The Mask delivered to me
The Highgate Cemetery

The Highgate Cemetery

[Red's POV]

It has been a couple of days since I left Mundi magicae, investigating the vampires for clues. So far... It has not been great.

I have been tracking them with the help of the skill [Bloodlust], but it hasn't been exactly accurate in terms of tracking the target I wanted. There were a couple of wrong targets I found so far, like gangsters, murderers, robbers, animals and etc. I ended up apprehending the criminals up before continuing my search again. I'm essentially doing the polices job but not paid. A vigilante. I could feel the inner batman in me crawling out from my brain.

Though I am doing manual labour for free, I did end up receiving benefits from this. The constant usage of the skill actually allowed me to level up my skill.

[Killer Instinct] Lv. 6 --> 7

*With the constant usage of bloodlust detection, you are now able to differentiate different types of beings when detecting bloodlust.

Bloodlust can be activated voluntarily. Able to sense bloodlust with a radius of 1 km. *

Although the range was not long, I managed to find a few of them in the busy streets of London.

However, whenever they were captured, they chose to forfeit their own life rather than revealing any more clues that would help.

I have been able to save most of the civilians so far... minus the one I did not manage to arrive in time...

Though it was something that couldn't be controlled, part of me felt that if only I arrived a little earlier, would things have been different? The thought of the lady mutilated and played around haunts my mind as it continues to fuel the hatred I have for these blood sucking bastards.

In the end, there was no use thinking about it any further, I can only move forward for now. As night fell, I scouted around for anything that might help. The notification I was waiting for finally came.

[Bloodlust Detected: Last seen]

989m ahead.

At the top of my vision was a screen that depicts a number that drops the closer I am to the target. The number would then increase if I had strayed away from the path to the target.

Running through the streets, the numbers continued to drop at a faster rate.

[Traces if Bloodlust found in these areas]

I'm here.

Standing up, I looked up and watched as the name of the place was written on the building itself.

"London Cemetery."

'Looks like this is the place.'

[Be on

[*I'll watch your back for you master.*]

The cemetery was a lot larger than the ones I have seen back home. Small huts and buildings that house the dead while more tombstones lie outside in the open. Following the trial was a path that led to more of these small buildings and churches that houses all the dead. It was rather remarkable how different the cemetery here looks compared to the ones back at home.

As I walked through the entrance and passed by the long open area, there were many different paths ahead, all leading to another direction. There was no way in hell, I'm going to walk through all of these trails myself.

'Summon, White and Silver.'

Both of them appear as they started surrounding me happily. White started slitherling around my body up to my neck. Seems like she got bigger and heavier. Silver, on the other hand, started flying around my head and playing with my hair and resting his body on my head. His wings got bigger, but other than that, he looks the same. It was rather chaotic, but I do miss them since either haven't seen them for a while.

"Spread out and find me anything that doesn't seem human."

Upon listening to my instruction, the 2 of them left immediately while the middle trail was left for me to explore along.

Moving along the path, it was rather creepy. There were multiple statues of angels around, and the tomb that houses the dead were everywhere.

There were no signs of life despite having there being a forest here.

Not a single sight of birds nor insects can be seen.

It was like a living thing repellent here.

As I continued my path, the notification screen suddenly shot up to my face.

[Bloodlust Detected]

I immediately sprung into action, defending myself.

Equipped: Fang

*Greatsword form*

Holding the greatsword over my head, something came crashing against Fang's blade as it left a small vibration on the weapon itself that caused my entire hand to be numb due to the impact shock.

"GRKKKHH!!"

With my hands placed in the middle of the blade, I switched my stance and, with the help of my legs, lifting up and slashing the sword upwards.

"Oh, so close."

"How did one of the livestock got here?"

"Whatever, he looks fresh. Let's get him."

Scanning the surroundings, I was able to make out 2 figures that were hiding out of sight, plus one that started the attacks on my blade.

The female vampire landed gently on the ground while showing a wide grin in her face.

"Show me more, boy."

In the corner, one of the other vampires shouted:

"Hey, don't play with your food. We gotta meet the rest soon."

The rest? Looks like I hit the jackpot this time.

"Fine, I got it, I got i___"

Before the lady vampire could finish her sentence, I slashed with Fang in long sword form, slicing off the head of the lady vampire as her eyes locked in with mine, shocked at what just happened.

