Dive 52: The Elder Gods' Secret

Short summary of the last chapter:

Spoiler :

Voice found out EDI had a personality change. Ancestor returned, with news about another Ancient Elf trying to take Voice’s spot. Voice was told that the 100 assorted people were going to have to do some sort of contest in groups of ten.

Also, let me know if anything is wrong with the chapter! Be sure to comment!

And if you like a character in the chapter let me know! I can add them to later chapters if they are popular enough. Although I might add them later anyway!

Kretchof’s POV

Master chose me to be the last dungeon boss. Using the power he gave me, I adjusted some of my undead, and made them the sub bosses. A few members of the demon’s army has entered the Connector Dungeon. I’ve sent some of my undead to take care of them.

The growing amount of high quality armor has increased the fame of Master’s dungeon. I am so impressed that he made such a marvelous thing. The only entrance is around River’s Cross, and in two different dungeons. Master would want more.

I had my moles and dwarves build tunnels to other connecting cities, and forests. I knew Master would want to have as many inflowing monsters as possible. I needed to find a way to bait the monsters in. Maybe I could force some random monsters to come into my Master’s dungeon. That way it would grow faster than normal.

More monsters would lead to more adventurers. More adventurers would lead to more gear. More gear would lead to more adventurers. The cycle would repeat forever after that.

I knew how Master loved animals and all beings except for Other-Worlders and monsters. I used this knowledge, and my control over the dungeon, to put up a barrier. The barrier stopped everything that tried to enter it, everything except Other-Worlders and monsters. This had the added benefit of raising the dungeon’s fame, and raising the loot drop rate of dead adventurers.

This meant Master’s dungeon would level up much slower, but that was something I’d have to deal with. Master didn’t need to fuss over such minor details. With work on the extension of the dungeon started, I returned to harrying the demon’s army.

Voice’s POV

Everyone came back before ten a.m. That was probably discussed beforehand by the administration. I realized two very important things about my mana manipulation abilities.

By concentrating my buffs on only one part of my body I could create new types of buffs! I hid my overjoyed status when I learned this. My passive mask was my holy object.

If I concentrated the light buff on my arms, I could create after images. For some reason it increased my ability to dodge. Although if you just aimed at the first one you could hit me.

Not only could I put the buffs on parts of my body, I could put it inside my body. By using the offensive boosting buff on my muscles, I gained strength.

By researching throughout the night I came to a conclusion.

Each of the Elder Gods either controlled, or exemplified one of the major stats.

By fusing metal mana buffs to my muscles I gained strength. The metal mana god was linked to strength.

By fusing earth mana buffs to my muscles I gained defense. The earth mana goddess controlled endurance.

By fusing light mana buffs to my muscles I gained accuracy. The light mana goddess was linked to dexterity.

By fusing water mana buffs to my muscles I gained fluid movements. The water mana goddess was linked to agility.

I don’t know why, but by fusing darkness mana buffs to my brain I gained enhanced thinking speed. The dark mana god was linked to intelligence. I don’t know how it worked, but I would worry about that later.

By fusing nature buffs to my eyes, I was able to detect poisonous substances in nature. Since dark was int, nature had to be wisdom. Even though they are not opposites.

By fusing my muscles with fire buffs, my total stamina increased by about 50%. Since vitality did the same thing, the fire goddess was linked to vitality.

Now wind was hard to figure out. I technically didn’t gain any stat point bonus from any of my experiments. Although, when I fused the wind buffs to my muscles, I had an increase of speed for a very short time. So the wind god was linked to speed instead of luck, which is what I thought it would be.

After all, it was one of the seven stats given to the users. I naturally assumed something would increase it. But sadly that wasn’t the case.

When I had come to the conclusions about each of the gods, I received a notice again. Further cementing the idea that we were still within the game world.

Congratulations! You have discovered the link between the Elder Gods, and stat points. You have gained formerly unknown knowledge. You have gained 20 intelligence. You can use this knowledge as a bargaining chip with the Elder Gods. For various reasons they do not wish for this knowledge to be made public. For your silence on this subject the gods will present you with two gifts.

I appeared in a blank white room. Much like my white room before I added anything to it. The main difference was the eight Elder Gods were here. They were, as usual, all standing in a line.

I cocked my head to one side. “Isn’t one of you missing? Heh.” I smiled. I knew who was missing. And technically he couldn’t do anything without my permission. The other gods were staring at me, as if telling me to allow him to come.

