Besides relaxing and training during the summer, a lot of people pulled back from working. The last year had caused an unimaginable amount of mental stress to a host of people because it thrust a lot of them into the dark side of society.
It wasn’t entirely free from the influence of ‘him’ but it showed the depths of human depravity which was chilling.
Robin himself had to take the summer for breaks and a month in actually asked for some psychological help to process his emotions and thoughts. Like most ‘major’ changes he faced, the stress of each major change was too stressful and he needed help.
Others didn’t have that much trouble but Robin did. Maybe because he had lived his life fighting for anything, he had trouble figuring out things that needed self reflection since most of it had been physical limitations.
It couldn’t have been a better thing to do for him. It was shocking even to him just how much Beat Springer’s betrayal had affected him. Sure he had been flooded with Ruth’s memories and anger but what Springer had said during their meeting had been motivational only to come back and become an insult that had unconsciously been affecting him.
He also found just how much the bullying in his childhood had affected him. The decade of insults and jokes was by no means a small scar to heal.
The psychologist was a psychic and he had actually learned the mind diving and mind searching techniques so he actually suggested some Mind diving sessions.
With the help of a tool to make it possible for him to enter while Robin made a small opening in his mental defense, he was allowed in and helped him within his mind. Robin was shocked when they encountered memories which were like massive scars of destruction within his mind.
It was also probably the first time he had cried about any of this stuff. Even two centuries after the appearance of powers, male mental health was not an extreme priority so all this built up anger and these scars were able to form even after the demons that had occupied these spaces were destroyed and the memories still affected him.
Even with only two month's, tackling the scars directly was exceptionally good for Robin, his mind felt lighter.
He looked up at the genetic tree. All of the human biology was activated and his mind was running the thousand processes as he was running through his current potential that had been gathering over the last week powering up both mythical traits.
Robin had not trained with these powers even once, he just trained his physical body and transformations through training his energy. He honestly didn’t know how to activate these racial abilities.
When he finally stopped, the energy connected to the center and both circles were active but he knew this was just the first step. There was a poor compatibility but he already knew which traits were compatible. They were naturally the ones closest to each other and despite having one flow for most flows, that did not mean a node could not have more.
There were random trait nodes between them which was the genetics the system had used to stabilize his powers.
He checked each one and found the corresponding nodes and they channeled energy into each node to build the links before energy lines connected among the external traits and then returned to both circles at different points returning it all into a natural flow.
Robin watched the changes happening and started to check areas that began to show larger energy consumption and as you can expect, adding two incompatible biologies would require compensation on some parts. These were also not the ‘greatest’ traits. Like the human biology, it was healthy athletic types and there were better ones to replace them with in higher level physiology packs but this was the basic he needed to start with.
When it was done, the energy flow was as best as he could get it. He could tell some energy waste was because of the poor compatibility and not having traits to compensate for those faults.
Still they would not function properly.
“Done… implement.” Robin said.
The system saved it and his body felt the change. Robin pulled up his status. The last year had come with a lot of growth and he was catching up to Lola.
His four physical stats, with the multiplier, had achieved or was close to breaching the 10k. His mental stats had doubled since the start of last year. Effectively he had broken long past the braveman state though other braveman who were achieving level 2 energies were also growing explosively. Heatwave, and even Moonlight who learned how to channel her energy properly from Robin, were both growing on the way to hero status.
Mr Atlas was probably the person with the most explosive growth since he not only caught up to students after coming out of the rock but he had surpassed a vast majority as he followed Robin’s training method.
Of course, he did not have Chasm Might’s traits, he actually had stats in the 6 thousands while Robin had 10k because of chasm Might’s traits.
Those traits in particular had been incorporated into the human physiology and were connecting greatly to the strength segments of the two mythical physiology but having greater compatibility to the dragon DNA while mental energy connected better to fae dna.
Robin honestly didn’t know the difference between Fae and Fairy.
In some myths it was just a different name for fairies and in the other it was an actual different creature. Goblins are considered fairies as well so he was weirded out.
He hadn’t displayed much change beyond the initial changes caused by the physiology change.
After he got out of his thoughts he added the 20 points needed to help implement the changes and felt a burning. They hadn’t been fully active originally and he didn’t feel a change but now that the system was complete his body felt like it was burning up and he cried out.
