Chapter 168 – The 10 Kings’ visitation! Part 3

Two strange visitors now stood side by side. One was a male with a very short haircut. In fact, it was in truth, borderline on becoming a buzz cut had his hair been shaved any shorter. His heroic school uniform was a hint of purple in the form of a vest, while a red formal shirt and wine colored tie spoke volumes about his lack of desire to break the dress code today.

Even though he had a match coming up soon.

He was dressed entirely formal. If there was anything strange about him…

Yes

It was the fact that laid around his left and right wrists were a pair of strange bracelets. Each bead that made the unisex piece of jewelry was about the size of a golf ball, give or take a little bit of overall size. There was a small hole on one end of each bead, and a sliding indentation at the other. The balls varied just the teensiest bit in size from one another, and the positions of certain holes were different. But one had to peer very carefully to understand these sort of barely noticeable nuances.

There was one thing very clear, however. This man, Nikita Abdulov, would move constantly – whether in place or around the room. And as he did so, those beads released faint sparkles of varying colors, depending on the beads. Those sparkles led to magical streaks of light resembling ribbons, to decorate the patient’s bedroom.

The next person was a girl wearing an interesting outfit. It appeared to be the school’s dress code uniform, but while she had the formal red tee shirt and violet vest, metal plating had been custom inlaid into the fragile wear. How this was done could only be possible explained away through magic, because that type of outfit did NOT look like it was made with expensive or powerful materials. At the very least, while the attire seemed pretty enough, it definitely didn’t look as if the uniform could safely contain the protective upper chest and stomach plating. Resting upon her modern pin - up hairstyle appeared to be an interestingly shiny – gold circlet. It shone with the bedroom light fixture’s brilliance, causing it to blind either of the two that stared for too long. Similar to the haughty – yet – thoughtful empress, she too, sported a gift basket in her arms. Nikita did not, however there WAS a strangely obvious bulge in one of his dress pant’s. This woman, with beautiful auburn colored hair, a sword attached to each hip and a pclaymore and shield combo affixed onto her back went by the name…

?: “Kari Avens. That’s my name. I came to offer get-well soon gifts, as well as a peace offering. But, now that you have amnesia, there’s no need for the latter.”

Noel: “A ‘peace’ offering? Why do I need something like that?”

Kari Avens: “There really wasn’t anything more between us other than you mouthing off in an extremely rude manner. In light of that, I’ve deigned it suitable to forgive you.”

Rise: “Okay, you two spoke up. You each said your piece, now go shoo! Leave those gifts to the side and fly away little birdie!”

Yes, ‘little birdie was the name granted to this woman known strongly as ‘Valkyrie’. Not only because she was the Queen of the feathered maidens, but because attached to each of her shiny greaves – which were fixed together with the armored boots she wore, were a set of metallic wings. She also wore similar styled wings on her back, and a condensed pair resting at the sides of her beautiful circlet. But unlike their armored, rigid and unmovable appearance, these pairs of wings flapped with vigor and life to spare!

Nikita Abdulov: “Don’t be so unfriendly~ Unfriendly~ UNFRRRRRRIEEEEEEENNDLYYYYY~! WE came representing our positions to offer our condolences. It was truly horrible what happened before. We’re sorry for that.”

Noel: “Huh? Um… Why are YOU apologizing? The ones who attacked us were those mercenaries and the teachers and Security staff were the people that failed us. What does this have to do with you?”

Kari Avens: “Yes, it is true those security failed to protect you guys. The staff members designed to guard you all mysteriously ‘vanished’ from their posts. Not even blood was left on the scene. The problem is that it isn’t known whether they neglected their duties and were ambushed, or if they turned traitor.

But that matters not. THIS is the reason we fought so hard on Orientation day to drive you people away. During such an attack, at least WE can defend ourselves. You people can’t. And since super - villains do NOT like us, and REFUSE to see our growth succeed and transform us into the next generation of heroes, there may be many more of such attacks. What you people suffered, is only a minor inconvenience to the Hero Division.