“*Sigh* Fiiine. Davros, I herby give you permission to come here for the period of times I am in this real, and speak to me. You may only speak to me while I am in this realm.” I said times instead of time. That way Davros and I could communicate if I came to this place again. I needed a way to be able to make deals with him after all.

The god that looked as if space were encompassed into his being spoke. “Now that we are all here, we need to speak to you.”

I nodded. I already knew he could read my thoughts. He seemed to have some sort of memory reading ability as well. He would know that I was now an Ancient Elf.

As I thought that a flicker passed over what should have been his face. I smirked as he tried to continue as if nothing happened.

“ANYWAY.” He almost yelled. I intentionally let a chuckle escape. “We have received word from our creator that you have learned of a deep secret of ours. There is a reason why we chose to keep that particular set of secrets away from everyone.”

Mar stepped forward, and intervened. “We really need you to lock the information away. We have a means of buying silence for just such an occasion as this.”

I looked at her as though she was a motherly feeling. “Please go on. Although I’d never reveal your secret my dearest loving Mar. You have only shown me mercy.” Typical bullshit spiel to gain further approval.

She smiled a loving, gracious, smile at me. Obviously she at least couldn’t read my mind. “You may ask of each of us any boon. We will each grant you a request to complete, based on how much we feel the boon is worth to you.” She smiled as she walked back into the line.

I was surprised to see that Davros was the one to walk forward. A wicked smile across his face. “Before we give you our quests though, you will be granted a special token of our ‘appreciation’, for keeping your vow of silence. Also I’ll need your permission to do this ritual.”

The nine stepped forward. I direct a question to the god that looks like the void. “Does that mean you are the god of luck?” I raise my eyebrows as I ask.

He seemed to flinch slightly. I smiled. “Don’t worry. I’ll keep your secret too. Fine, Davros. You have my permission to do whatever this ritual is, as long as all of the other Elder Gods give you permission to do the ritual before you start.”

I had to be specific so he didn’t worm his way out of the situation. Man it’s going to be good to get whatever these boons are. The nine Elder Gods began doing some sort of ritual.

I heard Ancestor whisper into my ear. “Ask them for their blood.” The god of luck and whatever mana type associated with it, looked up at me. I could have sworn he scowled.

He didn’t say anything though. Apparently he knew something about the Ancient Elves that I didn’t. Something about why I needed the blood from all of the Elder Gods.

I felt a tug. Then suddenly a burning sensation. From the ground sprouted several thorny vines. Before I had time to think, the vines covered me in an orb they formed.

The orb contracted around me, and they sank into my skin. The pain was brief, but intense. The light around me had returned to the white landscape. My skin now sported a new, slightly intimidating, tattoo.

I had vines covering my entire body. The vines ran all along my entire body. I say entire body, because now I was naked. There seemed to be eight empty spaces.

There was an opening around my heart, but it had a dull white star being constrained by the vines. The gods were back in a line.

The faceless god spoke. “That is my mark. It will allow you to use a bit of my power. This is the gift we give you as a group.”

You have obtained the mark of ???. With this your mana will be separated into eight even increments. In addition to these eight you will have a 9th ‘pure mana’ increment. The element with the lowest purity will determine the ‘pure mana’ capacity you have. When you increase every elemental mana type to at least 1% purity, you will get 1% of your total mana as Pure Mana. Pure Mana is concentrated mana essence. Pure mana is 9x as effective as regular mana. Pure mana will only be used if you try to use an element which has 0 mana left.If Pure Mana reaches 100% of your total mana, you will unlock a new trait.

“That is my blessing to you. You already know how to purify your mana, so it should be very, useful to you. Now ask your boon from each of us.” He squinted at me.

Everyone but Mar disappeared. “What would you have of me, to keep my secret?” She looked longingly at me.

“I was told that a drop of the most holy of goddesses could make a potion to cure anything. That is what I wish for, a single drop of your blood.”

She looked at me suspiciously for a moment, but then shook her head. “Alright, but for this you must free Davros, but only slightly.”

“I have to what?”

She smiled understandingly. “You see, darkness continues without the god. The darkness in the hearts of my following has grown since Davros has been trapped. If you free him, the darkness in their hearts will leave. He cannot sense the darkness in the hearts of the leaders of my following. There is almost no chance of him finding out about it.

