Hero's Rise
Book 2 Chapter 17

Book 2 Chapter 17

Standing roughly a kilometer away from the school outside of Richmond, Chasm Might and Server Admin looked extremely serious while their sidekicks were constantly arriving.

The school students were there as well, extremely tense, and every one of them was armored up. Those that needed to charge were already doing that. However, these two were not the only ones.

Standing there, with a muscular build but wearing a suit while having blood red hair and a pair of horns with a black tail and wings was the hero that anyone with anything related to demons admired, Mephesto.

Being in such close proximity Lola had summoned all her servants who had become Greater Demons and got a feel for the man.

Standing next to him was one of the men who stood at the pinnacle of technology. With the power, Hardware body, he was like a biological cyborg and as technology advanced he assimilated and enhanced his capacity and strength. He looked no different from a normal person but his clothing was a skin tight plug suit which was a second skin made of special synthetic material and the plugs were connected to a chair which further extended to hundreds of blocks of some form of technology. His hero name was simply Techno.

Standing to the side was one of the most creative psychics, a man with purely psychic energy control but developed his mind so much that he became extremely powerful. He was also, at one point, Server Admin’s classmate and was one of the few people he helped access gamer stats but it had been years since he achieved any growth through the system as he had constantly been pushing his body and mind. His alias was Esper, plain and simple.

The fifth hero was a man with blue fire for hair, he looked outwardly normal but he was far from that. This man was Blue Phoenix, a man with a special kind of flame which is said to be able to heal infinitely and can affect others to a certain degree. The flames can also be used to negate or resist certain powers.

Finally, the person who would most easily resist time warping. One of the oldest men on earth matching even the Seer and the only hero who is not affiliated to any one nation, he did not make any hero name for himself and introduces himself by his name, Vincent Death but even heroes unanimously refer to him as the Death God or the Elder Lich.

On his back is the primary weapon and on his waist is a magical grimoire dating back to long before the era of superpowers. This man possesses the power to control death energy nearly unequaled by any necromancer and can summon even the strongest undead.

Ironically, Server Admin thought deeply into the message the Seer gave them and thought of the elite class of the school, and in particular Kevin’s close circle. What the twins and Robin had joked about with the creation of a Hero academy had been what he thought about when he called upon these men.

Vincent was called because of Milo, Mephesto would be an amazing teacher for Lola, Blue Phoenix for Rudy who was also an elemental bird and they had some hint that he could completely convert his body into elemental force like Blue Phoenix could when he assumed his full phoenix form, finally Esper was called for Shoji who showed great promise in the art of psychic control.

“Kevin.” Server Admin said and he didn’t do much except open the field around the entire group but stopping it from entering the academy near them. The parts were all there.

Server Admin released his own system connecting to it like another part of the system.

His mind quickly worked in Kevin’s place and he marked all the heroes for priority scan.

They all felt the effect, “Before we do anything, take the advantage to do what, whoever is waiting, wants to do. We fight and injure ourselves countless times every year.” He said.

The four others just looked and Techno grinned, “Wow, so you finally got a large scale system. The system programming is pretty basic.” He said.

“That is because it has 6 levels of growth and it is currently limited to the 1st. It is best to take what we can get.” he said.

After a moment all of their strengths were calculated and world power began to gather rapidly as the scan headed down the line to the bravemen.

Vincent looked at the numbers and asked for a resumed explanation which Server Admin gave.

“Then divide my stats into six and spread them evenly. All excess goes to my constitution.” He said simply.

The others looked and agreed to this assessment.

“Wait, that is a huge amount to your brains, it will cause it to evolve and you will faint for a while.” Admin said.

“My brain has developed through my powers for the last century, what this little toy can most likely do is wake up my dead cells at best.” He said, “As proof, my wisdom is already 250.” He replied.

Server Admin sighed and just let it be. The villains can’t even attack them until their lead figure has healed.

They all accepted the same arrangement and this actually followed through from hero all the way down to even the strongmen pros under them.

The mass of energy and potential surged at them in order and everyone could hear small cracks and pops but also felt their hearts beat harder from the pressure these people began to give off. It was like five mountains who were competing to get bigger.

When the light was fully sucked up, not a single one of the five had collapsed and they just opened their eyes. The most was a slight shake of their head to get the dizziness off.

“So how does it feel?” Chasm Might asked looking at them before looking at the many Bravemen and Strongmen.

Techno projected a holographic screen while his mechanical eyes began to scan himself beyond the status screen. “Hmm, it is quite good, it worked many tiny software kinks from my internal system and helped blend some parts more naturally in my body.” Techno said.

