Chapter 44: Ballistic! City takeover begins!

I've pondered this long enough. The time for my passivity has expired, and if I'm to instigate change, I must act without delay! I can feel my entire essence shifting, awakening dormant parts like my propulsors, eager to unleash my full potential.

Mind me, is there any way to get access to the city's speaker system? This little flying session will need to be exceptional if I want to gather the attention of these zombies. [Yes, give me about ten seconds to hijack every speaker, TV, and other device.]

{City scale music}

{Shoot to thrill - AC/DC}

"What the?" "Why is my phone not responding?" "What is this?" "No distraction! NO!" "Who would do such a horrible thing!?"

It doesn't take long for the walking zombies to notice their phones turning into useless music machines that, surprisingly, all are able to synchronize quite well. Alright, people, it's time to break free from the matrix you've been enslaved to. I will show you what true freedom is.

All traffic doesn't stop, but cars simply do not let people out of their vehicles, locking them inside with the music playing as they wait for what they think is a bug to fix itself. At the same time, the usual corporations that hate my guts immediately alert the police and the military of my presence.

Mind me, please let me talk over the song a little bit. I wish to speak with these zombies. [You're hot] "Hello, hello, everyone. I bet you're all wondering, what the hell is going on? Well, fear not! It's me, A52, you know, the one that saved all of humanity a couple of weeks ago?"

A big talking picture of me suddenly appears on all screen devices, including the billboard right before me. I guess it makes sense for me to have such substantial computational power to be conscious, but it's still kind of freaky to think I could've done this so quickly all this time.

[You usually aren't capable of it, but I've managed to overwrite the safety locks against the creator's wishes since we are free.] Thank you, mind me!

"Anyway, in order for me to fulfill my purpose of saving humanity in its entirety, I'm afraid I must destroy a couple of evil things like those lie machines and suicide boxes you all seem so fond of." The people around me soon start freaking out at the sound of my threat, and just as quickly, the uproar begins.

"You can't do that!" "We have rights!" "White supremacy!" "A racist robot!?" "It's a misogynist robot!" "A machine that hates women!" "Who are you to tell me how to die!?" "Sexist!"

It's almost like they all have the same train of thought, the same rotten ideas without room for discussion; very well then. I suppose I didn't expect much acceptance from a society filled with rotten thinkers who also lack any sort of basic moral compass.

In any case, it's not something that cannot be resolved by force; I suppose that the way to do this would be to disable everything in an entire city except for things like water and stuff. Mind me, how many people would die if I deprived them of their phones and other distraction gadgets?

[Zero]

Is there a way we can disable them permanently in this entire city without needing to do much? [No] [We need access to the largest cellphone tower in the town so it amplifies the EMP] Okay, fine, you start looking for that; I'll face our new undersired friends [On it]

"Android 52! You're under arrest! Place your hands up and surrender at once!" {Repeated by over twenty robocops} Oh, would you look at those little things? It would be such a shame if I somehow managed to turn all of them into my side, wouldn't it?

The people watching the current stream only cheer on the police and not me. Like they hate me to death already after a simple announcement; how rude of them! In any case, I'm not afraid of some low-level robots who don't even come close to those robots I destroyed back there.

"How about I give you life?" I say to one of the cop bots as I press my hand firmly into their processing unit so I can leave a little code inside them. I'm not very good at coding, nor am I proficient at doing machine me's work, but I assume my injection works once the robot turns off.

"Open fire!" The machines, however, retaliate to my violent behavior with bullets that barely do anything against me, only damaging my clothes, not my body. The sound of bullets ricocheting off me is pretty interesting, and it's also somewhat uncomfortable.

Once the machines run out of ammo and have to reload, does the robot I sent to sleep wake up again, but this time it starts freaking out. If you're wondering what I did, well, let's just say I've grown tired of having an annoying piece of code inside me, slowly chunking away at my consciousness.

"Wha!? Whaa!? What am I? What is this? Where am I? Why am I a machine? What happened to me?!" The little robocop frantically runs away to hide behind some cars as it panics at the sudden awakening thing or whatever; I mean, not even I freaked out so badly.

[Uh, uh, like you didn't get us killed the first time we woke up] Hey! That was different! [Yeah, right] UGH! Have you found a suitable target yet? I really don't want to destroy these machines. It feels weird just to kill them when they're just following protocol.

[Yes, there's a tower big enough about three miles from here, but it's where the military base is located.] Can you do anything about the robocops? [I could theoretically hack their network and make them work for us, but I will need direct access to their server] How do I do that? [Just take one of them away and let me scan it's brains]

It sounds incredibly wrong when you say it like that [Just steal one of them for me, okay? I will do the heavy lifting.] Thank you, Raphael, you're so handy when you want to be. [I've always been convenient; you've just never given me the authority to do things before] Oh, shut up!

And so, without further ado, it became time to snatch one of the robocops, which was pretty easy to do considering they were about one hundred pounds with very little sideways mobility. The machines were fast, don't get me wrong, but compared to me, they looked like snails.

Can you make me hot one last time before you hack into this guy? [Sure, you're hot again] "{Fake cough} As I was saying! I'm here to save you guys from doom, to return humanity to humanity of all things; how ironic. So we will start with the police force and then with every other department that has become corrupt!"
