Chapter 71 - An unannounced King!

Elijah: “Noel, were you not allowed to have pets growing up?”

Noel: “My- My parent’s were normal everyday parents before they died. They … They just didn’t like me talking about getting pets.”

Rise: “Bahahaha, I almost feel sorry for you! Almost! Ahahaha!”

Noel: “Who are YOU to laugh anyways?! Calling me an animal… I’M not even the one smelling bathrooms and depending on my nose to escape that maze. If anyone’s an animal here: IT’S YOU!”

Rise: “Wha—I was not SMELLING THE BATHROOM! I was LOS-”

Elijah: “Okay! That is enough, stop fighting, please. More importantly, did either of you notice what occurred down there with Ophelia?”

Noel: “Ophelia?”

Rise: “Yeah, we felt the tremors and Mr. Abrams explained what was going on. Heheh, maybe I should break the walls down next time I get lost~”

Noel: Pff, you’re too weak.”

Rise: “Grr! YOU-!”

Noel: “How’s she doing? Mr. Abrams was telling us about the fight between Huroznik and Harvey until he vanished...

...Wait.

… On the screen, that...was all that caused by Harvey and Huroznik’s battle?!”

Rise: “...He didn’t smell all that dangerous… Wow. I’m kind of impressed. It must have been one heck of a grand fight. I regret missing it!”

Noel: “...looks can be deceiving, I suppose.”

{Should I reevaluate him? No… even this level of damage is nothing special. I’ve seen a LOT worse on missions. This is nothing new. But considering Mr. Abram said crossing 5 miles in 15 minutes is normally a good thing, and that MY normal is what’s crazy...isn’t this type of battle a little… to much?}

Oliviera: “No no, you both misunderstood one important *Munches* detail! That was ALL done by that mo---by Ophelia.”

Rise: “...What?”

Noel: “…”

{It’s as I thought. I DO need to look out for her strength. It’s not something I can gauge with just this and before…}

Oliviera: “Yeah *Munches* it was scary.”

Rise: “I knew she had good muscles and a really dangerous smell, but...”

Noel: “Wait, wasn’t she just a referee?! How did all of this even occur while the Principal is watching? How is she right now??”

Elijah: “Ophelia’s...well, this is what happened…”

Random Spectator #1: “What… What… What… What… What… the fuck.”

Random Spectator #2: “She… She… She… She… She…”

Random Spectator #3: “Just now… she sent Harvey… no, KING Harvey… fl-fl-flying…

.

.

...How could a non-combatant trash...Oop! Please don’t hear me, please don’t hear me-””

Random Spectator #776: “How did she do it?? That was...That was HARVEY! She shouldn’t be able to beat him even WITH super-strength! He’s the King of super-strength! The Biceps King! I can’t see how somebody like he--...”

Random Spectator #777: “...Wh – what is it? Why did you suddenly stop talking..?”

Random Spectator #776: “We-Well...Just how far did she fly when Harvey pu-...pu-punched her..?”

Random Spectator #777: “I don’t think she flew at all. She only fell backw---

Random Spectator #776:You… You r-realized it too..?”

Random Spectator #777: “Sh-Shut up, shut up, shut up! I don’t wan’t to think about it – I refuse! I refuse to believe that she can tank Harvey’s powered-up punch, the SAME Kingly blow that one-hit K.Oed Huroznik, with her FACE and not be sent the same 20 feet as him – I refuse!”

Random Spectator #776: “A...A wolf in sheep’s clothing… A wolf in sheep’s clothing.

…An unannounced King!”

[...Okay! Haha, please give me juust one second to verify the match results. And figure out what the hell is actually going on…!]

Principal Leyman: “...I’m back. What’s up?”

Announcer: “...What’s up? What’s up?

...WHAT’S UP?! Should I TELL you WHAT’S UP?? The entire PLATFORM is decimated, the walls ARE IN SHAMBLES, I don’t even know whether Harvey should be expelled for attacking the referee, suspended or WHAT, or should we completely pardon everything he’s done here because he’s one of the Ten ‘Kings’ we’re promoting? ALSO is it even possible to explain away this much damage?! And WASN’T SHE supposed to be a non-combatant?! Should SHE be expelled for lying to us all?! Should we THANK Harvey for revealing that monster in human clothing?! Where do I even start, huh?!”

Principal Leyman: “How about by breathing. I promise to tackle each point you made in order.”

Announcer: “Please do, because I am actually tired of thinking about it.”

Principal Leyman: “Point number 1) We have a spare don’t we? Use that. It should only take a day to install.

Point number 2) We can build better ones. The anti-power symbols were wonky and contained various exploitable loopholes because nobody was here to maintain them. They were self-sufficient which was LESS effective than having to depend on somebody powering them during these fights. It was also a huge cost-effective plan that prevented ME from having to pay another salary wage.”

Announcer: “I...I see.”