If you don’t free him, the darkness in their hearts will grow, and consume them. They might even try to free him themselves. All you need to do is let him manipulate our world a little bit, then the darkness will be pulled away from them. He only needs to do one thing. Like make another alter or something. It doesn’t even need to work, he just has to push his magic through your realm.”

She shook her head sadly. I nodded. “Alright, but I need time to think of how to phrase it.” She nodded. She pricked her finger with a needle that appeared from nowhere.

The drop of blood fell into a vial she materialized. She handed me the vial.

Blood of Mar *IchorThis is a drop of Mar’s blood. Mar gave this to her champion as a gift.

This drop of blood can be used in potions, enchanting, or as a bargaining tool with Mar or Davros.

This item is soul-bound until used.

She hugged me. “I must go. I will see you very soon.” She smiled as she pushed me away.

The other gods returned, and Mar disappeared. I wonder how much Davros would buy this info for? I probably shouldn’t betray her trust though.

The next to step up was Davros. I started the transaction. “Alright, I have some juicy info; you’re really going to have to give me something good though.”

He was understandably taken aback by my proposal. “What kind of information do you have?”

I adopted a more business like persona. “The kind that might let you destroy the church of Mar altogether.”

He was obviously very interested. Before he spoke I wagged a finger. “But first our deal. I want a drop of your blood. Tell me your task.”

He looked confused for a moment, but then consented. “Alright. You have to send a message to DefiledHealer. Tell him, ‘The moment of turning is now.’ Can you do that?”

I nodded.

As was with Mar, he pricked his finger, and gave me a drop of blood.

Blood of Davros *IchorThis is a drop of Davros’ blood. This blood is cursed. By drinking this blood, you will become closer to Davros.

This drop of blood can be used in potions, enchanting, or as a bargaining tool with Davros.

This item is soul-bound until used.

I sent the message before Davros even left. Although I was hoping that since DH wasn’t in game, he wouldn’t get the message.

“The information? What is it?”

Davros was impatient. “First you must give me something. With this info, if I ever let you out, you could destroy Mar’s entire worship.”

Davros’ eyes swam greedily. “NAME IT! What do you want boy!” He seemed almost desperate for the information.

“Well, as you can see, I have 270 intelligence. I have 100 darkness affinity. I even created an undead dungeon.”

Davros was getting more interested the more I went on.

“I don’t know what DH has done for you, but it’s probably not as much as I’m capable of. What I want is your protection. Not for me, but for my dungeon. I want you to put up an altar in your name in one of the five stationed rooms.

I want this to be the only working alter in the world. I give you permission for that. You can grant rewards through that alter, only if I ok the request and the reward. Only players and monsters will be allowed to be sacrificed though. And only players whose real life age is over 18.

I also want it to be painless sacrificing. And no gruesome stuff, at least not if they are still alive to see it.”

Davros licked his lips in contemplation. “I will agree to that, but it seems you are only giving here. I understand the only working alter would be a draw to evil people, but good people will try to destroy it. You must know that.”

I smiled. “Earlier I got a notice about several changes Kretchof, my lich, did to the dungeon. One was to put up a ward against all NPCs and animals. So only players and monsters can get in. If the alter gets broken, well it is up to you to fix it.”

“Ok, but what do you yourself get out of this?”

“I want my dungeon to get a percentage of the reward. That way it can improve itself faster. Whenever you give out a reward, you have to give my dungeon a bit of power as well. Power in the form of minions or items. That way we both benefit.

You get to communicate to your following, when I allow it, and I get extra items to increase the amount of people trying to clear my dungeon. Of course you are not allowed to tell anyone it’s my dungeon. I want to look like I have no idea about it.

That is, until I try and ‘fail’ to complete it.”

“Really? HA! I like you kid! Alright,” Davros seemed to be in a very pleasant mood. “Deal! I just made the alter room for you. It is filled with low to mid level undead demons. And an undead demon shaman. Since I’m in a good mood, and it would help protect the alter, how about I make a portal to my realm?”

“No to the portal.” I knew he was just trying to find a way to get power out of it.

He cursed when I refused. His face turned flat. “Fine. Can’t blame me for trying though. Still, it will be good to be able to talk to my minions again.” He went back into a good mood. Not being allowed to do anything in Solun must have really been boring.

“So the deal is that you make the alter, upkeep it, repair it if it gets broken, and pass all requests and rewards to me for approval. Deal?”

“Deal.”