“The injuries from Time Tempest in my bones are gone.” Mephesto said, narrowing his eyes and stimulating the intense power of his body making Lily and the other four tremble.

Esper opened his eyes, “This effect is far better than yours Admin, I was just scanning my own brain and the others who added over 400 points to it and the entire brain structure has evolved. Dead cells are reborn, the entire brain structure has evolved and contains efficiency that should be impossible for natural human development for the next millennium.” Esper said.

“Yes, we’ve noticed that. It has helped students with the potential to unlock mental energy. Of course those with a natural source could not but those without them have shown signs.” Admin server said.

Blue Phoenix on the other hand began to stretch as he cracked his body. “Damn, I didn’t know the death slice I took from Tartarus 8 years ago had left such deep scars. Several muscle groups were healed in this process that even my flames that couldn’t completely purify, the death energy stuck there is gone as well. It even strengthened my flame’s immunity towards death energy.” he said and did a turn causing the entire spinal cracking from top to bottom.

“Feels good huh, I had some organ damage and many small muscle groups that were clenched but after relaxing, I can punch with full force.” Chasm replied to the Phoenix.

“Alright, it seems you all achieved your full strength, who is going to stay and guard the followers from any possibly hidden threats.” Admin asked.

Esper turned to look at the students and his eyes stopped a moment at a few psychics.

The others looked.

“I am fighting.” Mephesto said.

“Same.” Chasm Might said.

“I’ll not be left out!” Blue Phoenix said.

Of those remaining, Admin looked at Esper and Vincent.

There was a rapid conversation among them and Admin nodded, “Then I will join the fight.”

Mephesto took a moment's glance at the five summoned demons while behind it was a nearly fully formed imp which Lola was ready to merge with.

He was among the few who had extremely few actual demon user sidekicks. In fact, there were only 4 people with him and the one that stood out was a pretty young girl two years older than Lola who radiated a pure aura like a saint.

He gave her a glance and the girl turned towards Lola and smiled.

They waited as the last of the people present finished tapping into their potential and waking anyone who couldn’t handle the wisdom boost.

These people were told to stick back since they would find it strange to move around for a few days.

After that, Kevin extended the field all the way into the academy and Server Admin just looked at the phone and called it, “Your field is open.” He said simply and shut it off.

Like that, everyone was silent.

Kevin controlled the field and got a big warning.

Warning

Unknown hero level being located, do you wish to allow him access to his status?

Kevin showed it to the others who found it interesting, “So you can’t even hide it huh. A lot less low tech than I thought.” Techno said.

“Allow.” Server Admin said as he opened his inventory and began to mess with an expanded system and suddenly his clothing began to shine and change into special armor and he pulled out knuckle gauntlets and then a large spiked club appeared.

Esper looked at him, “You still like to crush things despite your high skill that could slice things up at the micro level.” He said.

Server Admin grinned and took out a curved sword for him and tossed it.

He took it and admired the sword and together with Vincent they walked back.

At that moment, an explosion happened and a bright light of node energy came bursting out while covering the figure. A loud echoing voice resound out changing several times until it stabilized on one voice that sent a chill down Chasm Might and Mephesto’s back before intense anger filled them both.

“Tempest.” they said.

“They actually brought him here out of all of them.” Techno said.

“Sir! The system just warned me that 8 figures have just surpassed the stat arrangement you and Mr Might wrote down for grading hero strength. The system now regards them as Hero Class Villains.” He said.

“8…” Server admin said.

“Admin, by chance did you do something stupid like complete whip information off the grid for this kid?” Techno asked.

“Of course I did, do you think I would leave his information out in the open.” He replied

“Then this isn’t as simple as healing Tempest and killing you both, they are after your disciples.” Techno said grinning as he exerted himself. Suddenly the chair began to change while his own body warped and a glowing orb appeared from his chest and the chair formed a capsule. “Get ready boys, there are more enemies that can cause immense decimation. All strongmen immediately spread out and evacuated the city within 50 km of this point. Hero access, signal top rank red alert.” Techno said as the connected blocks began to move and open up while connecting and pulled towards the capsule and started to cover and transform until what stood there was an 8 meter tall giant robot that formed thruster wings.

“There is no gradual start up this time.” Mephesto said as the ground began to shake and the skies covered with clouds.

Walking back Esper just raised his hand and instantly all the students started to float and the two protectors instantly accelerated with all of them expanding the distance of safety to over 5 km.

