Chapter 34

Five days have passed since Samuel had left for his training. Anya has been extremely busy and progress has been very slowing some aspects.

Teaching Faesol to read:

Faesol is currently capable of reading all of the Latin alphabet that Anya had made, and had introduced the lower captioned versions to her. The Unown script has still been causing headache as Faesol has learned a single letter per day, making up the total of six letters A E I O U Y. All vowels for some unknown reason.

Tailoring:

Anya had created a few sets of extra clothing to her, remade the band that she had given to Faesol and expanded her plushie collection with an Espeon. All made easier as she now had a live version to take measures from.

Faesol's psychic training:

Being capable of lifting a fist sized stone was impressive, but crushing the said stone just with the power of her mind was unbelievable. Anya had given her some lessons on physics and how they worked in her old world, along with some basic ideas on how to apply it.

She wasn't sure if the information really helped her but Faesol's control over her psychic energy seemed to be improving fast.

Anya's training:

Everyday after Kurt had visited, Anya has been in the backyard practicing. Learning to control her aura as Faesol's called it. The progress has been frustrating to her and at the fifth day did she manage to feel a small amount of something gathering around her. At first she was wary of the unknown energy, with the confirmation from Faesol, she had her first impression of aura.

It was totally different from what she initially thought and she wondered how she didn't feel such an unique energy when she was at the forest.

The energy fascinated her and she played with it most of the day. Only when hunger made its presence known did Anya realize how long she had been occupied.

As her control over the energy increased, so did her senses to the aura of others. Something she had managed to grasp was that the aura was not really as strict as the others made her to believe, she couldn't really directly use it to attack or anything but she could use it to easily change the natural energy around her to either Bug or Grass energy which came to her more naturally.

Anya giggled happily and made a mental note to just call it type-energy. Her inner researcher was ignited, she typed notes for the rest of the day after eating very-late-lunch with Faesol, who was quite unhappy as she couldn't get food for herself yet and needed either Anya or Samuel. She had tried to open a can of fish but her control over psychic energy just crushed the can along with everything inside it and Faesol didn't like her food with pieces of metal in it.

----------------------

Next day, the sixth day after Samuel was gone. Anya noticed that they were starting to run out of food and after her morning training she left the house with Faesol tagging along to visit the local market.

Walking around Pallet town all the eyes of people were on her, people whispered about her being the 'ghost' a while back, she wasn't exactly comfortable with the high amount of attention. Reaching her destination she entered the store, a ring of a bell sounded from the door and the person behind the counter froze when she saw her.

The sales clerk was old and had grey hair, the moment she gained her bearings she shouted angrily. "Out of my store!" Anya was shocked, she thought she could at least reason with the clerk, she had some papers with her to converse at least to some extent. She had not expected such an instant hostility. She left the store as the clerk grew more and more agitated each passing second threatening to call the police and what not.

Continuing their tour around the town, they had found the market stalls. She was a bit happier now that she saw the few Pokémon that were shopping along with their trainers.

She went to line up in front of a berry stand, when it was her turn, the young brown haired girl manning the stand looked around for her trainer. Anya sighed a bit and took out a piece of paper from her.

The girl took the paper and was puzzled, it took her a minute to make connections between the written language and the Unown script.

Looking back at Anya curiosity shown clearly on her face but ready to take her order.

Anya pointed at some of the berries that were being sold and noticed that she didn't have a way to specify how many she wanted. She thought for a moment as the girl waited and the person behind her was getting more restless.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

Anya had an idea, she looked at the price and took out a set amount of money and gave it to the clerk while pointing at the same berries. It took a while but she understood eventually what Anya had wanted.

Shortly after Anya was carrying a basket full of berries. On their way to home, she had noticed that Faesol had been surprisingly silent, she glanced at her friend and noticed that she had been curiously looking around.

"What's on your mind" asked Anya, causing the Espeon in question to stare back at her in surprise

"No-Nothing" Clearly caught off guard "I was just reading the mental patterns of people here"

"Oh? You can do that?" Anya asked, interested about how the psychic-type abilities worked. "I though reading mind is not something you would do though?"

"No, no, not reading minds, I am not that good yet." She said "I meant reading their patterns" she continued "Every human, every Pokémon each one has a different mental pattern an unique way of thought" she tried to clarify.

"Huh?" Expressed Anya, not clearly understanding what she had meant.

"Where to begin, a mental pattern is the part of a person which umm... presents? How someone thinks. Like most Pokémon have a certain type of base on their pattern and humans have similar to other humans."

"The base pattern differs too much from human to Pokémon that our thoughts are hard to match up"

Anya being interested in the subject even if she couldn't really understand what she was talking about. She knew the words and basic principle behind the statement. Which was 'Everyone thinks differently'.

