Chapter 9: Yokai Extermination

Chapter 9: Yokai Extermination

Solus sprinted across the cavern walls as a barrage of shockwaves smashed into the wall behind him. Solus jumped off the wall and front-flipped over another shockwave from the stone sono-golem. Telekinetic energy gathered around one of Solus' legs as he pulled it back before swinging his leg and unleashing a telekinetic energy slash.

The TE(telekinetic energy) slash cut through the torrent of shockwaves, from the stone sono-golem's mana core, before slicing the stone sono-golem's left arm vertically in half. Solus pulled his fist back and a swarm of large TE fists appeared around him. Solus landed on one of the fists before leaping at the sono-golem, with the TE fists racing behind him.

The sono-golem hurled its intact arm at Solus whilst it gathered mana into its mana core. Solus partly backflipped over the sono-golem's arm before sliding down it and smashing the sono-golem's head in with an axe kick.

The sono-golem's head completely crumbled into rubble as it flailed its arms around in an attempt to hit Solus, who had already backed off onto a separate stone pillar. Solus peered around and spotted a stone pillar with a pointed tip, which gave him an idea.

Solus bolted for the sono-golem and as it swung one of its arms close to Solus he slid under it. Solus balled up his fist as the magic marks on that arm shone even brighter before he socked the sono-golem's mana core and managed to crack it. Solus smirked before he pulled his fist back and punched the mana core again with enough force that it propelled the sono-golem into the air, where the TE fists were waiting.

Solus clenched his fist which, in sync with his signal, caused all the TE fists to rocket at the sono-golem and unleashed a flurry of punches that decimated the sono-golem. The sono-golem unleashed another AOE shockwave that repelled all the TE fists for a split second. Solus scoffed and glanced back at the spike pillar before back at the sono-golem which was unleashing a torrent of shockwaves in every direction except downwards.

A loud rock crumbling sound alerted the golem and it spun around just in time for the stone spike pillar, which was covered in TE, to pierce through its chest and by extension its mana core. The sono-golem rocketed upwards into the cavern's ceiling before being completely skewered by a barrage of TE-covered stalagmites. Mana started to seep out of the sono-golem's body as its body crumbled apart and descended into the ravine.

"I would have prefered to drop the golem on the spike than toss the spike but now's not the time to be picky," Solus commented and after looking around for any more sono-golems Solus parkoured in the direction Lumina and the others went.

Somewhere else in the cavern, Lumina, Camellia, Nebula, Metsu, Tsarina and Zu(the pink spider) peaked their heads over a boulder and looked upon the pact of fox yokai. Lumina calmly glared at the yokai and quietly muttered multiple strategies for taking the yokai down.

"Perhaps that would work..." Lumina muttered as Solus landed behind the group.

"Got a game plan do you?" Solus asked as the magic marks all over his body disappeared. Lumina nodded her head and created a small platinum-coloured wind drill around her finger before starting to etch something into the ground. The others crowded around Lumina as she drew a crude map on the ground.

"So here's the plan, I and Cami will fire a barrage of fireballs to crowd the yokai together; then Solus and Nebula will use their Nebulous Requiem to completely annihilate them with a single strike while being buffed by Tsarina and Metsu," Lumina explained.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

"But Rina's Azure Ability's dangerous," Nebula mumbled as she climbed onto Solus' back. Solus stroked Nebula's head while telling her not to worry.

"That's right, Nebs. Solus will be fine I mean he survived having his soul surged once for like a minute, so five seconds will be nothing for him," Tsarina said confidently as she floated to Nebula while sitting on a bird made of shadow mana.

Nebula defeatedly sighed as she reached into her chest and pulled out Nebulous Requiem(the long katana that matches nebula's hair colour with a golden handle). She handed Nebulous Requiem to Solus as Camellia placed Metsu on Tsarina's shadow bird and Zu hopped onto Lumina's shoulder.

The group went over the plan one more time before Lumina and Camellia snuck over to the yokai while Solus got into a combative stance as Metsu used a magic boost spell on him. Lumina and Camellia stealthily snuck onto each side of the yokai pack. The girls signal to each other and on the count of three they each created a volley of fireballs.

One of the yokai foxes spotted the fireballs surrounding the pact; it howled and alerted the other yokai before they all got into combative stances as the fireballs raced for them. The fireballs crashed into the ground around the yokai, startling them and causing them to jump backwards into each other.

"You ready Solus?" Tsarina asked rhetorically as she created a small purple/magenta five-pointed mana star. Tsarina flew around Solus before shooting the mana star onto Solus' chest. Solus activated his magic marks, around his body, and leapt onto the cavern roof, which was roughly twenty meters or about twenty Lumina stacked on top of each other.

Solus landed on the cavern roof before instantly jumping downwards and dive-bombing for the yokai. As he descended for the yokai, the mana star began to shine and Solus' hair and eyes also began to shine while having a wavey texture on them.

Solus tightened his grip on Nebulous Requiem and pulled it behind him as the veins(both the magic mark ones and his actual blood veins) bulged up. The yokai sensed Solus and darted their heads up. The yokai attempted to jump out of the way but all tripped over by the pink spider silk that was wrapped around all the yokai's legs.

"Nice work Zu," Lumina said as she gave Zu a hive five, well more of a high one since she used a single finger and Zu well doesn't have fingers.

Solus flexed every fibre of his body before unleashing a massive blue nebula-coloured energy slash, we enough force that it managed to push Solus upwards. The energy slash plummeted to the ground before colliding with the yokai, ripping them to pieces and atomizing them in a split second. The slash continued on its path as it sliced into the ground and left a massive indent that could've been mistaken for a mini ravine.

Camellia peeked her head over the edge of the sudo-ravine and placed her hand on her chin.

"I'd say that's about fifty... wait is it still going?" Camellia commented as Solus crashed into the ground while holding Nebula above him so she wouldn't be harmed in the crash. Solus placed Nebula on the ground and slowly sat up as his body reverted back to normal.

"I... ow... forgot how much of a toll that has on my body...," Solus exhaustedly said as he breathed heavily and staggered to his feet. Lumina giggled to herself as she and the others regrouped by Solus.

"Well duh, under normal circumstances anyone who enters the soul surge state would die so naturally it would leave you in a strained state," Lumina snarked as she created a floating mana platform next to Solus and pushed him onto it. Nebula quickly climbed onto the floating platform and layed on top of Solus like a cat.

"I'll be... fine Nebi-Chan," Solus struggled to say as Nebula repeatedly bopped Solus on the chest. Lumina rolled her eyes as she heard her phone make a ding noise; she pulled her phone out of her hoodie pocket and checked the recent message. Lumina's eyes slightly widened and she quickly placed the tracking magic card in her phone's pouch before placing her phone back in her hoodie pocket.

"We need to get home right now, the phoenix guy just arrived," Lumina said panically as she tossed everyone onto her floating platform which tripled in length and jumped onto it before the platform raced off.
