Nini tapped the side of her cat-themed headphones, and her brain was running a million thoughts a second as she tried to comprehend what Sovereign could mean by Solus making an imbalanced mix of spirit mana.
"Imbalance... mix... I wonder...," Nini murmured as she continued to tap the side of her cat-themed headphones.
Solus stared at his pale blue sphere of qi before Nabula and Tsarina crept their heads into his peripheral vision. The trio muttered amongst themselves before the two spirits each raised a hand over the Solus' qi sphere. Nebula funnelled her dark royal blue spirit energy, and Tsarina funnelled her purple/magenta spirit energy into each other until it was a blend of the two energies and became fifty-fifty.
"... I thought mixing our energies would've been harder," Tsarina remarked aloud.
"Would you like some insight from me?" Sovereign asked.
"Nah... the complicated inner workings of things just hurt my head," Tsarina cheerfully said. Sovereign was a little taken aback at Tsarina's disinterest in knowing the reasons for her and Nebula's ease in mixing their spirit energies. Solus' qi sphere and the mixed spirit energy sphere orbited each other like celestial suns until they collided and collapsed into a single pale blue sphere of spirit mana.
"Fifty, twenty-five, twenty-five," Nebula murmured as she stared at the sphere of spirit mana made between the trio's qi/spirit energy. The students were absolutely silent and watched in complete curiosity at the unusual events transpiring before them. Nini intently stared at the backs of Nebula and Tsarina's outreached hands and noticed their spirit pact marks.
"Those Spirit Pact Marks have similar frames... so he really has two Spirit Partners, and they're both girls at that. Maybe because they both have Spirit Pact Marks from the same person they were able to mix their spirit energies like two spirits without Spirit Pact Marks can...," Nini murmured. Nini mused over the possibilities brought about by Nebula and Tsarina being able to mix their spirit energy.
"Perhaps the only time spirits can't mix spirit energies is when the spirits have Spirit Pact Marks from different Spirit Wielders," Nini muttered to herself, causing Sovereign to smirk.
"At least someone figured it out," Sovereign remarked under his breath.
"Huh?" Tsarina uttered perplexedly.
"It's nothing, Tsarina. Now, Solus Sakamoto, would you like to insert your spirit mana into the evaluation gem?" Sovereign said while gesturing to the evaluation gem. Solus bowed and phased his spirit mana into the evaluation gem. Solus' spirit mana remained in the centre of the evaluation gem, and the other students leaned forward while keeping their eyes on the evaluation gem.
A faint chinking sound emanated from the evaluation gem, causing the students to lean even closer toward it; the evaluation gem's outer layer cracked with a loud bang and the sudden sound startled the other students, along with Nebula, Tsarina and Zu. The spirit mana within the evaluation gem slowly formed into a bold question mark with the text INT Overflow Error below it.
"What happened?" Moxiloph remarked. The first girl who did the evaluation stood up and pushed up her large silver circular book-reading glasses, causing them to gleam from the sunlight hitting them. (The girl's a short [slightly above the average height of a dwarf] light-tanned-skin half-elf and half-dwarf with slightly long three-pointed elf ears; she has ocean blue short scruffy hair and crystal clear blue eyes)
"Yes, Beth Tempest, would you like to explain what you think just happened?" Sovereign asked while he placed his hands behind his waist. Beth sheepishly bowed to Sovereign before she stood up straight again.
"O-of course, sir. Just for some context, I'm also doing a computer course and know some things about computers and magic tech; so, you know how when you're using a calculator and if the number is too big or too low, which normally means the person isn't a Spirit Wielder, for it to display the number it shows an error, that's basically what happened here for Solus," Beth stated.

"And, given the evaluation gem cracked, we can assume it's the too-high option?" the student sitting next to Beth asked. For a brief moment, the other students were silent before they erupted into excited chanting, causing Solus to cover his face with one of his hands. Gale lept out of his seat and stood on top of it while pointing at Solus.