They watched as six massive swords fell down before a hazy image of a six armed demon god appeared gripping each of them and standing up and Mephesto roared as he entered it’s head and rose up and solidified into a 30 meter tall giant.

“That power!” Lily exclaimed.

“That’s Mephesto’s full manifestation!” Lola shouted.

“How… that’s the fragment of the Demon God’s bone.” She said.

“What is that?” Lola asked.

Suddenly the pretty girl among Mephesto’s followers appeared. “Hello dear, you must be the demon summoner. It seems you also have quite intelligent ones. You’re right, my father’s avatar is the result of the demon god bone fragment.” She said.

“Those things don't appear in this world! How is it here!” Lily said.

“They can, a perfect example of beings that shouldn’t be here is you. Demons shouldn’t normally be able to appear here. That said, you probably sensed my father’s Archdemon isn’t a normal possession right?” She asked.

“I feel lifeless despite the source being a Greater demon.” Galman said.

“That’s because my father was originally bound to an Imp at birth. Mindless, their life force was shared and he brought it up to a lesser demon when he discovered this mindless imp was sealing the fragment inside his body. The bone makes it impossible for demons to form sentient minds but it contains knowledge of how to progress.” She said.

“Your father! Why do you feel different?” Lola asked.

“Because I have the opposite power that you have. You summon demons, I summon angels.” She said and from her hand, life force formed and from it, a small white winged human formed smiling and radiating a faint holy light. “This is but a minion like your imps. My servant, just like your greater demon, has advanced into a deity already. My servant was the god who put the fragment into my father and in doing so, their power along with it reduced to a weak being and I was born with a bond to it which helped return their soul to heaven and form my contract. So we have a lot in common.” She said.

“Opposite powers.” Lola said.

On the side, Vicent Death looked at Milo up and down, “Your power is pretty undeveloped, you lack resistance, affinity and even capacity to store death energy. At this rate, you're going to have to rely on undead. That is a dangerous child.” He said.

“Huh? You can tell?” he asked.

“Of course I bloody can. I’m from an order of the original necromancers who practiced the old ways of true necromancy, the same ones who originally discovered the nether realm for our world and studied their powers. Yours is but a biological adaptation created by the world to access this power.” he said.

“Are all necromancers from the same branch?” He asked.

“There is but one, those like you are naturally new branches but we take them all into our fold so that they are not swallowed in their arrogance or corrupted by this path.” He said.

He looked at Bargo who stood behind him.

“Your warrior requires a horse.” He said.

“I’m almost ready to make an armored warhorse from a skeleton for it but I’ve had to make lots of parts from bone matter.” He said.

“That is but remedial growth but I feel the feedback it gives you.” he said and looked out at the chaos.

The light burst vanished in the sky and the two giants burst forward holding nothing back while Chasm Might jumped, exploding the earth below them and Server admin vanishing like a shadow and blue phoenix burst into flames and flew into the air.

At that moment, an extremely loud alarm sounded throughout the entire city.

“Warning, warning! This is not a drill, this is a top class red alert. At this moment, Time Tempest has engaged with five heroes who have emerged from Redclaw Private academy! Several bravemen said to be close to hero class have been confirmed! Please evacuate from the proximity from the city effective immediately!”

It sounded again and began to repeat the message and instantly people began to rush out from buildings only to feel a massive explosion as the six figures made contact causing any clouds to be blown away and bursting up into the air.

Windows shattered and everyone felt like they were punched from the shockwave from 5 km away.

Vincent looked around, “You all, spread out and protect the civilians, brave men, prepare to engage anyone leaving the academy.

He didn’t move to help but his book began to float and release a pitch black energy which began to gather. Milo felt the power of spiritual energy blending with the death energy and it expanded above forming a massive oval before it was sucked in by some kind of creature and a resounding roar nearly deafened everyone as two massive bone wings formed and extended down to the ground and two legs coming down.

The body was nearly 80 meters long and easily dwarfed Scar by several times.

“Watch the academy and warn me when the strongest life signs move. If they approach, attack.” He said.

After that, he just shook his hand and a death energy portal formed behind him and a white bone metal chair formed behind him and he sat down and sighed. “Healed or not, my age is difficult to fight.” He groaned.

Esper smiled, “Just relax sir, even if you skeleton dragon can’t beat any of these newly strengthened villains, I can easily deal with them.” he said and looked at Shoji and smiled.

“I heard you are friends with Chasm Might’s apprentice.” He said.

“Yeah… this is him.” Shoji said, elbowing Robin.

