In the cafeteria, Nini giddily nibbled on a loaf of fluffy swish roll, lying back in her chair and basking in the sensation brought upon by eating the swish roll. Nini continued to mindlessly indulge in her enjoyment of her many swish rolls as Ano, Moxiloph, and Beth sat at the table enjoying more conventional/well-balanced lunches with Beth having a packed lunch.
"Come on, Fifi, if we don't hurry we're going to miss our chance to get any of the swish rolls!" an energetic teen announced (a redhead female fair-skinned demi-human with cat ears and tail) as she had a kid spirit (a humanoid female child with long glowing silver hair, glowing purple eyes, and dark grey skin) piggybacking on her shoulders. Teen sprinted past Nini and co as an emo-looking female teen slowly trailed behind the energetic one (the emo teen is a night elf with pointy ears; she has long ruby hair, wears a bandana over her eyes, and has light skin).
"Yeah-yeah, you said that for the twentieth time since the second period finished," the emo girl uttered as she walked past Nini's group's table. Moxiloph groaned before she placed her elbow on the table and rested her chin on her palm as she stared at Nini.
"Gotta say... that was a pretty poor showing," Moxiloph remarked with a brasian and bashful tone. Nini briefly choked on the piece of swish roll she had eaten prior to Moxiloph making her remark, but she managed to swallow it before her face turned to a minor shade of blue.
"I know... and the only thing that makes it worse is-," Nini murmured before resting her head on the table.
"Is that Sakamoto carried you here before immediately leaving once you recovered?" Beth asked as she sturred her fruity smoothies with a straw. Nini raised her head with her chin firmly pressed against the table and looked at Beth.
"That too, but I'm talking about how me challenging him was completely unnecessary since I overlooked the academy changed the policies, and now classes are supposed to have a male and female representative," Nini said as she closed her eyes and groaned, making Ano lightly chuckle as he closed his faintly crumbled book.
"That was a fairly minor oversight on all of our parts... though the members of the Raiden family didn't seem to want to clear up that misunderstanding, now did they?" Ano remarked as he glanced over at Kara as she, Abigail, and Lumina asked for ice cream only to be told by the cafeteria staff that the ice cream machine was broken.
"How?" Kara asked perplexedly.
"Beats me; it was broken since the end of last year, and the replacement hasn't arrived," the staff member explained, leaving the trio disheartened and defeatedly asking for ice pops.
Meanwhile, Solus strolled through one of the many courtyards of Velkenfall Academy while Nebula, Tsarina, and Zu took in the surroundings for Solus. Nebula tapped Solus on the shoulder to get his attention before pointing at the large red crystalline fountain with mini statues at the top, depicting six individuals and many other mini statues around the border of the fountain.
Solus strolled over to the fountain, and the group took a closer look at the six people depicted in the statues at the top of the fountain: a tall eight-tailed female humanoid kitsune made of green crystals, a short adult elf with eight armed[two in normal place and the other six on its back] made of teal/cyan crystals, a slightly short adult female sharkling[a humanoid with sharp shark teeth and a shark tail] made of pink crystals, a short adult elf made of red crystals with a snow-like texture, an adult humanoid demon[which has four large hook-shaped horns, and four thin white tails with heart, spade, club, and diamond-shaped end respectivly] made of yellow crystals, and an adult alkorian with horns all around its head in the shape of a crown made of purple crystals.
Solus patiently gazed at the group of statues, with his main focus being the short elf made of red crystals, and demon made of yellow crystals. Solus amusedly exhaled from his nose and looked away from the fountain, causing Nebula to glance at him.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
"Something funny?".
"Nah, just remembered something Mother said," Solus remarked as he placed a hand on his chin and smugly grinned.
"Was it the thing about never leaving a pickle jar open; otherwise, you'll be left in a pickle?" Nebula asked, making Solus release his hand from his chin.
"No... the other thing.".
