Short summary of the last chapter:
Spoiler :
After conniving a bit with Evan, Voice started that battle. He began by attacking Johnny, but was interrupted by the archer he had not watched. The archer was taken out with one of his few remaining ‘constriction bombs’, then he turned his attention to Johnny.
Also, let me know if anything is wrong with the chapter! Be sure to comment and rate!
Johnny was clutching his head while wailing. My mind control skill didn’t have that ability, so I could only assume Davros’ intervention.
I heard clashing noises behind me. I turned around for a moment. EDI was attacking the gladiator.
I decided to finish Johnny off as quickly as possible, so that I could watch their fight. They both had some very interesting moves.
I dashed toward him, and used my metal mana-coated swords to attack. Johnny seemed to glitch for a moment. The next moment he was standing straight up, and was able to barely avoid my blades.
I could tell that Ancestor had taken control again. I wanted to call Johnny out on that, but that would probably call some very unwanted attention to myself from the gods.
I stabbed at Johnny, but Ancestor blocked my strike. “HA! Johnny! Is this all you have? You can’t even attack properly!”
I sneered at him. I wasn’t letting my mind control skill quit either. Then entire time I was using the skill to make Johnny/Ancestor say ‘I forfeit’.
Johnny/Ancestor began to hum a song. It was another old song. Something about a devil coming to Georgia I think. I increased my attacks. Every attack I used, Johnny/Ancestor seemed to be able to counter.
An intricate circle appeared beside Johnny/Ancestor while we traded blows. The circle had complex diagrams on the inside. From it suddenly burst an imp looking thing.
The imp was about a foot tall, and hovered a few feet off of the ground. It’s red body was complemented by a set of wings and a barbed tail.
“KILL HIM!” Johnny/Ancestor ordered to the imp.
The imp began throwing fireballs at me. At the same time it was obviously trying to create lava beneath my feet.
I stopped moving for a moment. I needed a breather anyway.
“Do you really think this can stop me?”
I let the fireball hit me. Most of the power behind it disintegrated due to my particular traits of mana absorption and mana magnet. Mana magnet made mana bend to my will more easily, and mana absorption made me absorb hostile mana automatically.
If I consciously focused on the hostile mana, well then basically none of it would get to me. So that’s what I did.
Of course I didn’t just ignore Johnny/Ancestor. Ancestor knew I had this kind of power, so this could only work a diversion. I wanted to see what Johnny/Ancestor was going to do.
I noticed something peculiar happen. Johnny/Ancestor’s level dropped by 1. Johnny/Ancestor began to scream, and became just Johnny. Much like the time I went to kill the archer.
AH! So that’s what Davros did!
I had figured it out. Basically Ancestor could possess Johnny’s body for a limited time, but at the cost of an entire level. Then Johnny would be forced to deal with backlash after. Or at least that is what it seemed like.
If that was true, then it would fit. Davros wanted to just barely meet my requirements, there was no way they could tie that back to me etc.
I attacked Johnny again. Just before my attack met, Ancestor took control again. After dodging my attack, Johnny/Ancestor retaliated by sending a large amount of earth spikes my way.
I easily dismantled them before they got within ten feet of me. I was just feeding off of his mana at that point.
“Come on! Is that the best you got Johnny!? HA! I’ve had worse fights with my hair every morning!”
I continued to taunt Johnny/Ancestor. It was actually very fun.
Our battle looked epic, but in reality it wasn’t very great. We kept throwing magic at each other, while at the same time absorbing the other’s mana.
Of course I had several advantages in this battle. It didn’t seem like Johnny was a tier three mana user. Tier two at most. Not only that, the ambient mana didn’t listen as well to Johnny as it did to me.
So probably he didn’t have Mana Magnet.
Whenever Johnny was in control of the body, he would be in agonizing pain. When it was Ancestor I would at least get a good fight.
I wanted to finish this in order to watch EDI and the gladiator. I couldn’t though. Even if I had the numeric advantages, Ancestor had who knows how long worth of battle experience. A good enough soldier can destroy a huge army if armed well enough.
Although I obviously had more mana, and it bent more easily to my will, Ancestor used the least amount of mana possible to achieve the spells.
