headaches from focusing on a subject intensely for so long.

With that in mind, he added 4 points to wisdom to make up for this deficiency in his mental capacity that would free up his mind.

This left 20 points. He looked at the relationships between the stats and had to be conscious of them. Wisdom supported intelligence while his constitution supported his strength.

That said, he felt that dexterity and constitution definitely had a connection, especially for him. This was actually something related to his hardened state as well as his regular state.

One of the reasons he never drank Milo’s bone pill is because he felt like it would actually counteract his own flexibility.

Seeing how close dexterity was to constitution, he added 10 points to dexterity and the other ten points went to agility and strength.

Are you sure this is how you desire to use your stat points?

Yes

No

“Has everyone decided?” Robin asked.

“Yeah, it is just asking me if I want to or not.” Lola said.

“Alright, then just accept.” Mr Atlas said and everyone clicked yes.

Instantly everyone was covered in light but Robin instantly fainted as well and collapsed. Shoji and Harold followed right after him and hit the ground without reacting.

The others started to feel various kinds of discomfort from their muscles to their bones but it wasn’t extremely painful.

Only after the glow vanished they could go check on the fainted boys. They were already waking up but their heads were filled with stars.

“What did you kids improve?” Mr Atlas asked.

“Uh… uh… W-wisdom… ag-agility… strength… dexterity.” Robin said.

“Wisdom… intelligence.” Harold said.

“Uh… Wisdom… intelligence… agility.” Shoji said.

“They all did wisdom.” Lola said.

“Could that be the problem?” Lilith asked.

Mr Atlas was thinking and nodded, “It isn’t a problem actually. The wisdom stat read, 1 wisdom can support the activity equal to 10 intelligence. I think wisdom actually represents the brain's max potential and intelligence is the knowledge and activity we put the brain through. Maybe the countless geniuses we see have a higher wisdom making their brains max potential higher. That is why no matter who, their brains usually aren’t ever used to the utmost maximum because that would fatigue their brain cells.” Mr Atlas said.

“Wow, but why did they faint?” Lola asked.

“B-because maybe… our brains had to grow.” Robin said, pausing through the dizziness.

He was coming around and started to shake his head to get over that and put his hands over his eyes and started to massage his head. “My god, I’ve never felt so much pain.” He complained.

“I felt like I was having nails screwed into my head.” Shoji said as he sat up and bent his head forward, “Not to mention that my joints feel like they are on fire.”

They waited it off and eventually got over it but as they looked around and took deep breaths in.

“Wow, it almost feels like the world is different, like it is clearer.” Robin said.

“I know what you mean. It is like my eyes can see better even.” Shoji said.

“What about me, my weakened eyes actually got better and I don't need glasses.” Harold said, taking off his glasses and looking around in awe.

“How low was your wisdom for it to affect your eyes?” Robin asked.

“It wasn’t that low, I had 8 wisdom.” He said.

“Woah, I had 10 but there was that big a difference!” Robin said.

Mr Altas smiled, “So I was right, wisdom is tied directly to the brain's potential. I think the gamer space actually cleared mental blocks and made brain cells multiply, something not common since brains grow only when you are a fetus. After that the number will only go down. This is an amazing discovery since we can actually cure mental illnesses with this.” Mr Atlas said.

“Wow, one new curing method after another.” Lola laughed.

“This just means that our ideas for what we want to do as heroes isn’t a bad one. If we were lucky enough to find two new ability users with such amazing healing methods then it just means we are doing the right thing.” Robin said.

Everyone nodded.

“Hey, why not go to the institute and try this out on it. It would be great to confirm if that is true or not.” Shoji said.

“Yeah, if what Robin said is true, I believe 10 points is the natural wisdom limit. Lower than that could mean it is getting weaker.” Mr Atlas said but froze. “Wait, if you improved your brain capacities, have your abilities gotten better?” He asked.

“My Psychic energy is fluctuating so i haven’t tried. I went from 8 to 15 wisdom so I think my brain is still in the process of adapting to the big change.” Harold said.

“Mine is less. My ability has always been eye based, I can sense and see emotional auras so it hasn’t ever been connected to that much psychic type energy.” Shoji replied.

“Okay, before we go to the institute, all you kids need to call your parents. Before that though, let’s take advantage of the gamer space to see the limits we can actually achieve.” he said.

Everyone happily agreed and started, the gamer space made it easier to train in. Once it finally broke down, everyone called their parents and got permission to go to the institute while Shoji and Milo called a car each to take everyone.
