Chapter 12 Nooo, my food! Part 1

*Fweeeeett*

*Squeak, squeak*

A whistle rang through the night, accompanied by the sounds of squeaking and tiny paws running…

She rubbed her eyes and tiredly walked to the window. Outside, a black silhouette whistled its whistle, countless mice and rats following its call. In a daze, she opened the window…

*Fweeeet*

Her small feet touched the cool stone as she successfully climbed out the window. Like hypnotized, she started to follow the shadow, wandering the streets.

In the stream of small animals other children could be seen heading the call of the whistle…

“Why is it closed?” I tilted my head as I sat before “Speisen” reading the note on the door “temporary closed”.

“My food!” I screamed in my head indignantly, “You can’t do this to me!”

As I entered the stage of depression with a lowered head and my paws playing with dust, I heard a voice calling out to me,

“Are you this sad to not get your food?”

“Haha, it’s an honor that you like my cooking that much!”

As I heard their voices, my ears twitched. I sprung up, and with tears in my eyes, jumped at them.

The calm man caught me, and I stared at the two. “I demand an explanation this instant!”

“Calm down, will you.” The calm man tried to reason with me, as I looked at them with tears and anger in my eyes.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

“You are as dramatic as ever.” He continued as my paw landed in his face.

“Hahaha, you really get along well!” the muscle man exclaimed joyfully, “I will cook you something as soon as this crisis is over!” he added energetically.

“Crises?” I looked at the calm man questioning, who still had my paw in his face.

“Well, in the last few days, more and more mice and rats have appeared in several restaurants across town, and we are no exception. So, we had to close down for now until this issue is resolved.” He explained.

“What?!” I looked at him shocked…

“You didn’t notice? Don’t cats usually like to hunt mice?”

“I’m not a cat! And I have no desire to play with mice either!”

“Anyway, the guild seems to be investigating, so there is probably more to it than meets the eye.” The calm man said lost in thoughts.

“Do you really think so Chrissy?” the muscle man asked.

The calm man gave the muscle man a pat on the back, “I’m just rambling on; pay it no mind.”

I jumped down from his arms as he looked at me and asked, “And what will you do now? As long as this problem isn’t solved, it means no cooking from Bruno for you.”

“Chrissy, couldn’t I just co-“ The muscle man stopped and looked bewildered at the calm man, who was pinching him in the side.

I raised my brow in suspicion, “What are you trying to pull? That sounds awfully like a threat.”

He kneeled down to me and whispered in my ear, “Sorry for this, but I know how lazy you can be and that you probably wouldn’t do anything without the right motivation.” He patted my head.

“Hey, that’s not true! …I like both of you! So, of course, I would help out!” I protested at him.

“Would you still help us if Bruno would continue to cook food for you despite the restaurant being closed down?” he asked me.

I tilted my head innocently, “Maybe… If I’m in the mood…” and looked at him with my cutest expression.

He looked at me and let out a small sigh. “If you help us, you’ll get an all-you-can eat buffet.”

“!” I looked at him with big eyes, my tail began to wag slowly.

“Why didn’t you say this sooner?! Let me deal with this real quick!” I exclaimed, filled with determination.

“Wait! Just so you know, I do this not just for the food!” I added with a stern face.

“I know, I know~” he said, patting my head again…

“Hilla and Veronica are at the guild, so you should start there.”

I nodded and turned my back to them, running in the guild’s direction.

As I was on my way to the guilt to get more information, I noticed something: “How come he could understand me? I didn’t telepathically communicate with him… Come to think of it, he always knew what I was thinking… I always thought it was just a coincidence or great intuition…”

As I tried to wrap my head around this mystery, I had already arrived at the guild.
