The Mask delivered to me
Magicae Festival - 5

Magicae Festival - 5

With the elimination of 3 teams in that short time, the crowd got even more restless as they stood and cheered even harder than before.

Team B had all the disadvantages stacked against them. with the alliance of the teams as well as spawning right in the middle of the map with nothing but only the castle wall as their shield. It was a hard situation, even for some of the higher rank mages. But they managed to survive the ordeal, and on top of that, no one was eliminated from the team.

"Looks like they started the party without us," Riri commented as the loud explosion was heard in the castle, echoing throughout the halls. Lying around Riri's team were a couple of bodies where their body starts to be covered in light, transporting them out of the venue.

"Be alert, another team arriving in 11," Trevor warned as he stood from a distance and started issuing hand signs.

Zenith and Riri immediately got his intention and got to their position as follows.

And sure enough, a team appeared in the room where Team A stood previously. The only difference is that they had no idea that there was anyone in this room.

The moment the last person from the team placed his foot in the room, Riri's trap was already activated.

[Trap magic: Pitfall]

The name is pretty self-explanatory. That team fell into the pitfall and got eliminated without any struggles.

"This generation... I swear, it takes things too lightly." Professor Jerome, one of the senior professors specializing in theory and combat studies, sighed while shaking his head.

"In the older days, a simple mistake like that would mean instant death for those caught, haha." Professor Harold, who specializes in Potion studies, added on.

"HHAHAHAH! The fact that it works amused me." Maeve, another one of the professors added on as well.

The battles between teams rage on as teams A and B spend no effort destroying anyone in their way.

Other teams excelled well in the survival round as well, stacking up and clearing away the weaker teams.

The student council teams were among those who did exceptionally well. With 2 teams filled with mages from the student council, no team dared to approach them due to their overwhelming difference in power and ability.

Within the two teams, one is led by the president and the other by the vice president. These two leaders are absolute monsters when it comes to controlling and using their magic, which granted them the right to be the school's authoritative figure.

Team C had the pleasure to encounter one of the teams, led by the vice president of the student council.

[Shirley's POV]

The luck we have. We just have to encounter one of the strongest teams in the competition.

Looking around, it was rather futile.

The moment we landed in the castle, the other team was already spotted within vincinty. Hiding wasn't an option, as the leader would simply just blast our hiding spot with her magic. So what can we do?

According to Mr. Jenkins, analysing who our opponent is the first thing we have to do

Eralia Winter. With her prominent dark blue hair, the vice president is known to be the fastest spell caster amongst the student mages, defeating her opponent before they could do anything. This earned her the nickname: The magic revolver.

Chell Rodney. The secretary of the student council. Said to possess a unique lineage of magic, she has the ability to move inanimate objects to her will. She mainly uses a teddy bear doll as her partner. No one has reportedly seen her use anything else other than that doll till this day.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

Domic Andos. The yellow robe representative. To be honest, not much is known about him, only that he does his job efficiently.

Seeing how Ava has the best offence to go up against the rest of them, it would be good to attack her straightaway. However, she hasn't fully recovered from the vampire incident yet. It would be hard for her to maintain in a battle for long.

So how do I ___

"SHIRLEY! MOVE!"

"Wha__

Renne rushed in front of me, immediately flicking her wand, casting [Magic Shield].

*THUD*

Something landed on the mana shield, causing the mana flow to clash, throwing me a few feet backwards.

"Oh. You managed to stop your leader in time. But, for how long."

Eralia stood forward and raised her right hand towards me, focusing all of her mana at the tip of the wand. Renne immediately knew the dangers the vice-president held and stood in front of me, launching layers of [Magic Shield] for all three of us. Not given a chance, Eralia fires her magic repeatedly, landing her attack on the exact same spot on the shield while Chell and Domic followed suit, launching their own attacks at the same spot, Eralia was launching.

Renne clenched her teethbas she forcefully tried to hold her shield together to defend her teammates. She desperate look in my direction, gave me an expression that even I could tell when we are not talking, "Now what?"

Ava appeared with a look of concern and looked at me as well.

"I'm fine Shirley, let me help." She said while displaying a face that was filled with determination.

"Hoooooo."

I started practicing the breathing exercises taught by the professor before slapping myself in the face so that I could calm down.

"OK. Can you hold her down for 3 minutes? I'm gonna position myself to use 'that'.

Ava nods her head before rushing off to join Renne to counterattack against the trio.

From there, I made my move, running all the way to the back as far from the two as possible.

