Jonathan moved away from the statue as quickly as he could, not wanting to risk anything to do with the class. The only option left was the upgrade to his current class, and the one he planned on taking.
Student Elemental Juggernaut
Tier 3 Legendary Class
You continue to walk the path between paths, blending martial discipline with the arcane might of a mage. Only your immense talents and bonuses allow you to do this without becoming the rankest of fools, unable to use any of their skills effectively. Instead, you show your enemies what a true jack of all trades can do.
+5 to all stats, +5 additional points.
It was exactly what he expected, and exactly what he wanted. With a smile, he selected the class, and popped back into the real world, in the dingy little room. His body thrummed with power as a level’s worth of points entered him. Another notification waited for him.
For reaching Tier 3, you can now choose a new boon, based on your class. These boons can only be upgraded once per Tier.
Available Tier 3 Boons.
Advanced Juggernaut Body
Advanced Elemental Focus
There were two ways he could go here. The first was to double down on the physical aspect of his class, and presumably gain a greater overall bonus with the stacking of boons, or increase his magical power. The first option was tempting, but he had gotten this far through spreading his focus. With that in mind, he picked the second boon.
What felt like warm energy coursed through his body, radiating out from his elemental core. Suddenly, he felt a deeper level of connection to the Void, and the knowledge that he could draw upon its power more easily. Other than that, there were no other effects.
Smiling, he opened up his status sheet.

Power beyond his wildest dreams was quantified before his very eyes, the stats of a being who any Earthling would have treated like a god. Sadly in this world, he was anything but.
As he studied the changes, he noticed something about his class name. It seemed that upgrading a class within its rarity constraints ended up with an increase to the power, but not an actual physical change. The Novice and Student prefixes were nothing more than flavor text. It was hardly useful to know, but it would come in handy later on.
Jonathan rose from his seated position and headed out the door, only to find a trio of fighters standing before him. One was a swarthy man clutching a mace, and the other two were women. Judging by the ways that their eyes drifted to their companion, the relationship went beyond simply professionalism. One of them was a mage of some sort, but the other was an archer, a surprisingly rare type of weapon mastery in this world. It did make sense though, given the difficulties of archery in a world where arrows powerful enough to keep up with an ever growing level would be as expensive as weapons in their own right.
“Are you the one who caused the fuss with this establishment’s guard?” The man asked, puffed up and officious for the benefit of his companions.
“Of course he is, dearest. He might be low level, but I can feel an undercurrent of arcane potency running through him,” the mage said, her voice sultry. “You would do best to come with us. The city lord has some questions about an unaffiliated powerhouse, however low level, coming here.” Curiously enough, her voice changed when she spoke to Jonathan, becoming sharp and acerbic.
“Why should I come with you?” Jonathan asked, crossing his arms. “How do I know this isn’t a trap, or some elaborate scam?”
“Don't delude yourself,” the mage said. “If we wanted to harm you, there wouldn’t be much you could do. Reggie downstairs might have been decently leveled, but his talent was lacking. With us, that is not the case.”
“I don’t think I particularly like the way you’re speaking. This does not seem like a simple courtesy call with the city lord. It feels like someone is out to get revenge for me upsetting the status quo. So thanks, but I think I will be taking my leave now.”
As Jonathan stepped forwards, the man took a menacing stride, removing his weapon from its strap. Energy began to play along its edge, sparking in the air.
“You will do no such thing. In fact, this sort of aggression can only merit one response. Alice, light him up!”
The female mage smiled and raised one hand, lightning sparking between her fingers. A moment later the air crackled as a yard thick bolt of lightning snapped towards Jonathan. He crossed his arms and summoned the Void to his skin. A mantle of purple fire erased the lightning from existence, and he raised one eyebrow.
“The hell was that? A free massage?” He asked as he started to let his aura loose. He knew that actually killing someone here would bring the wrath of the whole city down on his head, a prospect that would likely end in his death. He was no longer the top dog in this realm.