The lady vampire immediately turns to ash as her comrades stare with their mouth wide open at the sight of their friend who was killed.

"H.. HE'S A MAGE! GET HIM!!"

Appearing from one of the trees, the male vampire swoops down, slashing me with claws and attempting to bite my shoulder.

Shifting my foot to the side, just barely avoiding the bite, I placed my palm on his body.

[Helix Sphere]

Single Target Spell.

Gathers mana in the palm of your hand and gathers the wind, forming a sphere with the air current circulating around in helix shape. As the wind circulates faster within the sphere, the sphere will be tougher.

Upon having direct contact with the sphere, the violent currents of the wind will be unleashed, rampaging everything in its path.

Mana Requirement: 6th Magic Circle

Mana Consumption: Moderately High

Wow, I'm pretty proud of Zenith. To be able to execute this spell repeatedly just to be meat when you are only a Green-robed mage is really impressive.

Let's see what kind of damage a 6th Magic-Circle mage can inflict.

I immediately placed the sphere on the stomach of the male vampire. Nothing happened as he and I stared at each other, waiting for a reaction from the other party.

Slowly, his expression changed as something was still spinning. Looking down, the helix sphere was spiralling at such a rapid speed that it started ripping and tearing the vampire's body. Releasing the spell away from my hand, the sphere continued spinning, sending the vampire flying upwards as it exploded in midair, turning the vampire to dust.

The last vampire who saw what happened stood on her ground, shivering.

"Y... you killed them all... YOU MONSTER!"

She said as she charged towards me with the exact same pattern, these times holding 2 daggers on her arms. She threw one of the daggers straight for me in process. Parrying the dagger away, I aimed my sword to find her nowhere insight, just for my notification to appear.

[Bloodlust Detected]

Bowing straight forward, her dagger sliced past me as I changed Fang into a dagger and sliced it horizontally from the back, slashing her achilles tendon.

The last vampire dropped on the ground as I immediately turned my body and kicked her in the stomach with full force, which smashed her ribcage and send her flying to one of the tombstone, destroying it in the process.

The vampire grabs her stomach to support herself while she stares straight at my face. But because I'm wearing a mask, there was no expression to show her. To her, I'm probably an assassin or some sort of vampire hunter.

She grits her teeth in anguish as she kneels down and starts concentrating in her breathing.

Looks like some of the bruises the other wounds were starting to heal. She laughs as she lifts her head up arrogantly, "You filthy livestock. I don't know how you were able to kill the others, but compared to you humans, we have accelerated healing that can instantly heal any wounds."

She smiled and laughed wickedly as she stood up, only to be dropped against the ground again.

"W... What did you do to my le...legs? Why can't I muster any strength in them? They should have healed."

I walked slowly towards the last vampire as she started dragging her body away from me, with fear in her eyes.

"S... Stay away!! I tell you, stay AWAY!!! MY MASTER WILL HUNT YOU DOWN LIKE A DOG, UNLESS YOU SPARE ME, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO YOU, I GURANTEE ON MY LIFE. STAY AWAY."

I continued moving silently forward, stopping only when I was directly in front of her.

Appearing from my hand was Stix as I thrust the spear through her shoulder and pinned her to the ground.

"ARGGHRHFJHHHHH!!!!!!!!"

"I'm running out of patience. Where is your master."

The vampire groaned in pain as she opened her eyes , only for her iris to suddenly shrunk. Raising her hand, she struggles with all her might and points to the sky with her finger. Only to suddenly have her head exploded out of nowhere.

I immediately backed away and checked back at what she was looking at.

Flying in the middle of the cemetery was a vampire with a very different vibe from the ones I encountered before.

This one had the same feeling as the one I first encountered.

Seems like it's one of the vampire nobles. This means the one I have been fighting so far was a bunch of small fries.

The vampire noble continues to float in midair as he starts speaking.

"So this was the little rat that has given us so much trouble, huh?"

The vampire noble releases a heavy bloodlust upon me, which seems like a signal to draw out something.

Soon, a bunch of figures started to surround me as the notification from the screen started feeling up my visions with the words:

[Danger]

[Massive Bloodlust Detected everywhere.]

Soon surrounding me was just darkness hiding in the shadow with a vampire noble floating in front of me, smiling.

"Shall the feast began? Masked Awakener?"
