Chapter 43: This world lacks order

Chapter 43: This world lacks order

Do you know what this world lacks? Because I think I do, it's the lack of drive. There's not really anything going on in this world. Nobody seems to live any sort of ambition as if everyone already knows they will never become the next multi-billionaire.

The world is so uninteresting this way, the heaven that people from past generations are before me, and it's dreadful in my eyes. It's been merely a week since I returned to society, and I already feel the need for change. I don't understand half of the reasoning behind many of the things humans crave nowadays, and I feel confused.

Take a look at this 'suicide box.' It's not implicitly called an end-yourself box or anything like that, but it's basically what it is. For a fee, people can just walk in those boxes to end their lives without any remorse or feeling of duty left behind them. They just end it, and nobody thinks this is wrong.

I may be biased because I love clinging to life even if it places me in danger. I simply cannot fathom people just wanting to finish themselves, and at the same time, there's someone out there making bank out of human suffering. It's evil on many levels.

It's quite a dreadful life for people living out here in the real world, where corporations basically run everything and money is the only driver of things. Drug stores now sell an extensive range of hard drugs that were previously banned, but people don't seem happier with this.

If anything, the people buying these legal drugs seem to be living the most miserable lives of anyone out here. The police is basically a powerless entity of people and machines that don't really do much anymore other than deactivate some people's chips, which is another scary thing.

How did society ever get to this level of evil and restriction of freedom? I don't understand it. From the software I was born, I simply cannot reason with the current state of affairs. It feels like a surreal world where I do not belong; these people are wicked.

Crime is a regular everyday occurrence for everyone in the city, and it's something people get told is necessary for 'equity,' but I do not see the reasoning behind this logic. Aren't the people saying crime should be routine, wrong, and putrid?

Behind the glass of my better judgment, it does not make sense why these things seem like a good idea; how twisted has it gotten? [It's the work of centuries of human decay] What does that mean, computer me?

[Humanity has lost the meaning of education and overall morality; it appears like humans tried to reinvent moral values without the need of a god trying to replace a fictional god with themselves, which seems to have failed]

Isn't that why many other human settlements have fallen? The human drive to become gods? [Yes] Why, then, hasn't this world fallen apart? [Because in order for those civilizations to fall, there would be one country or people left to challenge that view, which is why it doesn't happen here; there's no one left who can challenge this deranged human lifeform.]

What happened to all world religions? Where are the people who are supposed to challenge these views? [They've been reduced to less than 1% of the population. There's not enough of them to make any difference] So it all falls back on me, then?

[Yes, it appears as though whoever made us intentionally gave us this strange sense of justice and deep thought]

Uhm, isn't my creator that girl Toshiba? [Yes] Why would she make me with this sense of self-awareness and moral compass? Could it be that she is also the same way as me? Could it be that Toshiba actually wanted to tell me something with this conflicting information?

[It's very likely]

I mean, from one perspective, Toshiba struck me as a very rude, mean scientist who only wanted to cause me harm, but since she partially created me and I see conflict with the world's moral view, could it be that she also feels like I do? Could it be that Toshiba knows more than I thought?

From what I've seen so far, people can be turned into living zombies forced to work or do things they don't want to. Perhaps this is what is going on with my creator. Why else would they make me this way if it's the apparent opposite of them?

[A cry for help]

Could it be? Could my only hope for a route to fixing this world really be through Toshiba? I need to find a way to deactivate those damn brain chips if so. It would be useless to try to meet her while she is possibly under the control of her father.
