Chapter 18 The Start of a New “Adventure”

*Scratch*

I signaled with my claws that I was awake, “Open up, already…” I mumbled, still not fully awake.

The box opened, bathing me in the sun. I hopped out and looked at my surroundings. We were in the middle of a lush grass plain, with here and there a few trees and a dirt path.

I looked at the unfamiliar elf; he had long platinum hair that was braided at the end, light green eyes, and wore plain travel clothes.

I let my eyes wander to the small creature that looked like a fairy; her bright green hair seemed to glow like her wings that were of the same color, and her brown eyes looked at me with anticipation. “Nox!” She flew in my face unable to contain her excitement, “You’re finally awake!”

“How long was I asleep?” I asked the elf, ignoring the hyperactive fairy clinging to my face…

“You slept for three days.”

“It was excruciatingly long!” the fairy added while flying away from my face and angrily putting her hands on her hips.

“You are too impatient, Fay; it was just three days,” I yawned, “I could sleep for another year after all I went through…”

“You can’t!”

“No!”

They shouted in tandem, looking at me in panic…

I tilted my head and narrowed my eyes, a glint of anger in them; it was interrogation time, “So, why did you catnap me?”

A shiver run down their spines as I meet their eyes.

“That- I’m sorry!” The elf bowed down to me, ”But we had no choice; we need your help!”

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

“Right! It’s a big emergency!” Fay flew around in hectic, trying to justify their actions. “If we had simply asked you, the chance of you declining was too high!”

“Why do I get a sense of Déjà-vu…?” I thought as I kept staring at them.

“B-Besides, Alfdís said it was okay to do it…” She nervously avoided my stare…

*sigh*

“So Alfdís asked you, fine… I don’t have anything to do right now anyway.” I said letting my tail move in satisfaction form teasing them.

I looked at the elf who was still bowing with his head on the ground, “You can get up, and who are you anyway?”

He lifted his head, “My apologies for the late introduction. I am Álfur Photius Frühlingsblütenerwachen. My mother, Alfdís Phaedra Frühlingsblütenerwachen, leader of the elves, bestowed upon me the mission to find you and ask for your aid.” He said all tensed up.

“You can relax; I’m not angry…” I looked at him calmy. “I didn’t expect he would panic so much, just from me staring…”

The elf’s expression eased up a bit.

“So, you aren’t angry anymore!” Fay exclaimed, reverting back to her usual self and flying around me in excitement.

“I didn’t know Alfdís had a son…” I looked at him, “You do resemble her…”

“Ah,” the elf answered immediately, “I was born a few years after you left.”

“Hmm, has it been this long already?”

“It’s been 82 years since you left! It’s been so long, but you never visited once!” the fairy replied overdramatically.

“Really, that long…?” I looked at them relaxed, with no care in the world.

The fairy flew around me screaming, “Even for a fellow spirit, your sense of time is totally messed up!”

“Don’t you have a way too accurate sense of time for a fellow spirit?” I countered her jokingly.

“So, why do you need my help?” I asked, changing the topic and looking back to the elf.

“Then allow me to explain…” A lengthy explanation followed, and while I listened, Fay fell asleep on my head.

Long story short: an unknown powerful monster appeared out of nowhere in the elves forest called “Wald”, attacking the elves who live there, and because they couldn’t beat it, Alfdís asked for my help. “That even she can’t beat it…”

“Hmm,” I looked at him with a contemplating expression as he finally finished, “Sounds bothersome…”

The elf nervously looked at me, hesitant to speak, ”… so… you won’t help us after all?”

“I never said that; I will help you.” I shook my body to wake up Fay, who almost fell to the ground but instinctively started to fly. She rubbed her eyes, “Yawn, are you done explaining? Can we go now?”

“Yeah, let’s go.” I jumped on the elf’s shoulder, who looked at me in surprise. Fay started to fly around us, filled with motivation, and in a silly fighting pose declared, “Let’s beat that monster up!”

For some reason, on the elf’s face, a look of resignation showed. So, I petted him on the head.
