Chapter 14: Beginning of The First Day

Solus strolled down a sidewalk with a small river for river buses on one side and a tall stone brick wall on the other. Nebula and Tsarina happily walked behind Zalroth while reading the contents of the book they bought. Solus mentally sighed from exhaustion before noticing people around his age wearing the same uniform as him walking past him.

"Hey, you two mind holding off on reading so you don't bump into someone?" Solus asked, causing the spirits to look up from their book; however, instead of simply not reading anymore, the duo jumped on top of Solus' backpack and continued to read their book.

"That works, I guess," Solus muttered begrudgingly. Solus walked in front of the archway in the stone brick before walking through it. Solus stopped after taking a few steps through the archway and looked around at his surroundings. Within the estate confined by the tall stone brick wall stood a large japanese-temple-themed castle known as Velkenfall Academy.

Solus overheard some students muttering about whether they should try doing the spirit wielder course or just stick with their original choice. Another student said the two of them were better off going with the spirit weapon blacksmith given their low stamina; the other student remarked the aptitude test for spirit wielders was ridiculously high.

Solus continued to glance at the students before Nebula and rested the back of her head against Solus while she read her book with Tsarina. Solus smirked to himself before continuing to walk.

"Nah, I've got nothing to worry about with Nebi by my side," Solus joked mentally as he walked through Velkenfall Academy's courtyard. Solus spotted Lumina, Abigail and Camellia chatting ahead of him. Lumina snarkily scoffed when Solus stopped next to her and Camellia.

"Took you long enough what could've-".

"Nebi and Tsarina spotted the second volume of that book you bought for my last birthday in the bookstore where we ran into Abigail," Solus said before Lumina could finish her sentence.

"Oh... makes sense," Lumina uttered calmly.

"Well, anyway, I'm heading off to find out where the spirit blacksmith classes are held," Lumina stated snarkily, which surprised Camellia.

"You don't plan on trying to become a spirit wielder?" Camellia asked.

"Given my complete ineptitude and inability to even form a spirit pact, why would I bother?". Lumina's comment only confused Camellia even further.

"Huh... but I thought Tsarina was your... she even has a-". Camellia was cut off by Lumina shaking her head.

"No... she isn't she's only interested in being-". Lumina halted her speech before glancing up at Tsarina and noticing the spirit pact mark on Tsarina's left hand.

"SoOooOoo~ you finally relented have you?" Lumina said cheekily while a smug grin grew on her face.

"SooOoooOoo, you finally noticed I did it have you?" Solus retorted with a snarky tone equal to how cheeky Lumina's remark was. Lumina smugly scoffed before she walked off while stating to Solus he and Camellia better get in the top place in the examination test. Abigail gave Camellia and Solus a bow before she hurried off after Lumina

"Isn't she asking for a lot... from me anyway?" Camellia asked shyly. Solus shook his head while Nebula and Tsarina were still engrossed in their book.

"I doubt that; from what I've seen, you're absolutely capable of meeting Lumina's expectations," Solus stated calmly. Camellia smirked before she morphed it into a grin.

"Yeah, I guess I shouldn't be worried if you both think I can... heh," Camellia uttered before she and Solus heard a supervisor calling out from anyone who wished to attend the spirit wielder course needed to gather in the eastside hall. The supervisor pointed to the large open door on the east side of the courtyard.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"Guess that's for us, meow," Metsu murmured with a soothing voice while licking the back of her hand. Tsarina glanced backwards and looked at Metsu before quickly looking back at the cooking book.

"She can talk?" Tsarina whispered to Nebula.

"Sometimes...," Nebula replied quietly before she and Tsarina noticed Camellia had fallen asleep while continuing to remain standing. Metsu quickly covered her mouth while sighing.

"And that's why I prefer not to, meow," Metsu uttered muffledly. Solus raised a hand to Camellia's face and repeatedly snapped his fingers until Camellia woke up.