It felt like this body was trying to split and he felt immense pain until it was done. He huffed in pain after finishing. His entire body was tingling.
Notice, your body has implemented the physiology of Fae and Dragon and your brain is currently in a confused state. The user’s mind is currently unable to comprehend the changes or coherently affect the system so it will implement 100 points to intelligence.
His brain went into a buzz and he nearly blacked out. It had been a long time since it had reacted like that and that buzz ran through his entire body as he felt his nerves pulse on overdrive and seemed to feel the scan of his body before it slowly returned to his brain and the pulsing rewired itself until it was done.
Changes complete, your brain is now more adapted to the changes caused by the physiologies. Physiologies have been activated and they will now implement their most basic effects upon your natural form. The system has simulated greatly and among the traits gained with the physiology is a transformation trait linked to your hardening, the core activation sequence reflex. As such, you will retain human form and can even harden as you once did but within the hardening reflex there is the activation reflex to assume the Fae and Dragon hybrid physiology.
Robin took a long time to get up from the jarring experience, he hoped it would be milder but it will only grow better after he had 100% compatibility.
When he finally got up he breathed and hardened himself. He felt two reflexes activate but he went with the one that felt familiar and his body turned black and hardened normally. There was next to no change except for maybe the claws that formed at the tip of his hands. He made sure to check and there wasn’t anything else that changed, even going to the mirror to make sure.
He then went to his backyard in case there was a size shift and activated the other reflex.
Starting from his face, he felt the hardening activate alongside it but he felt it clump and form a scale and it spread out from there over his body and even cover and flatten his hair under the scales and push it facing backwards like a mane. His exposed hairs however turned into long feathers and a small pair of horns grew from his head.
It spread down his body and formed a scaly body and his legs shifted to a lizard-like leg while his fingers formed claws.
Finally a tail extended. That said when it finished he felt a lot of conflicting reflexes like a lot was left out or pushing against each other.
When he pulled one he was shocked that the tail pulled in and he suddenly extended four wings that stretched his shirt far.
He had to undo this and take it off to see. It looked like a butterfly wing merged with dragon wings, it was two pairs of wings, one large and one small and was multicolored glittering scales.
As he activated other aspects that were in conflict his dragon shape returned to humanoid form and became like a human sized fairy.
“Urg! I really can’t use this.” Robin said and pulled it all back and ran to the bathroom and vomited.
Examining physiology… higher incompatibility rate than the system had perceived.
Current compatibility has been registered at 25% and is unusable in its merged state. However, users should be able to comprehend which reflex pertains to which physiology.
Notice, the system has identified 52 genetic instances which are possible causes for the nausea the host is feeling.

“Are you alright son?” Robin’s dad asked after hearing the sounds.
“I’m urg! fine… urg!” Robin said and after a bit his father came with a cup of water after he finished. “It’s fine… just a… fuck up on using… my powers.” He said.
“Is it the combination again? I saw you turn into something.” He asked.
“Yeah… Don’t worry about it though. I’ll work through it and have everything safely plotted out for the other guys. How is it for you?” Robin asked.
He smiled, “I’ve not tried to activate more than just the basics. Your sister has been helping me set up the human stuff, I don’t need the big dragon stuff. Your mom however…” He said looking out the door to the woman that had grown even more beautiful, like otherworldly, had activated a bit of her Fae biology. Since there is no conflicting dna, hers activated naturally as it blended with the rubber body she innately had.
Of course, it also means she needs a lot of forceful level ups but she wasn’t going to be a hero regardless.
When Robin felt better his father helped him to the kitchen and dining room and got him some crackers and water and his stomach slowly settled down.
Through all that he checked the traits and found a lot of red lines connected through the biology and even traits he had in red because it seems several traits were lacking the proper connection.
Robin fixed the connections he could make but the ones lacking a link he could only wait to calm down to think about it.
Soon Ruth came down and outside and did just like him, Robin watched and saw that it was like him. Ruth had learned the hardening reflex and actually achieved hardening first because it was just simpler but it still took her a while since she’s never done it before. After that she did the full merge.
As you can expect, as she explored the transformation, wings came out, tail vanished and then the compatibility shock happened and she came rushing in and began a new round of vomiting sounds.
Robin and his father forced a smile and he went to console his daughter.