I hope you people can think carefully about your stay here. After all, nobody among us Ten Kings truly wishes for you civilian students to suffer. We only … we’re afraid that we’ll accidentally hurt you and be blamed for it. We came to this school in order to train. Because some hero students cannot control their powers properly, wouldn’t retiring heroes be better suited?

Just take my words as… food for thought.”

Kari Avens and Nikita Abdulov quickly and swiftly departed at her spoken words. Despite coming here and showing their good intentions, they had several matches to prepare for. Matches among the Ten Kings!

That’s correct. First would be a series of matches for the Ten Kings to flaunt their might. Those would be ones where anybody could have a one vs one match against that king. No more ‘special rules’ matches after Harvey’s embarrassing show! These matches would all be handled by Dome! But afterwards… Their would be 5 simple matches among the 10 to showcase their might!

Noel: “This time, those two didn’t even introduce themselves as ‘Ten Kings’ members. I wonder if this is a political move…”

Rise: “Who cares! Really taking those clowns seriously is not something I’m about to do. Rather, *clenches fist* I wanna know who the fucking bastard that killed the black-haired kid in our class was! I mean, who hired those killers…! I won’t let them get off easily!”

Although he said his piece like this, his mind was still as an undisturbed lake. He knew there was absolutely zero – or close to zero - chances at discovering the culprit that hired those criminals. He was merely venting his anger to a kindred comrade in arms, as well as testing Noel’s true motives by checking out his facial expressions. After all, he still didn’t completely trust the runt.

But once more; before Noel could respond to Rise’s words… footsteps were heard. Loud, heavy footsteps. And with them, the door suddenly swung open!

...The next ‘Generation Leader’ or ‘King’ to pay their small room a visit, was Harvey.

Harvey. He donned a cast over one arm, a neck brace, both eyes were bruised and his chest was heavily bandaged all the way don to the abdominal muscles. His only good hand held flowers in their grip, but it tightened fiercely around the poor living specimens upon seeing one of the familiar-looking patients.

One that had previously brought him embarrassment and shame.

Unsurprisingly, his lips curled upwards, forming a smile. Finally. This punk could get what’s coming to him! the other would be easily to threaten into silence, too! And just speaking honestly and inwardly; seeing the kid who failed to show Harvey the proper respect that he KNOWS he deserves being injured on the same day, and still lying in a hospital bed while he was about to tear off his casts and fight…

It softened the anger buried deep within his heart, and filled him with joy.

A sense of elation wafted over his figure as he cockily and tauntingly strutted on over with his smug appearance. Without even sparing Rise a glance, he threw the flowers at the wild – kid’s face as if such a trivial matter wasn’t even worth his time.

And of course, without waiting for a response from the other party, he began to speak. First towards Rise, he told him aloud, without taking his eyes off of Noel

Harvey: “No need to thank me. I carefully chose those flowers myself. Get better soon~ heheh.”

If one looked closely at Rise, after the flowers unstuck their film wrapping from his face, one would see a vein bulging incessantly form his forehead.

However, he didn’t speak. Not because he didn’t WANT to, but instead, because He had already moved the topic of focus over to Noel.

Harvey: “Ahahaha! Well now, would you look at who we’ve got here! It’s that brat that didn’t want to listen to me! I warned you~ I TOLD you this school was too dangerous for a little powerless punk like you to act all high and mighty inside~ And now look at yourself! Well then, got anything you would like to say to me THIS time? Maybe, oh I don’t know… AN APOLOGY for biting the hand that tries to help feed y--”

Noel: “I’m sorry but, who are you again? No, better yet, can you just leave? You gave him your flowers and we already received lots of visitors today. Besides, you look even worse off than I do right now, it’s kind of sad to see, if I’m being honest. Should I call my nurse back to take a look at you?”
