Chapter 39

Few days have passed since Samuel has returned from the IRI and Samuel has to go visit an acquaintance in Viridian City. Anya was curious if Persimmon have advanced in learning of the alphabets which was one of the reasons she decided to join Samuel after asking if it was okay to visit the café. Faesol coming along because she did not want to be left alone.

Anya herself didn't like to go out much as she wasn't a fan of the constant staring and pointing of fingers at her. The older more aggressive people were the worst, shouting profanities at her. From what she had heard from Samuel, more Pokémon were left outside wandering the streets before the war and during the war most Pokémon that wandered the streets were a brutal sight to see. Samuel had not said much about the was as it brought painful memories back, Anya didn't ask for more as she saw Samuel's hardened look.

The trip to Viridian was much faster than the last time as they went by foot as this time they strictly followed route 1 and they didn't stop to fight any Pokémon or trainer.

Arriving at the café where Anya had met Persimmon, She was surprised that the cat had soon given up on trying to learn and said he was content in his current situation, he still thanked Anya for trying to help him. Persimmon let Anya know that after she had left and he had tried to learn on his own, the owner of the café had a chat with Persimmon, where the owner said to him that he should not feel so inadequate as him just being there was enough for the owner.

The owner convinced Persimmon to do what he wants and not because he feels obliged to, which led to Persimmon to leave the studying out and focus more on hanging around the owner.

Anya was a bit disappointed that Persimmon's drive to learn was so fragile but she was still happy that Persimmon didn't feel so left out anymore.

Leaving the café behind, their next stop was the Pokémon Center, where they were given a single room.

"Sorry about this, I tried to get us two separate rooms. The Center doesn't like to give out extra rooms just for Pokémon" He said sheepishly.

Anya shook her head, it didn't really matter. She could just make a silk hammock to sleep in. Times like these she wished that a typewriter wouldn't be so incredibly bulky to carry around with or that the technology would be advanced enough to have small handheld computers.

The room was equipped with a single bed, a desk, a chair, small kitchenette and an extensive bathroom with a tub and a shower. Samuel took the first bath, followed soon after by Anya, Faesol still not fan of water groomed herself.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

While Anya bathed, Samuel was using the kichenette to make something to eat. When Anya left the bathroom, she wore a large towel wrapped around her. She had forgotten to take a change of clothes to the bathroom with her. She opened the door, noticed that both Samuel and Faesol were both gone and a plate of salad was left on the table.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After some time of idling Anya decided to take a short walk around. She was well aware that without a trainer accompanying her she would get a lot of unwarranted stares, but staying in the room with nothing to do was slowly driving her restless, she wished she had her sewing kit with her.

She left the room and started to explore the Pokémon Center, she found out that the 3rd floor and above were private rooms like the rooms she was just in. The second floor was a bit different, it had rooms which only had bunk beds and lockers inside. A communal bathrooms separated for boys and girls, same with the showers. There also was a day room of sorts were many trainers were talking, socializing and trading tips and rumors.

This was all new to Anya as she wandered through the floor, she got a few curious looks from the younger trainer. Next she skipped the main floor and went to the basement she saw the signs but didn't really understand what they meant as it was written in Kantonese and there were no symbols to decipher.

Opening the door Anya was greeted with a open space filled with many different types of workout equipment. A group of sweaty trainers and their Pokémon were doing their best to improve themselves, the spread of used equipment was quite even. Anya took note that most of the trainers training here were young adults.

The trainers ignored her going around the room, most likely used to have Pokémon wandering around and the other pokémon gave a polite nod of acknowledgment to her.

She soon left the workout room and headed back up to the ground floor where the main entrance was. The room was divided into three different parts where the middle one was the reception where a nurse joy was helping a person with their injured pokémon. On the right side was a small cafeteria and on the left there was small lobby with seats to wait for your pokémon to heal or otherwise lounge around.

"May I help you somehow?" Anya heard a nearby Chansey say to her.

"No thank you, I am just looking around and wasting time"

"Well, in that case, do you want to come with me for a moment? I could use a pair of cutters" the Chansey said happily. Anya not having anything better to do decided to follow her, they went through the door behind the counter, the nurse giving her a strange look.