The twins soon passed that and they sat together and looked at it all.
“Wow… is this how it feels to fight your own body.” Ruth said.
“Welcome to my world.” Robin said, “System, have you been able to identify traits required to link?” Robin asked.
A host of similar traits were located but the viability is limited to simulations. However the recent transformation and live test proved the 40% compatibility to be inaccurate and gave the system more information to work with. It is currently in the process of testing via scans of both transformations using all viable traits; however, each combination will take a long time to plot out.
“Plot out the simplest and most direct trait sequence and then work out for the more complex.” Ruth said.
Understood
The twins sigh and let their heads drop. Then Robin looked around because he had not had the time to notice but his vision felt strange. He then noticed that his eyes were still actively under some kind of new reflex. When he actively relaxed it, his vision returned to normal and he noticed from Ruth.
“Wha! Your eyes.” Robin said.
She blinked and took out her phone and gasped. Her eyes were slits but they were actually glowing and shifting colors. Soon her eyes returned to normal and she blinked.
The two looked and tried that reflex and actually felt their supernatural vision try to activate but they had a keen control of that psychic reflex.
Their eyes transformed in full this time and the world around them changed and it began to shift and create colors but their brains were not overloading. The strangest part is that they saw colors swirl and somehow understood the meaning of these colors.
“What is this?” Ruth muttered.
“Could our eyes have evolved further because of dragons and fae eyes?” Robin asked. “System, what is the length of our eye’s spectrum view?” Robin asked.
Scanning… your eyes currently view with the extension of infrared and ultraviolet. They have fully activated and adapted thanks to the natural eyes of fae and dragon. Dragons possess a higher infrared vision due to their reptilian biology and fae view in ultraviolet and its combinations.
“Eh…” The two muttered and blinked, “Is that why we developed natural extended vision?” Robin asked.
Affirmative, the extent of your eyes is seen only in native celestials and demons due to their need to seek out and understand all forms of communication, some of which require vision as some creatures speak through colors and lights beyond the basic light spectrum.
“Well… that’s something.” Robin muttered and looked at the DNA and wondered if they were becoming something scary by mortal standards.
“Will this vision keep extending further?” Ruth asked.
Affirmative, celestials and demons have natural vision extending much further in the spectrum. That said, there is no vision extending beyond the limits of infrared and ultraviolet. The so-called x-ray vision is simply an application of supernatural vision which can focus and isolate certain substances and filter them from your vision as if they did not exist and your brain conceptualizes the form through micro waves of psychic or psionic energy.
They nodded and asked it to continue and they both went to rest from the effects on their stomachs. Besides tentatively eating dinner the two returned to bed because their bodies still felt very strange and the next morning the system had gone through to find the most basic stabilization sequence and several others building in increased complexity.
They both groaned at the prices of every piece, “So expensive… which parts are making us sick.” Ruth asked.
It took a moment for it to point out areas with a total of a 6 traits
They groaned because the traits were expensive even with all the energy efficiency the system had gone through. They didn’t think about not spending money though, it was really affecting the two and they picked the simplest version initially and got the traits and then connected the energy flow and modified it before letting the system scan it for changes.
They got the go ahead, it was to stabilize their condition purely.
These traits were human biology in nature so there were no problems or dangers of affecting them.
It instantly helped their shifting stomachs but they made sure to not try and transform.
The next time will be after they decide the final form because it takes so much energy to get the system active.
“So exactly what new powers did we get besides the more stable eyes?” Robin asked.
The current physiology is on the level of NPC. The physiology of a dragon at this level can at most be considered a winged lizard transformation with the eyes being the most supernatural aspect. The only other aspect that should have changed is that the Fae physiology would allow you to interact with elemental energy via psionic energy to a much greater degree. Effectively your psychic aspect will be improved.
“Okay.” Robin nodded.
They spent the remains of their summer adapting to the changes and Robin found that being able to physically see elemental energy made manipulating it shockingly easy and seeing the infrared and ultraviolet spectrums, or even focusing on either one, allowed him rather magical powers when he interacted with these unique colors formed from their combination with the light spectrum.
He didn’t know how to explain it but it was a magical experience but regardless, his primary form of fighting was his body and the control was getting better each step of the way.