“Oh, this is the one. I see, the processed world power makes sense now. That said, I am curious about you. You’ve processed mental energy despite not normally having it and your mental ability is the fastest growing I've heard. Server Admin said you developed a psychic slash, mind showing me.” he said.

Shoji felt strange while Vincent looked and sighed before pointing to Milo, “Boy, I heard you made your own dragon as well… summon it so I can evaluate your work.” He said.

The two were caught in a strange position but Robin elbowed Shoji, “Go.” he whispered.

The other students couldn’t be more envious but they both did as told.

Shoji drew his katana and clad his sword but the people around them moved to avoid the attack, “Don’t worry, there is a thick barrier, nothing you do can actually break it so just lash it and I will feel.” he said.

Shoji nodded and released the slash and it came off like a purple energy that hit the barrier and surprisingly it left a thin slice in the barrier which could be seen when the light hit it.

On the side, Milo summoned Scar and it came out growling before it looked up and grew quiet very quickly before looking at his master.

“Oh… a death dragon instead of a skeleton dragon. How did you make it?” Vincent asked.

Milo recounted his childish ambition and used a common lizard. The size grew only after they got the pills so the flesh didn’t break despite the growing bones and finally the soul congealing pill that made it truly evolve.

“I see… nature has its ways of fixing man’s problems but this is a good specimen for a first attempt.” he said, giving what seemed like a compliment.

On the side, Lola was talking with Mephesto’s daughter but she had unsummoned the others and merged and she was explaining the poor essence distribution imps had and that merging was basically achieving the same thing her father did. It was possible to make imps advance very fast by properly fixing their essence distribution.

Lola was trying that and surprisingly, the tail and wings grew out before her nails turned into claws and she soon achieved her natural essence division before splitting while forcing the imp to maintain that and it started to feel strange and tried to return to the biological essence form it had but her control was better and it slowly growled and actually unsummoned itself.

“Woah, it could do that?” She asked.

“Supernatural creatures are very unique. Its soul understood something advanced and it began to awaken so despite not having a lot of life force, it has begun to evolve.” She said with a smile.

That said, her smile froze and her eyes turned, “We will have to talk later, summon a new imp.” She said.

She swung her hand and hundreds of small angels formed before gathering on one and it merged into her body forming a large halo but the great beauty slowly changed as ribbons with eyes began to form around her and she spread four wings on her back.

The two heroes also felt it and the skeleton dragon roared and burst forward and released a torrent of baleful breath impacting a powerful bullet of air shooting their way and stopping it.

Instantly the heroes swung their arms thick bones and barriers formed all around them and these sharp air streams smashed into each but stopped.

“This attack! This is the guy that killed Mr Atlas!” Robin shouted.

“What kind of power is it?” Vincent asked.

“It’s some kind of air manipulation but it goes so fast that it can pierce like a bullet.” Robin said as his pupils contracted and his mind doubled in speed and his eyes started to move until his eye stopped above.

BOOM!

Suddenly the ground burst and a man covered in red glowing mass while his eyes were glowing red. He grinned, “Esper, you fucker, I finally got you near me! I’m going to strangle and twist that neck of yours like I should have long ago!” he growled.

Esper frowned “Fury.” He said.

“You know this fool?” Vincent asked.

“He is an annoyance, his power is emotional drive, he boosts his power depending on his emotions and different emotions produce different effects. This effect extends to those in his surroundings because he stimulates emotions.”

To his side, Shoji looked at the man with a frown, “His emotional shadow is crying… not angry.” he said.

“Huh…” the man said and his focus was instantly on Shoji. “Little bastard… you psychics are all the same!”

In shoji’s eyes suddenly the crying blue shadow suddenly exploded like a purple flame but the tears were still there, in his ears he heard it’s words, “It’s always you psychics that take everything from me!”

“Stand back!” Esper said as he took the same attack posture as Shoji had and his psychic energy flowed but compared to the chaotic energy, it was smooth and he rushed forward and swung.

The red mass around Fury exploded in size, doubling his mass and he rushed forward like a bull and attacked like a berserker.

The next moment, the right arm was cut off.

“This is how you properly use psychic cut.” He said and instantly vanished and when he finally appeared he stopped and formed a barrier as twenty streams shot at him.

The mass of energy was cut apart.

“It’s changing!” Shoji shouted.

“Huh?!” Esper muttered only for the mass to form a giant fist and smash him through the buildings.

“Brat, your power is quite dangerous for me.” Fury said, looking at Shoji.

The dense purple shadow cooled down from a mix of sadness and anger to a cold apathy. The mass opened around his body before gathering as a dense shield around his body and took the shape of different blades on each arm.