"Damnit, I missed the chance to hear Metsu speak again!" Camellia whined as she crossed her arms disapointedly. Solus crossed his arms as well and glanced towards the east courtyard door.

"Shall we get going?" Solus asked, to the disappointed Camellia. Camellia sighed before the duo made their way to the eastside hall.

The duo walked into a large school hall and saw the surprisingly empty school hall with only 18 other students.

"Geez... I thought the people in the courtyard were being over dramatic when they said the spirit wielder exam had a high skill ceiling," Camellia remarked jokingly in a playful manner.

"Yeah... there's barely enough people here to allow the course to be held," Solus remarked. The duo walked towards the other eighteen students standing near a single-cylinder podium with a clear opaque diamond-hexagonal crystal sphere. The other students noticed Solus and Camellia approaching, and they all sighed in relief.

"One cannot believe we almost wouldn't be able to attend this course," a confident sound voice uttered from within the crowd, and hearing the voice made Solus sigh; the owner of the voice made their way through the other students before emerging from them and revealing the voice's owner to be Kara Raiden, with a small six eyes silver-scaled dragon baby sleeping on her head. (Kara is a Half angel-half mothion [four large twenty-feet-long fuzzy lavender moth wings, her entire body is covered in fuzzy pale lavender fur [including hands, feet and face]; she has fuzzy black insect antennas, ankle-long pale lavender hair, and deep Lavender compound moth eyes])(the only piece of school uniform she's wearing is the academy's scarf)

"And to think one would see you here, son of the friend of my father," Kara remarked while pointing at Solus. Solus sighed while Nebula waved at Kara, and the other students muttered amongst themselves.

"Can't you ever refer to people normally, and for the last time, I'm not the son of the guy you're thinking of," Solus retorted, causing Kara to tilt her head at him. While Kara was confused, Camellia took her chance to whisper something to Solus.

"That girl looks and acts just like the princess of the Shogunate Commission," Camellia whispered, causing Solus to groan.

"That would be because she is, you goof, meow," Metsu murmured while she covered her mouth to muffle her voice.

"Oh... ... good thing I managed to hold myself back from hugging her," Camellia remarked nervously. Camellia's nervousness only intensified as Kara stared up at her.

"One shall allow it," Kara said while raising her hands to Camellia. Camellia glanced over at Solus before she picked up Kara, and indulged in hugging her. Some of the students muttered about various things ranging from Kara who seemed close to Solus while the others wondered when the instructor for the spirit wielder course would arrive.

"Now... Solus, one wasn't referring to Lola's father... but one was referring to-.". Kara was in the middle of speaking when she covered her mouth to stop talking, catching Solus and Camellia off guard.

"You don't need to stop your conversation just because I arrived, Fluffball," a smug-sounding adult male voice. All the students looked over in the direction of the voice, and everyone, aside from Solus and Kara, was on edge as, Kara's father, Sovereign Raiden approached the group of students. (Sovereign was a pale white-skinned angel [two large pale lavender feathered angel wings with pale red tips] with the appearance of a young adult male; he had long pale lavender hair tied behind his head in a braided ponytail styled like ones seen on samurai, pale white left eye and pale red right eye with an open book-shaped pupil)(He's wearing a Japanese-themed plated vambraces on both his forearms, a plain skin-tight deep dark blue jumpsuit, dawnite-threaded cargo trousers held up by a pale lavender and pale red Tasuki with three pairs of large ribbon-like ties behind him, dawnite boots, and a black silk scarf

The students were in a frozen state caused by a mix of shock and awe at the ruler of the continent standing right in front of them. One of the students joked it's not too much of a stretch Sovereign would be at the academy given Kara was here.

"There's no need to be so shellshocked you lot especially given I'll be your tutor and instructor for the spirit wielder course," Sovereign stated, and, before the group students could be left in an even greater shock, Sovereign slammed his hands together to snap all the students into a clear mind.

"Now, shall we begin with the examination?" Sovereign asked with a demanding and rhetorical tone.