Ahhh. It's slightly regrettable. I wanted to use this as a secret weapon against the monsters in our class. But it seems that we have no choice.

Cracks started forming around the magic shield as Renne continued to hold on. It was hard to control the pacing of the shield as she couldn't react to the shots Eralia casted, which ended up making the shield a lot weaker.

Ava appeared beside her, signalling her with the number 3 as she immediately withdrew her shield, letting Ava out.

[Firewall]

With a single stroke, a curtain of fire covers split both teams apart, blocking both the vision of both teams.

A teddy bear, however, ran through the firewall and landed near Renne, immediately attacking her while she was resting, only for it to be blocked by something transparent.

Another [Magic Shield], this time a lot smaller and compact.

Before it could retrieve its claw to land another shot, something smashed the bear on its right side, sending it flying back in the direction it came from.

[Wind Lash]

It was Ava's spell.

Ava took advantage of the firewall she created and started shooting a mass amount of spells through it, hoping that any of it would land on them.

A series of [Mana Bullet], [Ice Spear], and [Earth Bullet] were shot through the wall.

But none of them felt like it landed.

"Over here."

Looking up, Ava was caught off guard with Eralia floating above her smiling.

"How did__"

"Reverse Gravity. It's my turn now."

[Moonblast]

A silvery beam of pale light engulfed in the shape of a sphere, shining across the hallway similar to how the moon shines through the night. Until the spells end or the spell collides with an object, the pale light will continue to fill in the sphere. However, this spell requires high concentration from the caster to keep the spell running.

Anything the light touches would burn and cause searing pain to the living.

The higher the grade of the mage, the higher the damage. The size of the spell can be adjusted by higher rank mages.

Magic Requirement: 6th Magic Circle

Mana Consumption: High

"A 6th Magic Cirlce Spell?!" Irene stood up immediately, recognising the spell that was used.

"How did she have excess to such a high level spells when she didn't meet the requirements?"

The rest of the professors watched and kept quiet. No one knew what to say. In theory, the reason why high-ranking magic spells are ranked through the number of magic circles is because theoretically, only those with the sufficient amount of magic circles will be able to launch the spell safely or efficiently.

There are odd cases where lower ranked mages were able to use high-ranking spells, but these were rare cases, and usually meant that they have immense talent with mana. Right now, there was one standing in front of them now.

Ava cast her own mana shield to try and block the spells away. However, the moment the spell came in contact with the shield, it immediately shatters on contact and was heading straight for her.

Renne could not cast [Magic Shield] on Ava due to having to block attacks from the other members of the opponent's team.

It seemed that it was all over for Ava when 3 distinct sounds can be heard.

*Bang*

*Bang*

*Bang*

This was followed by a loud sound of explosion.

Ava slowly opened her eye to see what happened, just to be dragged along by Renne to run away.

"Let's go, Ava, we can't stay here!"

From the rubble emerged, the rubble around all started floating as Eralia tended to her teammates, making sure they were OK.

"What just happened..."

None of the screens managed to capture what happened. It was only through a rewind of the event that it was clear what happened.

Something shot at Eralia's arm as she lost focus and crashed. That wasn't all. Chell and Domics were shot along as they fell unconscious for a short while, stopping their attacks and allowing Renne to escape.

The shot was traced back to a certain figure.

Shirley was seen from the screen, holding something a little uncommon.

A rifle.

More precisely, a magic rifle.

"Hohhhh," one of the professors who specializes in magicraft engineering stood up in admiration while Rhea rest scratched their head in confusion about what she was holding.

On the other end, team B also encountered the Student Council team, but compared to team C, it was nearly at the end of the match where they caught each other.

With the final clash between Zenith and the student council treasurer, Vargas Emilio.

Zenith and Vargas have been what others called childhood friends since young, along with a girl named Emily. The 2 ultimately grew to have a crush on Emily and would compete with each other to win her affection.

However, due to Vargas ultimately having the talent to help him, no matter how much Zenith tried to catch up, he would always fail.

Because of this, Zenith would always isolate himself so that he could train to be stronger while Vargas got closer to Emily.

By the time Zenith came back from training to challenge Vargas, Vargas had already started dating Emily, leaving Zenith heartbroken and empty.

This sent him spiralling down the path of a delinquent where he would start causing trouble and fights whenever he feels like it. Until, Red came and smacked him senseless.

And now this was the first time they met face to face after 2 years.

As they were about to start throwing hands, the match then came to an end.