“Your power bloomed.” A voice from the side. Esper walked out soon after, “You couldn’t do this before, it seems the gamer space has a lot of hidden nuances such as aiding in blooming.” He said. “Sadly, I’m tasked with protection so I can't play with you.” He said and his form vanished before a pained shout came and another villain came crashing down.

“Children, don’t disperse or run or you will be a target.” Vincent said on his chair.

“Old man, you should worry about yourself.” Another villain appeared releasing condensed light from his hand.

“Oh, amazing that someone with evil intentions can possess holy power. Interesting.” He said laughing and stood up before pulling a sickle but dense death energy infused into it and expanded until it was a full sized scythe.

“Good and evil is in the eye of the beholder. Winners tell history what is right.” the man said.

“Indeed.” Vincent replied, “But you brats had best come at me with at least 5 of you, or you will die a miserable death without trying.” He said and slowly his cloak covered his body and two red points appeared from the hood over his face and no one behind him could see into the cloak.

Soon a full seven villains appeared while a final was attacking the bone dragon at the academy.

Turbulence was looking at Robin.

“You little rubber shit, I killed your teacher to prevent that power from causing more problems but you had to inherit it. Blame your luck.” Turbulence said and released a powerful shot at Robin while the other two were busy. Five streams gathered and compressed into one and smashed into the psychic barriers forming cracks.

The other students cried out but Robin scowled as he looked at the covered face, “A coward to the end. Can’t even fight alone and has to distract others to attack a child.” He replied.

Instantly he ground his teeth but his instincts screamed and jumped back and a massive psychic slash cleaved through where he stood.

“You had best focus, our orders are not to apprehend.” Esper said coldly.

He strengthened the barrier and looked at the seven. “Now that I think about it, you seven plus the eighth are the annoying pests that run most crime along the north east coast from Virginia to New york. It seems today is a lucky clean up day.” Esper said.

“It seems so.” Vincent said and he slashed the air cleaving a black and green portal open and from this hole, a bony hand appeared and a skeleton dressed in royal attire appeared.

“Val’ric, summon your royal guard.” Vincent said.

“Yes.” the skeleton said and it’s hollow eyes glowed.

At once they attacked and in a seven on two, the two heroes clashed and instantly all the children felt the immense power they all possessed right in front.

When the clash happened, suddenly Mephesto’s daughter burst out, swung at Fury sending him back and formed a bow of light and holy power and shot him with it.

“You little tramp!” Fury roared and his anger burst forth.

In the barrier, the students watched in awe and horror, unable to move to not distract the two and unable to help the population from the catastrophic battle.

That said, things got really bad when a laugh came from behind the barrier.

“Hello kiddies, welcome to the real world!” he shouted and a powerful psychic wave rushed through the barrier sending all the students away.

“What!” The two heroes shouted as only a single man remained grinning. “I hope your little charge can survive, they are now in the thick of our ranks.” He said laughing and psychic waves formed around him as he tried to get away.

That said, Esper appeared through his psychic waves swinging his sword forcing him out.

He clicked his tongue, “As expected of the copy cat psychic.” he said.

“It will take getting used to but I have to thank you for showing me such a large scale teleportation skill. These are extremely rare and science is going to benefit from this.” Esper said. “Now then, I think you should all get serious because I’m not going to limit myself since I don’t have to teach watchers anymore. Also, those students weren’t alone, you’ve stupidly sent many of the sidekicks into your ranks as much as those elite students. You had best hope your men leveled up enough to handle it.” he said and both men stopped caring about holding back while at the same time, undead and barriers formed to protect civilians and block debre.

For the students, they found themselves right under the five hero’s war and the immense constantly spreading war against the dragon.

“Shit!” Robin shouted as his body instantly hardened and he shouted to get down before a massive shockwave came down.

“Someone teleported us over here!” Lola shouted.

“I know, we have to get away but it looks like the dragon is taking massive damage.” Robin said.

“We can’t fight those guys!” Lola said.

“Screw you if we can’t!” Marcus shouted and ran forward before expanding and with a roar, a giant man turned only to find a massive gorilla of over 16 meters punching it’s face.

“We can’t do much now, everyone, help the dragon!” Robin shouted.

Robin looked at Kevin who nodded and messed with the inventory as he took out his own gear which resembled Server Admin and he rushed forward.

For Robin, his legs rapidly twisted and he burst forward into a swarm while his fist filled with Titan force and came down like a hammer and sent them flying.