Principal Leyman: "Anyways rebuilding the cracked walls will only take about 1...maybe 2 days at most. Three days all-together if we do them by focusing primarily on one at a time. Speaking of three--

Point number 3) No, don’t expel him: Suspend him – do so until further notice. Also announce it, so other children don’t try this with non-combatants in the future. While we can’t refuse the Hero Society’s choice of favored students to focus our attention on, we CANNOT allow villainous behavior to sprout within our younger generation! And furthermore: today is about the NON-COMBATANT building we INTRODUCED just this morning! How can we permit this fool to get AWAY with wounding one on the FIRST day!

SCREW THAT!!”

Announcer: “I – I wholly agree Principal Leyman sir, but – but may I remind you about her strength--!”

Principal Leyman: “Eric, listen closely.

Points 4, 5, 6 and 7 are completely unimportant because they ALL fall under the category of ‘the less you know: the better’. Understand? Just explain everything away as her being my Granddaughter and she’ll be fine. Take care of it, Eric. I trust you know how to phrase it?”

Eric the announcer: “...Yes sir. I mean...Grandfather. I’ll...claim her as my…….sister.”

Principal Leyman: “Good! I KNEW I could always count on you, Eric! Just let me know what I can do for you in exchange for this and you’ll get it – whatever it is!”

Eric the grandson: “…”

Mr. Abrams: “Are you okay now, Ophelia?”

Ophelia: “I...I did...all this…? To… to Harvey..?”

Mr. Abrams: “…I’ve got to bring Harvey to the infirmary, why don’t you come with me? After that, I’ll take you guys to the dorms where you can rest until class starts tomorrow.”

Ophelia: “Will… Will everything be fine?”

Mr. Abrams: “Mmm, hard to say. Honestly, including the destruction to the walls, you DID cause a lot of damage, but it’s all easily repairable. In the end: We’ll probably get a short reprieve. It’ll take a few days to complete the Orientation games, but that’s perfectly fine. That will grant us enough time to settle you kids in and get to know each other.”

Ophelia: “...Mr. Abrams, I-”

Mr. Abrams: “*Raises Hand* No need to explain, I saw everything that transpired after you broke through the final walls.”

Ophelia: “...”

Mr. Abrams: “...Haaah, I probably – no, I KNOW I shouldn’t be saying this sort of thing to my student, but… He attacked you first. You retaliated in self defense. Out of fear first, THEN anger. Remember that. I’m proud that you stuck up for yourself this time around.”

Ophelia: “…”

Mr. Abrams: “...Let’s go.”

*Vwoosh!*

Mr. Abrams: “Hello? Is anyone there? Ms. Daisy? May we come in? I brought you a patient...maybe two…”

Ms. Daisy: “Hold on~ I’m coming to open up the door now! Give me JUUUST one sec - *Rip* There! *Pat - Pat*”

Dome: “OW! Too tight – that hurts!”

Ms Daisy: “Wahh! Big deal back when the school was invaded that one time 30 years ago you took more damage than this and still had enough moxy to wallop a few of them villains! Turn that pain into energy and get moving outta my room! COMING~”

Dome: “My arm, my poor arm... It feels like all of the blood in it is restricted… My poor…”

*SSShhaak!*

Ms. Daisy: “Oh Honey! Ophelia darlin’ you’re safe! Thank goodness gracious!”

Ophelia: “...Hello.”

Dome: “...Next time… I’ll try and tough it out.”

Ophelia: “...I’m sorry.”

Dome: “...Haah. It’s not the end of the world. On the bright side, you not only revealed this school’s weakness in over-depending on the symbols, but also managed to open everyone’s eyes about Harvey.

...Well, not everyone, I’m sure. But...yeah.

I’m certain he only attacked you because you were a non-combatant. Had he known about your strength, well haha, unless he’s stupid, he wouldn’t blatantly anger you by striking your face.”

Ms. Daisy: “Darlin’, I can see that you’re feeling scared. I realize that you feel awful but you wanna know something? I would have punched him too JUST like you did, if I were in your shoes.

This strength of yours, don’t hate it. Okay? You’ll come to appreciate it when nobody is left to protect you.”

Ophelia: “...But, I… I couldn’t… I mean I didn’t mean to-”

Ms. Daisy: “Shh, It’s okay. Relax, Relax~ Everything will be alright.”

Mr. Abrams: "…I’ll leave Harvey here with you.”

Ms. Daisy: “Got it, return to your dorms child. We’ll be seeing each other shortly.”

Ophelia: “...Hmm? Why is that?”

Ms. Daisy: “Heeheehee, why, who else, other than me would be better suited to teach you all about how to dress a wound?”

Dome: “The forty other nurses stationed at our school...”

Ms Daisy: “…”

*Smack!*

Dome: “Oww! Okay – okay~ you’re the best! The BEST nurse, the greatest of them all! Now stop grabbing my arm! It hasn’t fully healed yet!!

Ms. Daisy: “Hmhmph! So long as you understand~”
