The match concluded at such a spectacular time that shuts everyone's mouths immediately.
"2 minutes..."
It was an astounding record broken by a student, especially when dealing with a dangerous creature like the Cockatrice.
In recent years the festival, the fastest record for successfully retrieving the egg was about 7 minutes. Most of the contestants were busy trying to steal the objective from the monsters. This time, however, Team 1 instead chose to kill the beast to obtain it.
The last team who attended to finish the match early on by using the same method was 30 years ago.
With their objectives met, Team 1 showed proper etiquette by bowing to their audience before stepping off the stage. While at the corner of the stage, it was Team 2's turn.
Zenith: Can we beat their timing?
Trevor: Just listen to my command, and we'll be fine.
Riri: Aye Aye captain.
Desmond: ...
At the end of the tent, Jade was the only one feeling out of place when the rest of her team was strangely getting excited.
Did I choose the wrong team to join? Jade thought to herself while looking at her teammates. The monster that her team leader picked happened to be the wyvern. A reptilian who was also dubbed as the lesser dragon, that sometimes even Purple-ranked mages have difficulty with. Though she might have joined the festival on a whim so that she could gain valuable experience, it was certainly not stealing something valuable from deadly creatures.
The talons and fang of the wyvern were venomous. On top of that, it can breathe fire and will persistently chase its prey until it successfully kills and claims the carcass as its food
That wasn't the only reason why she was panicking. There were no plans from her teammates. They started getting motivated, but there was not a single plan or strategy for their match.
Shit, did I choose the wrong team?
With no other choice, she decided to initiate by speaking out first...
"Hey gu____"
*THINTKKKKKK*
[Next team, please standby.]
...only for their turn to start.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. Please welcome the second team!!! This time, the contestants will be facing a Wyvern, more accurately, a poisonous variant of its species."
As the announcement finished, the screen started showing an image of the beast inside.
In the middle was a dragon with 2 legs, with their wing acting as part of its feet. It had a green shiny scale followed by bright yellow eyes with its iris showing a deep jack black in an oval shape.
The crowd started gasping and cheering, seeing that such a rare species was used for the competition. It only made things more exciting when the Wyvern stood out and started roaring while guarding the egg.
'Now, how long will it take for this team to clear this stage? Without further ado, let's get it rolling."
*GONGGG*
The bell rang, and the entirety of team 2 was transported into the area that houses the beast.
The area this time was different compared to team 1. This time, it was a hill that houses an open field of flowers. There was nothing they could use as protection to hide or avoid the wyvern attack. It was one path.
Jade looked around, trying to see what she could do to even stay alive before someone had already shouted.
"Move out."
It was Trevor. The moment those worlds were thrown out, Zenith, Desmond, and Riri immediately bee-line straight for the wyvern.
"Wai___"
Jade tried warning them to be rash just because they were motivated. However, they were too quick. In less than 5 seconds, they had already reached the halfway mark between the wyvern and them previously.
Jade then took her wand to provide support, only to be stopped by Trevor with his hand blocking her path.
"I need you for a role, Miss Jade Chong."
Jade tried to protest as she thought the chances of them succeeding were gone due to their stupidity. She gripped her wand tighter in frustration and proceeded to clench her teeth together.
As she was about to swallow her anger, something dropped on the ground. It was big and blunt. Turning her head, she found what caused the noise.
It was the tail of the wyvern.
Blood from the wyvern begins to spew out as the creature roars in pain. Its cries shake the entire main stage, which, in some cases, stunning some of the audience.
"I need you to be ready now, Miss Chong," Trevor informed while still keeping an eye on the team while continuously strengthening them with strength enhancement magic.
Upon hearing her name, Jade snapped out of confusion and composed herself.
"Do you see the wings of the wyvern on the ground?"
Squinting her eyes, she stares at the ground, noticing the joint of the wings of the wyvern were placed on the ground for the beast's stability.
"Yes."
"Can you pin it down?"
Though the situation was chaotic and disarray, Jade found herself calming down upon hearing Trevor's voice. She knew what her role was in the team almost immediately.
"Yes."
"Do it," Trevor ordered while continuously chanting spells to buff his teammates.
Raising her wand above her head, Jade started her incantation with her target aiming at the ground. Magic circles shined in bright blue light as the circumference of the circle started growing bigger and bigger.
"Spirits of the frozen land, guide thy through the never-ending winter, for I shall freeze everything through you might."
[Ullrs's arrows]
Single or Multiple Target Spells
Summons single or multiple ice spears in the shape of an arrow. Once the arrow hits its target, the surroundings where the arrow hits will start to freeze, and Frostbite would spread throughout the body entirely.
A spell dedicated to the Ullrs. Though he was told to be the god of snow, there was no evidence supporting that he was a god.
Magic Requirement: 6th Magic Circle
Mana Consumption: Moderate
Two huge arrows-shaped ice shining in bright blue light emerged from the magic circle and was shot against the beast, successfully pinning it down against the ground.
As the wings of the wyvern were frozen, the frostbite started to spread across other parts of the wyvern's body
The only area that was left untouched was the head and standing in front of it was Desmond.
The difference between Desmond and the Wyvern was different by a huge margin. Desmond was a scrawny kid who would flinch even at the sight of a fly. This time, standing in front of the wyvern.
The wyvern felt fear for the first time. Against a weak-looking kid like that, it started to whimper.
As though it was looking for a way to plead for its life.
Desmond ignored the cries and raised his elbow before swiping it against the wyvern's neck, as though it was cutting something. In that motion alone, thunders and lightning struck where the wyvern was standing causing static errors on the screen from the main stage.
The screen was repaired and returned to the scene where the wyvern stood.
What was left at the end was the decapitated head of the wyvern along with the egg in the arms of Desmond Adhira as he smile awkwardly but cheerfully at the result.
[Match ended.]
[1min 36 seconds.]
The crowd went crazy over the result and the performance. The record for the fastest retriever of the egg was broken once again. Team 2 cheered loudly as they won against team 1. Zenith and Trevor started lifting Desmond and tossing him in the air in victory.
Irene stood up, dumbfounded at what her brother just accomplished.
Tears began filling up in her eyes as she muttered under her breath, "Finally... My brother is back." She smiled at the image of her brother's smile that was displayed on the screen.