I took out my blood contract, and wrote the details on it. That in exchange for upkeep, repair and maintenance of the altar, Davros gets to give out quests and rewards when I allow it. We both signed it.

“Now, tell me kid. What is the information that can destroy Mar’s entire following?”

“She told me that there is growing darkness in her priests. That if given the knowledge about them you could destroy her entire religion.”

His smile only lasted a moment, before it faltered. Replaced instantly by anger. He flew at me, and grabbed my collar. “WHAT! WHY DIDN’T YOU SAY THAT FIRST!?”

My eyes went wide, and my frown parted slightly. My nose scrunched up just a bit, and my head sunk into my chest a bit. The perfect imitation of both fear and confusion at once.

“I didn’t want you to cheat your way out of the deal. I’m sorry! If it wasn’t worth the altar take it back!”

I allowed my body to tremor ever so slightly.

He seemed to notice what was going on. He put me down with a blank expression on his face. “What is it?” I asked ‘confused’. “I thought you’d be thrilled to learn of the darkness. Why aren’t you happy?”

He mumbled the reply. “Since I used magic the darkness was pulled out of them.” He sighed. “It’s fine.” He looked at the nonexistent ground. “I will just have to try again. Did she tell you how it happened?”

I decided to give him a bit at least. After all, I needed a willing slave not a reluctant one. “She said it was because you had been gone for so long.”

He shook his head. I gave him a bit of good news. “You can tell your people that there is a working altar to you in the undead dungeon.” He seemed slightly relieved.

“Fine, go get your bribe from the other gods. I should warn you though, we are going to talk about what the requests and rewards are. You shouldn’t be so easy going about this. Of course I have no problem telling them you didn’t get any of my blood.” He smirked as he disappeared.

Next up was Gaia. She came up to me, and the others disappeared. Couldn’t they just appear one at a time?

“So young traveler. Not only do you protect my children, you have the wisdom to perceive the truth behind the deities. You know, only two other people have been able to do this. Only one was an other-worlder.”

What!? Some other player figured this out before me!? WHO THE FUCK!?

“Well, I’m just happy to see the truth.”

Gaia nodded. “Be that as it may, you may ask of my one boon. I will answer any questions you have, then you may take the requested item, and fulfill my quest.”

I pretended to think for a moment. “What kind of things can I ask for?”

“You may ask for anything that I can give; however, the more powerful the thing you ask for, the harder the request will be.”

I ‘thought’ for several minutes. I seriously didn’t know why it was such a big deal to keep this a secret. It wasn’t like it would effect their standing in the world.

Unless it would. “So why do you all wish for me to stay quiet about this?”

Her vine and leaf covered breasts jiggled slightly as she turned.

“You see, long ago the gods made a bet. The first one to have their link to a stat spoken aloud, would lose. The loser would have to serve all of the others, until someone lost another bet. As of now no one has lost the bet. And no one wants you to have that much power over them.

This way, if you did state one of our links, the bet would be null and we would make a new bet.”

I thought about the silliness of it .They were really doing this whole thing over a bet? I mean it worked out for me, but I was the third person to figure out all of the connections. It seemed like no one would figure out just one.

“Alright. I’ve gotten a drop of blood from Mar, I can turn that into the most powerful healing potion in the world. What kind of potion could your blood turn into?”

Gaia thought for a bit, “Well you could use my blood to communicate to animals, or even learn to live off the earth like plants do.”

I nodded. That made sense. “Alright, so what do I need to do in order to get a drop of your blood?”

She did the same small ritual the other two did, and handed me a vial with a single drop of her blood. “There is some abomination stalking the land. You must find it, and make sure it is killed.”

“What kind of abomination?”

“She used to be a beautiful bunny, now she has turned into a monster. She became attracted to blood, then inherited the powers of a twisted slime. I want her dead. Some fool perverted my lovely child.” She began crying hysterically. Almost as if a mother had found out her child was a serial killer.

“Alright, alright. I don’t know how long it will take, but I’ll make sure she dies.”

You have accepted a quest.

Success: Getting the blood slime rabbit killed.

Difficulty: Low

Failure: N/A.

Reward: Already paid.

Success results in Gaia becoming more friendly towards you.

“Thank you Voice. Thank you!”