"I knew you'd be like those overpowered MCs from magic school animes!" Gale proclaimed causing Solus to groan in embarrassment while Nebula hugged and comforted him.
After the students calmed down, Sovereign jokingly muttered he wondered if Callie could make an improved evaluation gem, even though he already knew the answer.
"For the time being, Solus, your rank will be a question mark, and overflow will be Spirit Union Apptitue compatibility," Sovereign stated. Solus bowed, but Kara walked up to her father and poked his leg.
"But father, can't you just tell us what Solus' results are?" Kara asked with a disappointed look on her face. Sovereign shook his head.
"Even if I did, the results I stated previously would still be used given the process for examining Spirit Wielders," Sovereign stated. Kara huffed in a strop before marching back to her seat, followed by Solus returning to his seat.
"Now, with the examination completed you're all free to go," Sovereign stated as he picked up the evaluation gem and its podium. The students were a little puzzled by Soveriegn's words so he decided to elaborate.
"Given you'd be having practical training for the entirety of today, but since most of you don't have a spirit union weapon yet that'll have to wait until you've learned how to make a weapon," Sovereign stated, causing the students' confusion to subside.
"But what about those who do have spirit union weapons?" Nini asked.
"Then you can train in the designated training area by yourselves since I need to take this evaluation gem to be repaired," Sovereign stated. The students bowed and thanked Sovereign for his time before they left, leaving Sovereign to wonder if he should ask Abigail if she'd like to fix the evaluation gem.
Solus walked through the halls of the academy with Nebula and Tsarina in his kitsune tails while Camellia and Gale were by his sides. Solus looked around and sighed in relief upon seeing the only people from his class nearby were Pitto and Xiazorm, who were following Gale instead of him. Nebula poked Solus' shoulder to get his attention before pointing at Camellia, as she appeared troubled by something.
"Is something wrong?" Solus asked. Camellia was startled out of her train of thought by Solus' abrupt question, but she quickly recomposed herself.
"Yeah..., I'm worried you might get picked on by people outside of our class for having a question mark for a rank or non-existent compatibility score," Camellia stated with a troubled tone.
"Don't you worry yourself, my amigo; once anyone foolish enough to doubt Solus sees him in action they will realize how dumb they are," Gale remarked smugly as Pitto and Xiazorm popped their head around from Gale, causing him to nervously flinch.
"Right you are, cute fuzzy... gremlin, that's why I have a suggestion," Nini proclaimed as she, with Ano, Moxiloph, and Beth stood in Solus and co's path. The group came to a stop before Nini's group while Gale embarrassedly squinted at Nini.
"Gremlin? You're barely taller than me," Gale murmured as he crossed his arms dismissively.
"Can't a gremlin call another gremlin a gremlin?" Ano remarked before Nini went to elbow Ano but stopped herself and slapped Ano's novel out of his hand. Nini rubbed her face to remove as much of the blush on her face as she could before releasing her face and pointing at Solus.
"I, Nini Kimitorou, challenge you, Solus... Sakamoto (that surname sounds familiar), to a duel for Class Representative!" Nini proclaimed while muttering under her breath about why she thought Solus' surname sounded so familiar. Solus sighed and crossed his arms unenthusiastically as a small crowd formed from Nini's proclamation.
"Is that really necessary? You can have the position if you want to take it," Solus said as Kara walked in front of Solus and waved both her arms to get his attention.
"Not allowed," Kara stated boldly.
"Why's that, Kara?".
"It's a tradition in the Spirit Wielder courses in this country for the top students to have a duel to decide the Class Representative, so you have to, one declarations it," Kara said sassily with her hands on her hips. Solus groaned and itched his forehead before he sighed and lowered his hand.
"Fine... we accept your challenge, Nini Kimitorou," Solus stated while the murmuring of the surrounding crowd of students increased in volume and intensity.
