He slid it on next to his new ring, and felt a sudden surge of strength enter him. With his boosts from his thresholds, 50 Strength was quite the impressive amount. He was starting to look forward to the other rings. However, the last two seemed to be orientated more for a mage, and he tossed them to Edgar. While the Ring of the Twilight Magus and the Ring of Dusky Mana seemed interesting, they were definitely more suited to Edgar. The first one increased magical prowess in the dark, and the second infused attacks with a small amount of darkness, improving the damage dealt. Jonathan quickly pulled out the three pendants that were also in the chest, analyzing them in unison.
Talisman of the Twilight Protector
Tier 2 Magical Item
Once per day, you can summon a twilight elemental to aid you in battle. The elemental scales to your level, but not your strength.
Bonuses: None
It was an interesting effect, but not one that Jonathan was interested in. He assumed that one could only equip a single pendant or necklace at a time. He threw the talisman over to Edgar, and opened the description for the next one.
Pendant of the Encroaching Dusk
Tier 2 Magical Item
This item increases the power of successive strikes by a small amount, mimicking the inexorable advancement of the dark. This boost maxes out at 25 percent, decreasing by half for every Tier above the Tier of the pendant.
Bonuses: None
He quickly equipped it, smiling as he did so.
The last pendant simply provided a meager bonus to Dexterity while wielding a ranged weapon. Something to do with how darkness could travel at the speed of light. A lot of item descriptions were surprisingly deep. The rest of the treasure was simply a pile of raw ore that Jonathan piled into his storage device. With that over, they were ready to enter the next floor.
The next few floors were similar to the castle level, with a few sapient enemies commanding a group of monsters. Their level of intelligence slowly rose the further they went, as well as their level. More and more fortifications began to take the pride of place within these floors, showcasing the intelligence of the inhabitants. Castles and citadels, cathedrals and arenas were extremely varied in their construction. However, they were all equally deadly.
The sixteenth floor had been a strange parody of the world of Telvaria, with a cabal of false gods ruling over the floor. However, these gods were truly fake, with nothing more than a few paltry tricks to their name. The real challenge was defeating their bodyguards.
The seventeenth floor was the site of an all out war between two rival factions, each with their own castle. Jonathan and Edgar had split up to meet the final requirement of the floor, managing to kill the two commanders when they were distracted.
The eighteenth floor had been an arena battle, with hordes of ever stronger monsters pouring out to challenge them. The nineteenth floor had somehow been on the back of a massive turtle, where an entire civilization had come into existence. The floor had ended when the two men steered the turtle off the side of the world and into an endless abyss. The monster had only come up with question marks to Jonathan’s scanning abilities, meaning that it was beyond Tier 2 in strength. Still, it had not been too difficult to pass those floors, and both men had gained multiple levels for their efforts. Jonathan had gained three, mainly from the stronger enemies of the floors. Some of his pathway skills had even increased, with both Mana Manipulation and Martial Arts gaining a rank.
However, the twentieth floor was an entirely different beast altogether. On this floor, there were only ten enemies, but they were all boss rank monsters. There was no chest this time, but there was a large crystal in the center of the room that glowed with power, likely the final reward. However, each of the bosses was level 190, and although they were spread out across the room, Jonathan did not doubt for a single second that fighting one would draw the attention of the others.
Each of the bosses was different, ranging from a serpent made out of crystals to a massive shadow that stood on its own, clutching a sword of darkness. Their combined auras covered the entire area, creating an atmosphere of dread. It was time for Jonathan to allocate some of his free stat points. He quickly opened his stat sheet to check.

He had enough stat points to bring Resilience up to the next threshold, if he used all of them. That would provide an immediate boost to his power. He looked at the nearest boss, taking in its massive form, coupled with the overbearing aura of power that surrounded it. With a grimace, he made his decision.
