Chapter 13: Something Something Sidetracked

Solus walked behind the others while scanning every inch of every street he and the others walked through. Solus sighed as his attempts to locate the abandoned spirit were in vain; he felt Nebula lightly squeeze his hand as she worriedly stared up at him.

"If you keep staring like that, Solus, your eyes will fall out," Lunima said snarkily as she looked back at Solus whilst she and Camellia waited by the street corner.

"You'd be doing the same if you knew why he's doing it," Tsarina said while Zu, sitting on Tsarina's head, pointed at Lumina with multiple of their front spider legs. Lumina's eyes lightened up a little, and she looked away while saying nothing. Camellia looked between the siblings before itching her head.

"And why might the reason be?" Camellia asked while looking at Solus. Solus sighed and went to speak but stopped as something caught his eye. Camellia itched one of her demon horns before looking back to see what Solus was looking at; she saw the short child-sized dark-brown-skinned girl wearing the same school uniform as the group and struggling to read something on her touch-screen phone on the other side of the small road separating the sidewalks. (she was a half-succubus [four large bat-like hip wings with two being dark crimson and two being snow white, and a long thin crimson tail with a large sphere-shaped tail tip] and half-kitsune [four super long kitsune tails, and kitsune ears that have the same colour gradient as her hair]. She has super long curly dark crimson violet and spikey snow white hair with glowing tips, a glowing snow white right eye, and a non-glowing crimson left eye)

"Isn't that?" Lumina asked, with Lumina's voice seeming to catch the girl's attention. The girl smiled before she skipped across the road while waving to the group.

"Well, if it isn't my two favourite extended family members, and...~," the girl said boastfully with a cheeky and girly tone. The girl peered at Camellia before tilting her head like a lost dog.

"I think... I've seen you before... right?" the girl murmured as she looked at Camellia, who had an unchanging stunned expression. The girl shrugged before placing her hands on her hips.

"Whatevs, I'll just introduce myself; I am Abigail Anthem Sakamoto: the first daughter of Demon Lord Jeslyina Anthem and Zalk-" Abigail managed to say before being hoised off her feet by Camellia and put into a passionate bear hug.

"Omgs another cutie~" Camellia excitedly, while swinging Abigail around. Camellia paused before a worried look grew on her face, and she lightened her hug on Abigail.

"Oi!" Abigail uttered sternly. Camellia nervously choked on her words before slowly glancing down to see Abigail staring up at her. Camellia awkwardly chuckled while adverting her gaze.

"Why'd you stop?" Abigail asked, catching Camellia off guard. Camellia closely tightened her bear hug again, and Abigail smugly grinned while contently relaxing in Camellia's arms. Solus cleared his throat and called out to Abigail.

"How come you didn't show up a few days ago when Kusana and Lola did?" Solus asked while Nebula and Tsarina let go of his hands and walked over to the store window the group was in front of.

"Well, you know how it is; Miss Maya ended up making a few detours because my mum kept asking her to buy some souvenirs for her while she brought me here," Abigail said cheekily.

"I see... So... where is Maya?" Solus asked.

"She got one of those royal calls from my mum, so she had to drop me off as close as she could to your house before she skedaddled back to Neo Light City in the Republic," Abigail stated. Camellia raised an eyebrow before she slightly raised Abigail.

"Wait... if she dropped you off... wouldn't you have some luggage with you?" Camellia asked.

"Yeah? My mannequin spirit's carrying them," Abigail said.

"Your spirit?" Camellia asked while looking around. Camellia glanced upwards and saw the large little girl mannequin made of dark violet mana with a large cloak, sharp hook-like fingers and blacksmith goggles all made of the same mana hovering over the group while carrying a suitcase in each of its four arms.

"That's... a lot of arms," Camellia remarked.

"She can have up to six most. Oh, and you can call her Forge," Abigail said smugly.

"Forge?" Camellia asked.

"She calls her that because the spirit is created from her azure ability of the same name," Solus stated while Forge floated above Solus and rested her chin on Solus' head before creating two more arms and massaged Solus' face as her goggles morphed into a nurse's hat.

"So... is Forge an actual spirit or a fake one?" Camellia asked.

"That's why I asked Mum to put me in Velkenfall Academy so I could learn how to be a spirit wielder to try and make a spirit pact with Forge~," Abigail proclaimed smugly.

"Smart. Wait?" Camellia remarked before immediately realising something was off.

"But Velkenfall Academy has a minimum age limit of thirteen years of age to attend. You look like you're eleven," Camellia remarked as she helped out Abigail in front and looked at her face.

"Impressive you knew my exact age; but to answer your question, I'm pretty smart, and I've skipped through a few school grades, otherwise my mum wouldn't have let me go to Velkenfall Academy," Abigail explained while Forge continued to massage Solus' face. Abigail noticed what Forge was doing to Solus, and she slightly blushed before waving her hand to get Forge's attention.

Forge begrudgingly let go of Solus, and her nurse hat reverted back to her blacksmith goggles before she floated over to Abigail. Abigail sent a text on her phone before she placed it in one of her kitsune tails.

"Could you send my stuff to Solus' house? I just sent a text to Mr Luminous, so he'll be outside in a minute to catch them," Abigail stated. Forge nodded before she turned to face the small hill on which the shrine and Solus' house were located on. Forge pulled her arms back, coated each of the suitcases in her hands in dark violet mana, and hurled them over her head like a catapult.

The mana spheres soared through the air, and Camellia watched the spheres while covering her eyes from the sun with a single hand. Eventually, the mana spheres were too far to be seen, and after a few seconds Abigail received a text from Luminous confirming he received her luggage.

"You ready to go now?" Solus asked. Abigail nodded before Lumina and Camellia (still carrying Abigail in her arms) walked off.

"Sol-Kun, look," Nebula said as she pointed at the window. Solus glanced over at the window and saw the book the duo were staring at; the book was called The Wonders of Macarons: A Cooking Book Vol.2.

"Oh, so they made a continuation...," Solus remarked. Solus looked down to see Nebula and Tsarina staring at him with puppy dog eyes. Solus sighed and handed Nebula some orange, red, and silver Shin coins to Nebula (Shin Coins are thin silver coins with a large S on them with a dragon head and hydra head on the ends of the S and coloured rings to distinguish their value).

"Thanks, Sol-Kun," Nebula said excitedly before she and Tsarina walked into the bookstore.