***
Deep in the fogs of ‘his’ demonic smog, a near feral growling could be heard far and wide. Like a wild beast, ‘he’ was in a dark fragment of the continent while technology was the only way normal people could transmit information and never a direct channel but a message.
The last three months had been hell for him because he had felt it. Earth’s dimensional barrier being pierced by divinity. It was tantalizing, like a dog with meat just out of reach. It was driving him mad because he knew it would be too dangerous to attack them.
This caused his hatred of Robin to absolutely explode in magnitude.
“That… that little bug! It’s his fault! His fault that my future body is gone! The perfect vessel in case I never could get the death and hell gods!” he said.
Saliva dropped down from his lips and sizzled as the ground melted from the toxic substance.
He was nearly losing his mind until a torrent of time energy impacted his body and seemingly woke his mind by inducing intense danger to his very person.
Turning to the source, Time Tempest stood there leaning against something lost in the darkness, likely a tree, stone or wall. It did not matter to ‘him’.
“What an unsightly appearance, it seems this little body has reached its limits for your deranged mind.” he said.
A gurgled growl came from ‘him’ but it was true. When he said that, something snapped and a coldness filled the feral being and he finally stood up and, shockingly, the fog exploded and vanished to reveal the form.
Tempest looked and raised a brow, it looked like a black skinned human with twisted black feathered wings and curved horns and hoofed feet. The strangest part were the black veins spread all over his body that looked like cracks. The creature stood 2 meters tall and had half human half beast face and it was mangled.
“It has…” A grumbled inhuman voice said.
“How much does this make?” Time Tempest asked.
“There is no need to count but that little bug… the bug that crushed you, I will make him pay for taking away my nearly perfect vessel!” He roared, causing the ground to crack at the pressure of his voice alone.
Tempest watched as he leaned against a destroyed wall. “I came to report that I’ve tested infusing time energy through the test subjects but unless they have absurd healing like Disaster, to heal and maintain the changes caused by time, nothing will stick. Also your parasites are completely unable to survive the impact of countless years under time energy. The parasite will turn to dust before I can shove and pull out the body from the time stream.” He explained.
A growl of anger came from ‘him’ as he began to walk.
The legs were not the same size and he noticed quickly and began to levitate until they reached a highly protected dome within the ruined facility.
Within was a person with a complete parasite. ‘He’ walked over and ripped the top off and pulled the person out by the head and with a roar, a ghastly creature came out the mouth of the warped creature, holy chains spread throughout the entire thing and it forced the mouth of the victim open and forced itself inside.
Time tempest looked away at the disgusting display and waited outside until the person walked out with the same cold disposition. Pure black and red eyes were the only indication that the new body was not normal.
“How good was this one?” Tempest asked.
“Not even close but it has the healing factors so it should last longer.” he said but flinched and looked at his hand as one finger formed a claw immediately and black veins appeared.
“Looks like it isn’t as good as you assumed.” Tempest said with a chuckle and an anger filled ‘him’ but he didn’t react to it.
Instead he turned towards the feeling of the divine connections, or at least where it had originated from. What was disorientating was that once he turned that direction he felt a strangeness like it wasn’t that direction and he blinked, “Hmm?” He muttered.
“Feel something wrong?” Tempest asked, it was a strange expression. It was rare for ‘him’ to not feel exactly what he wanted.
“The divine connections I’ve felt…” he said pointing but then shifting, it was then that he sensed all the connections were rotating randomly along a vast array of points and he had just focused on the first sensory output he had sensed. Now that he focused, his mind could make out that this was clearly an unnatural feeling.
What was most jarring was that moments after, all the feelings vanished. He lost all senses for the connections as if him sensing them with a focused mind had alerted the demigods or something else.
“Let’s go… this game of tag will only end when I’ve laid waste to the world. I’m getting sick of this place and how it is transpiring.”
They returned to the HQ and the dark fog returned to cover ‘him’.
As for the demigod who were the source of the connections, all of them were in class and glaring in the same direction, up towards the terminal entrance, that sense of danger had come from with focus. The feeling of their connection was hidden like it had become one with the world. All of their eyes were glowing faintly as they knew their enemy was reacting and getting ready.
It took someone shaking them to snap them out of it.
It was the first day back and they breathed.
They all returned to class but they were all more serious about growing because of the degree of danger they had just felt.