I mean the fucker used less than a tenth of what I used! Why didn’t Ancestor show my this stuff!? Just because Ancestor might not agree with my goals I get kept out of the cool kids table? Not fair.
After throwing metal spikes, earth spikes, and trying several times to drown Johnny/Ancestor, I decided to make this a bit more of a close battle.
For some reason Johnny had considerably more health than I did. About five times as much. So the amount of bonus he’d get from buffs to health was quite a bit more substantial than mine.
I decided to run around until my mana had completely regenerated. Ancestor stayed in control much longer while I didn’t attack. I was peppered by magical attacks, but used them to add more mana to my total.
After restoring most of my mana, I decided to throw down a few buffs to increase my defense and health, one to increase my five senses, even a couple to increase speed and flexibility.
The buffs might have diminishing returns, but the returns were still useful.
With my enhanced body, I attacked.
Ancestor must have had the same idea, or at least knew what I was going to do. Either way, our battle turned from one of magical prowess which neither could win, to a duel.
Our battle definitely didn’t go the way I thought it would. Let’s go over his stats a bit.
I can filter out information from my inspect. If I couldn’t then I’d be overwhelmed by the sheer unimaginable amount of information I was getting each second.
When I concentrated on Johnny’s stats this is what I saw:
[td2]Health: 500/500[/tds]
Stats WindowNameJohnnyClassSwordsmanRaceHumanLevel 100Mana: 2500/2500Stamina: 1350/1350Current Title: N/AHealth Regen: 5/sMana Regen: 50/sStamina Regen: 5/sStrength135Agility130Wisdom500Intelligence250Endurance135Dexterity100Vitality50
Now I’m not saying he is better than me, but those stats had been fucking trained! A they scrawny little boy-man didn’t seem like much, but could at least hold his own.
The biggest difference in physical combat ability had to be the fact that I had actually handled martial weapons before. With Ancestor in control though …
Now I could also see what buffs were laid on him if I was so inclined, so I did. He had some basic buffs, but they seemed to not be permanent. They were slowly sucking away his mana. I mean very slowly though.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
I slashed at him with my twin blades in an X formation. My swords almost seemed to be guided by him. The perfectly were repelled and countered.
The only reason Ancestor’s attacks didn’t land was that I used my wind mana to slow his attacks down enough to actually block them.
I jumped backwards and stared angrily at Ancestor/Johnny.
“You traitor! You think we don’t know!? You think THEY don’t know!? You shall rue the day!”
Our battle continued like this. This time I was slightly outmatched. I might be able to pull ahead using mana to attack, but if it reached 0 I’d be dead; literally.
If I conversely continued this form of martial combat, I’d be eventually overtaken. Even if I used a combination of both, I’d eventually run out of mana.
There was one thing that instantly came to mind, but I put it away for the moment. I had practiced a VERY interesting spell. It a very exciting possibility. I actually modeled it after one of my own skills.
I had to use it in conjunction with another spell though.
So our battle of metal continued. Ancestor had vastly superior skills, and higher stats.
It was no surprise then, when Ancestor made several decisive attacks. Many landed on my feeble (really well crafter) iron armor (enhanced with the defensive abilities of my regenerating earth fairy).
So the attacks didn’t really do any lasting damage. Any hits that actually made it past my inspect ability, were quickly healed up by Eli.
I didn’t get many hits by Ancestor, the damn fob seemed to know exactly where I was going to hit. It made me feel like I was a commoner versing a well-trained soldier.
Even though I only got in hits, very rarely I did some lasting damage. Each slash, combined with the enhanced might of Golem, managed to at least draw blood.
Soon Johnny/Ancestor’s health dropped from 500 to 400
As soon as the cretin dropped to 400 health, he began to spasm again. He lost a level instantly. Johnny had obviously taken over. With a quick swipe of my swords, I slashed his hp down further. Every hit was aimed at one of the red points on his body.
I applied just enough force to drain his hp without killing him. When he was at exactly 23 hp, Ancestor awoke. Unfortunately he was already wrapped in metal pipes created from my mana. A dense water covered his head, and a basic thorn vine bound his legs and arms together.