"So why are you studying these patterns?" Anya asked

"If I know someone's pattern, it allows me to influence them much more easily with psychic powers"

"That... Is nice? I think. Other psychic Pokémon do this too?"

"I think so?" she answered as she wasn't sure "It came to me naturally, but I do not know any other Psychic-type Pokémon, so I can not be sure.

Talking with Faesol had calmed her mind and she had unconsciously ignored the myriad of stares she had gotten from the people around.

A young light brown haired boy with hazel eyes stepped into their way, he was wearing green shorts, a white t-shirt and a red cap. On his belt he had two pokeballs.

"What are you?!" the boy shouted out loud. Even if she wanted to answer, she couldn't as they had no way of properly communicating. She sighed and said "vA NY vA". The boy winced when he heard the oddly unnatural sounding voice of Anya.

"As a trainer, it is my job to prevent wild Pokémon wandering around my town" he stated proudly and took a hold of both of his pokeballs.

"Two on two it is, Go!" he shouted while releasing his two Pokémon.

The first Pokémon to materialize was an all too familiar dog that could spit fire a Growlithe, the second being a bit more surprising. It was another dog, this one having black fur and a skull like bone protrusion on its head. Anya recognizing it to be a Houndour. 'Another fire type' thought Anya.

Anya glanced at Faesol and noticed that she was already ready for a battle, gathering her psychic energy and focusing it on her red gem.

"Hello" said Anya

"We do not want any trouble" She continued, the two canines were visibly confused and both of them looked at their trainer. She was still extremely unnerved and her trauma of Growlithe was about to flare into existence yet again. It took all she had to just say a few words to dismiss the situation.

The trainer was puzzled, why didn't his Pokémon ready up for a battle like they should.

"What's wrong?" he asked his Pokémon, they both gave a soft whine as an answer.

With the small distraction allowed Anya to take out a piece of paper she had with her. It was meant to be used exactly in a situation like this where an unruly person showed hostility to her in the middle of the town, during their shopping trip.

A group of spectators had gathered around obviously looking for an interesting battle. Anya held the piece of paper towards the trainer who ordered the Growlithe to take the paper from her.

'HELLO, MY NAME IS ANYA AND THE ESPEON'S NAME IS FAESOL. WE ARE IN CARE'

'OF SAMUEL OAK, WHO RIGHT NOW IS CURRENTLY AWAY SOMEWHERE'

'WE WOULD LIKE TO BUY SOME FOOD AND WE WILL PAY YOU WITH MONEY'

'THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING'

The boy finished reading the paper and a look of confusion was shown on his face.

It was not like a normal wild Pokémon were carrying paper notes with them and going shopping.

Meanwhile Faesol and the Houndour were in a heated argument, neither of them were attacking the other but Anya could see the Houndour gathering flames in its mouth and when it spoke the flames flickered.

"Faesol, that's a bad matchup against you" Anya explained. Causing her feline friend to quickly glance at her before focusing again on the dark fire dog.

"It is a dark-type Pokémon and is supposedly extremely resistant to psychic energies" she tried to reason. It didn't help that the Houndour was obviously taunting Faesol to attack it.

"Feef, now now, don't attack" Anya tried to calm her friend.

The trainer was still conflicted about the whole situation, seeing that his Pokémon was actively growling against the Espeon.

"Wh-What if we have a battle?" he suggested out of nowhere.

Anya tilted her head, obviously wanting to hear more.

"A two on two, single battle, as you are a trainer's Pokémon. There shouldn't be anything too complicated" he said in confidence.

Anya nodded and took out the necklace that had Faesol's pokeball.

"Feef, going to recall you for a moment" to which the Espeon nodded. She pressed the button and Faesol disappeared in a flash of red light.

The boy was surprised as were many of the spectators. Even the other trainer's Pokémon were confused.

None of them had ever seen a Pokémon using a pokeball and their minds were fighting against this sudden break in from the norm.

The boy soon recalled both of his Pokémon and told Anya to follow him, which she did. But only because excitement was casually creeping up inside of her. She was going to have her first ever battle, she knew she would most likely loose.

But knowing that their opponents were of two unevolved fire-types. She at least had the numerical advantage of base stats.

Arriving at the local training ground, they had to wait for a while as the arena was occupied with a pair of trainers using their Pokémon to battle. It wasn't as interesting as watching Samuel decimate his opponent at the big stadium, but it was still interesting to see the grassroot level of trainer combat.

It took around 30 minutes for a field to clear for them. Anya and the boy both took their sides of the field and prepared. There was a small commotion about having a Pokémon act as a trainer and getting a referee was also a necessity. According to the other trainers.

The referee stated the rules of the battle and with a count of three they both released their Pokémon. It was time to battle!