As she disappeared I thought, There is no way in hell I’m killing Heather. Fuck dat bitch. There’s no time limit, so I’ll just keep trying to ‘find’ her. LOL

The other gods were just more of the same thing. The fire goddess asked me to befriend a dragon. The metal god asked me to destroy one of his temples. The wind god asked me to summon a wind fairy. The earth god asked me to pray at his temple.

I made sure to bullshit them all. As long as they thought their blood was basically worthless to me, I could get super easy tasks. The metal god was the only real problematic one. Destroying a temple is risky business.

Still, they had all given me the blood when they gave me the task.

The water goddess asked me to come visit her. But I did not ask for her blood. I asked her to further her blessing. Water breathing and streamlining my body were both amazing. With whatever the third level of the blessing was, I would be able to more adequately fight.

The author's content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

She agreed fairly easily. Especially after I mentioned that her blessing was the best blessing out of all of the ones I received.

Undine has granted you 15 water affinity, and upgraded her blessing.

Many Blessings of Undine (Complete)

For greatly pleasing Undine you have been gifted with her blessing.

When submerged in water you gain gills, and can filter water from the water. You may also request for her aid by giving a suitable offering.

Undine believes all creatures should move with power and grace. Undine has streamlined your body. You now move 50% quicker in all environments you could normally move in. You also use 25% less stamina from water or air resistance.

Under the promise to keep her secret, Undine has granted you her completed blessing. Your body has been given venomous spines. You can activate these spines with a thought. The venom produced by these spines will effect anyone you touch with them. The venom is a low level damaging venom. You can learn to make more types of venoms, and switch between ones you can create.

She was proud when I told her how amazing her gift was. She told me that I had to visit her soon. It didn’t sound too bad, but I did wonder how long I’d have to stay.

As she disappeared, I was again greeted by the god with no name or face. I was in a starry abyss.

“So” The featureless man spoke. His tone, as always, was empty of any inflection. “Again you come here. Again you manipulate both Mar, and Davros for your own benefit.”

“Well, I uh” I try to stammer out a response.

“No,” the monotone replied. “It’s alright. I appreciate those that want power. You obviously want that. However, there is a concern about the blood.”

A world appears. The world looks like it went through Armageddon. Fires burn the forests. Oceans drown out the plains. Mountains, cracked in half, spew forth lava.

“This is what the world would look like if the Ancient Elves had their way. Is this the power you seek? Getting the power of the gods was always impossible. The most they could ever hope for was a little bit of extra control of mana.

Although… they didn’t put my blood into the equation. Well, what is it you want.”

Obviously asking for his blood was a trap, but it might actually be the only way to become a higher being. Wait, why do I need to become a higher being?

Ancestor spoke. “He knows it would have worked! He gave us the idea!” I flinched at the sudden outburst from Ancestor.

What the fuck was that?

The void god spoke, as if he heard what ancestor said. Which maybe he did. “What your Ancestor means, is that I was the one that planted the idea in the old elves minds.” If he could smirk, I’m sure he would have.

“So hold on. You mean to tell me that YOU are the one that fucked over my entire race?”

“No, I simply gave them the formula to advance their race. They wanted innate control over mana. To further supplement their own massive amount of control over mana. I simply pushed them in the right direction.

The way went about it was all wrong. You’ve done something interesting though. I can’t really pin you down. I keep trying to analyze you, and for the most part I have.

You are a narcissistic, manipulative, ass, that has a high intelligence. Even with all this, you continue to impress me. I mean, getting Davros and Mar to be pitted against each other, while at the same time making sure they don’t completely kill each other off, is quite impressive.

So what is it you want from me? I’ll let you know now. I don’t have any blood to give.”

I didn’t even need to think about it. I already knew what I wanted. “I’ll make you a wager. I don’t want to do any sort of quest for you. I probably wouldn’t be able to handle it anyway. You can make the terms, all I want to dictate is the prize I get if I win.

I want a book. Not just any book though. I want a book with a detailed analysis about every type of mana, including Pure Mana. I want every piece of information in regards to research on the mana types. Leaving nothing out.

I want the book to be categorized based on which race has researched each thing.”

I waited with an expectant look.

“Fine, but this is the bet. If you come out the winner of the little tests you are doing, then you get the book. If you finish in any place but first, you have to become my champion. It won’t be easy though. Sound good?”

We shook on it.

Bet with an Elder GodYou have made a bet with the god of Luck. If you win the tournament, you get a book. If you come in any place but first, you become the slave of the god of Luck.