"The one about Immodays?". Solus shook his head, and Nebula lowered her head in defeat as she couldn't remember any other things Solus' mother said.
"It's the one about puzzles," Solus stated as he head patted Nebula.
"And how everything has its place, or how she always seems to lose one of the pieces every time she tries to solve one?" Nebula said, which only made Solus chuckle once again.
"Are you for real they ran away!?" a female voice on the other side of the fountain asked. Solus raised an ear at the female voice. Solus tilted his head to the side and saw a super short demi-human squirrel/hedgehog teen girl in the school uniform surrounded by a crowd of female students. (the super short teen has elbow-low golden chestnut hair with neon green gradient ends which is tied at the spot between the two colours using a black and white striped rope with a green metal bell attached to it, neon green eyes with normal golden-coloured pupils, thin fuzzy medium reddish brown fur all over her body with reddish brown lines on the back of her arms and legs, and reddish brown cheeks, and large squirrel ears and a large tail with a large reddish brown stripe on it which both match her hair colour)
"Yeah, I was honestly surprised how little the person tried to stop the spirit from running away," the squirrel/hedgehog teen smugly said as she stood on the fountain's border. Solus considered speaking as he furrowed his brow but held his tongue when crystalline snowflakes formed in the air. The snowflakes chimed a musical tune, signalling the end of the morning break period and making the crowd of students disperse, leaving the squirrel/hedgehog girl by herself with her arm awkwardly raised.
"Wait... I didn't say what either of them looked like...," the teen murmured before she raised her fists and gently punched the sides of her head.
"Erinabeth, you dummy why'd you get so sidetracked again...," Erinabeth uttered as she noggied the side of her head.
"So you know something about the lone spirit wandering around town, cous?" Solus asked as he walked in front of Erinabeth. Erinabeth threw her head down and remained silent; however, her body was coated in a veil of telekinetic energy and was raised off the ground by Solus using telekinesis. Erinabeth defeatedly huffed, making her body slump like a deflated balloon, and she raised her head until she was face to face with Solus.
"Maybe... maybe not...," Erinabeth stuttered out while adverting her gaze from Solus as a faint blush formed on her face, "...you're way too close.". Solus rolled his eyes and lowered Erinabeth to the ground before she brushed her clothes to straighten them out.
"Now, about the spirit you saw," Solus asked as he crossed his arms. Erinabeth slowly arched her head up, puffing up cheeks as she watched Solus' pupils occasionally narrow then unnarrow. A single sweat drop ran down Erinabeth's face as Solus chillingly glared at her. Nebula grabbed Solus' head, making Solus fully open his eyes before Nebula frantically shook Solus' head.
"No murder mode!" Nebula proclaimed as she continued shaking Solus' head before slowing down the shaking and releasing a dazed Solus' head. Erinabeth let out a relieved breath as Solus regained his senses.
"For now, I'm only going to tell you where I last saw the spirit and what she looked like, okay?" Erinabeth said with a forced bratty tone.
"Is that because you forgot what the spirit wielder looked like?" Solus asked snarkily. Erinabeth flinched and nervously looked to the fountain.
"Maybe... but that can wait for a bit; I'm going to be late for class," Erinabeth shouted sporadically before she sprinted past Solus and through the nearest open door.
"Woah... you were almost as scary as Mr Luminous there, Solus," Tsarina remarked, making Solus roll his eyes before he followed the floating crystal snowflake cluster dancing in front of him. As Solus walked away from the fountain plaza, a ten-tailed dark blue-furred kitsune cub with radiant cyan tail/fur end, which all have a faint crystalline effect sat on the head of the elf statue made of teal crystals. The cub opened his glowing azure blue eyes with void black scleras, and with one glance at his surroundings, he let out a heavy sign.
"It appears one has appeared in the wrong location; no matter," the cub uttered as space contorted around it and it warped to the ground before it trotted on its way to find an exit to the academy.