I smiled derisively, “Sorry, bud looks like today just wasn’t your lucky day.” With a blow from the flat of my blade, I knocked Ancestor unconscious. It helped that I had a whole heap of the energy debuffs activated on him.
I turned around, EDI and HonorBound were still in the middle of their fight. I decided to rest for a moment before joining them.
The medics were already taking Johnny/Ancestor’s body out of the arena.
EDI was dominating HonorBound. He would get in one attack to her four. He’d be able to land one attack for every four times he actually attacked. She’d land a hit almost every time.
Although he had the higher possible damage, she hit about 16 times more than him. The fight was nothing less than enthralling.
I decided to simply watch them duke it out. I sat on the ground with my swords planted in the ground in front of me. I used my right knee as an armrest.
After a few rounds of back-and-forth, HonorBound decided it was time to use some of his techniques.
He began to grow in muscle size. I remembered this move. Constrained rage. It increased his fighting abilities for a short time.
EDI used Light Shroud. The gladiator might not have known where she was, but he was attacking in all directions. EDI had the sense to stay away until he ran out of steam.
As soon as he lost power, he used it once again!
EDI’s power deactivated soon after his, so she had to use it again as well.
It meant they were both wasting mana or stamina or whatever they used. That sucked for them, but by the time they were both out of the capability to use those moves anymore, I had learned both of them completely!
Light Shroud
By consuming mana the user is able to sift through light as if they were not there. Effectively they become invisible. The user can still view light normally.
This ability costs 100 mana.
Constrained Rage
By consuming stamina at a high rate the user is able to increase their own strength and endurance proportionally.
This ability’s costs vary, minimum of 50 stamina.
After watching several more techniques they had, most of which were very basic moves. I decided to end it. I threw my remaining vine bombs as the duo.
Right away they were both caught. I then proceeded to incinerate both vines as much as my fire mana would allow. The vines grew so thick, and quickly, that neither had time to think of what was happening.
Neither was easy to win against though. They both began to slash and hack their ways out. So what did I do? I debuffed both them. I gave out the drowsiness debuff to both of them.
With their decreased state of awareness, everything became harder to do. Coupled with the fact that I used minor petrification on both of them… well suffice to say they had difficulty moving even a finger.
At one point HonorBound used his constrained rage, and began to break through the vines. All I had to do was add more fire mana to the vines, and increase the output of the debuffs I had on him.
He looked dizzy, then fell back into the vines.
After a few more minutes I released both of them, after making sure their health bars were just barely above 0.
I released both of them, and the medics took them away.
Not a very epic way to win, eh?
But to be fair, those were the last of my two vine bombs.
The next day played out much like you’d expect. The crowd hated that I won with such a ‘cheat’, and the other competitors all had looks of anger.
Even EDI seemed genuinely pissed at me. Sorry EDI. If I could just make more stuff like that sword I’d have let you win. Blame your mom.
I sent her that as a whisper. How was I to know whether or not she would talk to her mom about it? Hehehe.
Ancestor/Johnny chose not to attend, despite being fourth place.
After getting my award from the ‘king’, I disappeared. I wasn’t going to stick around to mess with this angry crowd.
K guys! That ended a bit abruptly. Sorry about that. I have been struggling on how to write this chapter for a couple of weeks now. I don’t know what happened. I have the worse case of writer’s block in history. I do love the nice comments though!
I am going to try to write out a few more chapters, then go on a SMALL hiatus. It will be a month at most. Hopefully by then I’ll be able to have my stuff together. After the pause will be the time-skip. It will only be a few months of time-skip, but will have a lot of stuff you will all learn through conversations and how the world will be different.
If I somehow manage to get over the writer’s block I’ll just forget about the hiatus at all. I really hate putting this story to the side, even for a brief moment. But as it is, it takes me several days of sitting and thinking up what to write to actually be able to put words on paper- er on electronic screen.
I am NEVER GIVING THIS STORY UP! At least until it comes to its conclusion. Which I actually have planned, and have written a synopsis of.
Anyway! Thanks for reading this chapter guys!

And before anyone asks, yes i realize he got no bonus from John Smith. I did that on purpose.