It was only after reading this that I realized I had been tricked. ‘If you come in any place but first’ only worked if there wasn’t more than one trial! If there were multiple trials I’d have to be first in all of them.

I looked up to argue, but he was already gone. I was back in the room with the tables. People began popping into existence.

It was a little before ten a.m. I assumed that was when the whole ‘test’ would get started.

With all of my experiments proving, for the most part, successful, I was ready for the new day. The crowd was noisy as they spoke to the comrades they had made the day before.

Within a few minutes the announcer from yesterday appeared. “Hello all! There has been a slight change in plans.” He raised a hand to silence the murmuring that had started.

“It’s not big, but the teams are going to be split differently then you were first told. We just received this news. Sorry.” He actually looked regretful at having to give this news.

“But there is nothing we can do about it now.” A piece of paper appeared before each of the people. “This paper in front of you shows your team mates. The teams are arranged from one to ten people. Only one group has ten people, and only one person is by themselves.

The teams were made by pairing up by, *sigh*, by the weakest people here. The fewer people you have in your group, the stronger everyone in your group is.

Each group is roughly equivalent to all of the others, except one. The person by themselves is the single most powerful person in this room.” He looked confused for a second. Obviously his papers weren’t saying what he thought was good.

“If I were all of you, I’d go for him first. You will be given six hours to prepare for the tests. A random merchant was chosen from the starter town of the five winners of the first contest. You can buy any supplies from them. They will only be here until the first test, after that you are on your own.”

With that he disappeared again. I didn’t need to look at my paper. I already knew this system was going to fuck me over. Well, I guess the star god guy wouldn’t let me win so easily. Fuck!

I imagined several ways to cause pain to the god of luck, as I looked at the paper. The only name on it was my own. I knew this was going to happen. Maybe the merchant knows who I am. I could get something at least cheaper from them.

A box appeared in my view. It said ‘Merchant’ and ‘Room’. I instantly pressed merchant. I needed to be the first one there. That way the merchant wouldn’t have given discounts to so many others.

What I see surprises me. I blink, trying to see if this was real. I point at the merchant, questioningly. She giggled slightly. “Hi Voice.”

“Susan. How are you doing? And how are you here?”

She had been chosen as the merchant representative for the city, since her new discoveries have basically made the city impregnable.

“I have all of the other merchant’s goods here. I even have books and plants from the chapel. You can buy anything that any of them would have,” She looked around quickly. Seeing no one else she said, “for a large discount. Any of my goods are obviously free for you.” She smiled and winked at me.

I didn’t know why the system would allow this, but I needed all the help I could get.

All in all, I ordered a set of 20 bombs, enough bandages to make a mummy army, and the needed plants to make some overly powerful healing potions. Even if we were against each other, I could still talk the other groups into buying from me after Susan was gone.

I made sure to wipe the inventory of bandages and basic healing ingredients. I didn’t buy the potions though. I couldn’t afford that much, even with my massive discount. I bought 9 stacks of 99 bandages. I didn’t buy an bottles, because I wouldn’t need them for my plan.

I bought a whetstone, and all of the random ingredients that I needed to do my summoning rituals. I was going to make sure I had all of the fairies before I started this damn thing.

In exchange for all of that, Susan took all my money. 20 silver and 5 copper. I knew for a fact that the bandages alone were worth at least twice that.

I also suggested for her to charge a bit extra for all of the others, you know, to make up for the discount I got. She took the bait too easily. I almost felt bad for blatantly manipulating her like that. Almost.

With everything costing extra, people would have less they could buy. Which meant more chance for them to buy fewer potions.

After that I returned to my room to prepare. As I left some people were already starting to appear to buy things. Good luck on getting healing shit, losers.

When I returned to my room, I was surprised to note that I was back in my house. Not in the real world, but in the white room. That was cool, but I had a lot of work to do, and not enough time to do it. I only had about five and a half hours to do what needed to be done.

I created the appropriate space by using the mana in the environment. I was interested in why there was mana in my white room, but I concentrated on the task at hand.

For the next hour I made potions. I condensed the water around me into the pot, and made massive heaps of potions all at once.

I dried the potions, and used that to make even more powerful potions. Once I was done with each batch, it was absorbed by the bandages. I made enough ‘OP’s to convert an entire stack of bandages.

Those would be the first things I sold. That way I wouldn’t use them when the non-infused bandages ran dry. After the first hour had passed, I began on my summoning.

