Chapter 19 Snow, Snow Everywhere! Part 1
We wandered along the grass plains or to be more precise, the elf walked, Fay flew, and I relaxed on his shoulders. The sky was devoid of clouds, and the sun shone nice and warm. “A good day to wander about.” I thought with a satisfied expression.
“With this pace, it will take ages to arrive…” Fay let out a sigh and listlessly flapped her wings.
“Since our boat sank, we have no other choice but to take this longer way, even though I would prefer to get back as fast as possible myself.” The elf replied earnestly.
“Your boat sank?” I wagged my tail slowly in curiosity.
“Yes, originally we took one, but a storm hit us and it sank.”
“That was such an awful experience!” Fay flew around us. “My wings got soaked in sea water!” She trembled at the thought.
“Luckily, we were near the coast and not far away from the port town.” He continued, ignoring the fairy’s whining.
“I know that the port in the forest is secret and other races shouldn’t know about it, but why didn’t you buy a new one back in town?” I looked at him with questioning eyes.
He looked flustered, “Well… we lost most of our money when the boat sank…”
I continued to look at him in awkward silence… and out of pity, patted his head.

“What’s this?” Fay pointed at the dark cloud formation in the distance, “Don’t tell me it’s another storm…” She shivered at the thought.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
“How weird; it appears to be stationary.” He said after observing it for a while.
“Well, it’s on our way, so we will see what it is when we get there.” I still sat leisurely on his shoulder.

After walking for another few hours, the warm air got slowly replaced with cold. And as we came closer and closer to the clouds, the green lush scenery got coated in tiny crystals. “Frost!” Fay said loudly with a surprised expression, “But it was so warm before!”
The elf looked around carefully and grabbed onto the hilt of his dagger that was hanging around his waist. “You don’t have to be so tense; there is no danger.” I idly cleaned my paw and let my tail dangle as a cool breeze hit us.
“How can you be so carefree?! There might be a monster or something else that’s dangerous lurking here!” He confused looked at me, his breath accompanied by a misty cloud.
“Its fine!” Fay flew on his head and sat down, “If Nox says so, it must be true.”
He had a troubled expression on his face, unable to fully believe what I said. “Then what is causing this?”
I wagged my tail, and with a teasing expression, said, “You’ll see.”
After hearing my reply and seeing Fays and my relaxed behavior, he finally gave up trying to understand what went through a spirit’s mind.
And so we ventured deeper, the greenery more and more buried under a blanket of snow and frost. The sky once blue, turned grey and snowflakes started to fall, enhancing the dampening silence brought by the white powder. The elf unfamiliar with the cooled started to shake, and Fay didn’t seem fond of it either, hiding in the shoulder bag made out of fabric.
I excitedly jumped from his shoulder, landing in the perfectly tempered snow. My paws sank in a bit and the snow made a pleasant sound. Looking at it enticed, I put my paw on the next untouched area and the next and the next…
Before I realized it, I frolicked around in the snow. Rolling through it, making a snow angel cat edition, jumping through it, and digging my own igloo that I decorated with small ice cats dancing…
After a while I snapped out of it and slowly turned my head to my travel companions that I had completely forgotten about…
As I met the elf’s eyes, he quickly turned his head, mumbling. “I haven’t seen anything…”
“…”
“I’m an ice spirit, okay! I just can’t help myself when seeing so much snow!” I desperately tried to justify myself…
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone…” He said while still facing away from me…
“I know this feeling,” Fay started as she looked out of the bag, “I also like to hug trees!”
“This was uncalled for!” I looked at her weirded out.
“Too much information…” The elf was about to close the bag, while Fay looked at us with a pure innocent expression…