I started with the wind fairy. That way I could get the wind god’s request out of the way at the same time. With white chalk, I drew a large tornado. In the middle I placed a single feather from an eagle.

The chalk started coming towards the feather, almost as if by magnetic attraction. The chalk dust began to circle the feather, forming a solid white orb. The orb elongated, and began to look like an egg. Just as the egg shape was completed it began to crack.

The crack began to expand, slowly spreading and fracturing the egg. When a small triangle was made by three connecting cracks, it was pushed from the rest.

A small hatchling stumbled its way out, falling on the floor as it tried to walk. The egg dissipated into dust. The dust began circling the baby bird, drying it out. The bird flapped its tiny wings, and managed to get a small lift.

It flapped its tiny wings. It was actually cute to watch it rapidly flap its petite air riders. What can I say? I have a sore spot for cute things.

It quickly realized it could use wind magic to uplift itself. Its path was anything but straight, but it did land on my left shoulder. A smile graced my lips.

“Hey buddy. You doing ok?” I use my index finger to slightly rub the underside of the bird’s beak. “I think I’ll call you SparrowHawk.” I smiled at the thought. A cute little eagle named SparrowHawk.

SparrowHawk was a white eagle, with a much too big head. Its body seemed to be trying to fix that though.

The abilities of a fairy are based on the element they are made of. Wind fairies start with all stats but agility, dexterity, wisdom, and intelligence at 1.

For being a wind fairy SparrowHawk’s wisdom and intelligence stats equal half of the users stats. SparrowHawk’s agility equals its intelligence. SparrowHawk’s dexterity equals its wisdom.

For using the maximum amount of mana in the summoning ritual you have maximum intimacy with SparrowHawk.

SparrowHawk has benefited from the piety of the summoner. SparrowHawk has gained 9 luck.

If fairies die while in combat they return to the Ether Realm, and must be summoned.

Warning! You have exceeded the maximum amount of allowable summons at one time. Choose one summoning to send to the ether realm.Access to Pure Mana has lifted the maximum amount of allowable summons at one time.

So that was a completely pointless update? What the fuck ever man.

I continued on to the next summoning. The next summoning was a nature fairy. I was surprised that Susan actually had some of this shit.

I sprinkled the jar of dirt around in a circle. The leaves and twigs I placed in a picture of a large leaf. As I injected mana into it, the leaves and twigs began to swirl. They quickly formed a crude imitation of a monkey.

Leaves covered the places where the eyes would be, and sticks as limbs and a tail. The dirt surrounded the monkey, and flew off in all directions. The crude imitation, had turned into an actual a baby monkey.

I was getting all kinds cute companions today. The monkey scurried up my leg, and onto my right shoulder.

“Hi! My name is Moro!” The voice was happy, and definitely female. Moro had light brown fur, and slightly pointed ears.

Moro was already climbing around the room, trying to make mischief. I knew she’d be a handful when I upgraded her.

Moro’s stats were the same as SparrowHawk’s except dex was equal to int instead of wis.

Well, I guess Sol will have someone to chat with now.

Next was the most expensive ingredients. There was no set shape I needed, so I just poured everything on the ground. A cup of sulfur, several dried branches, and charcoal were piled on top of each other.

I lit the concoction with me fire mana. As it burned, the flames seemed to get caught in some sort of bubble. The flame wisps congealed into one large wisp.

The wisp darted around the room.

Drake was only a few fiery wisps that orbited a larger fire wisp, but the whole wisp thing was pretty cool. Hopefully it would be useful to me.

The wisps surrounded me, and I felt an uplifting spirit fly around me.

For being the first person to summon all eight mana fairy types, you have gained the Trait Mana Magnet.

Mana Magnet is the perfect trait for those that use mana. Mana will naturally bend to your will. Mana will now move more quickly to obey you. Time requirements for using mana will decrease dramatically based on the lowest ranked mana fairy you control.

Well… It’s bout fucking time I got something like this. This environmental mana bullshit took too damn long.

Suddenly I heard a voice, completely devoid of inflection. “Think of these as gifts for my future chosen. Hehehe.”

Hearing the Hehehe in a complete monotone was a little freaky, but that sentence was ominous. It made me wonder what the deity had planned.

Something felt wrong. Like everything was about to spiral out of control.

This must have been what happened to the Ancient Elves. He gave them too much power at once. Fuck. What do I do? I’m not giving the power back.
