Chapter 32

Morning soon came and Anya didn't sleep too well, her mind occupied by yesterday's actions. The sun has already risen and Faesol was gone from the bed, she took her clothes with her and went to take a shower to clear her head.

Finally refreshed and awake, she headed downstairs. The breakfast has already been eaten, as was evident from the dirty plates, pans and cooking utensils.

Anya noticed that neither Faesol or Samuel was to be found inside the house. She mentally shrugged and made her own breakfast.

After eating, having nothing to do, she started cleaning the place. Washing the dirty dishes, wiping the floor and continuing to the second floor.

Coming back downstairs, the house was clean and Anya was satisfied. She sat down at the sofa and started working on her projects.

The sun was at its peak when the door opened. Faesol and Samuel had returned, Faesol happily bouncing around behaving more like a dog than the cat she was. Anya wondered 'where had the shy Eevee gone to' as ever since she had evolved her personality was a lot more different, Anya didn't think it was natural and might have something to do with the evolution itself.

Faesol had noticed Anya at the sofa and joined her tracking dirt all around.

"So what have you been up to?" Anya asked her and she responded to her with a beaming smile.

"We went to the 'training yard' I think it was called, There was this path with obstacles and I had to run through it as fast as possible. I stumbled quite a lot but still managed well according to Samuel."

"That's interesting" She said while glancing at Samuel. "Were there many other Pokémon?"

"Not really, Samuel said that most trainers prefer to teach their Pokémon by battling over to other methods like the one I did"

"Really? I had thought that battling would be the show of progress in training not the training itself..." Anya said baffled.

"Really? That's all? Did you battle?"

Faesol shook her head "No, Samuel said I was too young and small"

"I, don't know anything about that, but you wanted to battle?" Looking the Espeon next to her, trying to measure her size.

"Yes!, fighting makes you feel good, even better when you win!"

"Interesting, I think I know that feeling too?"

"Why wouldn't you? Oh right, the human thing right?" to which Anya just gave a nod

"Now that we are talking about fighting, how do you use moves?"

"Moves?"

"Yeah, the use of some kind of energy to create an attack"

"Hmm, I think, naturally? Is that a word?"

"So it is an instinct?"

"Yes?" Faesol just bobbed her head.

"Maybe that is how the trained Pokémon differ from wild ones?"

"While wild Pokémon mostly use instincts to fight and trained Pokémon use intent? to direct their attacks. This is quite confusing..."

"Yet, how do I fight then?" Her mind flashed through the few encounters she had really.

"I... don't know..." Faesol said sadly "I remember the time when we haven't yet met, You were releasing power I think the Ninetales called it 'Aura' and said you would be extremely territorial and aggressive as if you were constantly ready for a battle."

"You had used your Aura to sharpen your cutters, I think? As they aren't really that sharp normally" as if to make her point she placed her paw on the sharp edge of Anya's cutter and casually 'sliced' past it.

Anya was surprised and took the cutters away quickly she checked Faesol's paw and saw that there weren't any signs of the cut. She sighed in relief.

"Don't scare me like that, what if you had gotten hurt" she said sternly

"That was not my point"

"Maybe it is your non-violent nature that causes you to not use any moves" she continued

"I, see. Maybe Samuel knows something?"

Anya stood up and walked to the typewriter and started typing something.

-------------------

Samuel had spent the morning with the eager Espeon and took her to the agility training course that was located at the training yard. True to Anya's words the Espeon didn't show that kind of intelligence and understanding that she had and he was glad that he had to explain what they were about to do to her and how each and every thing in the yard was meant to train the Pokémon.

He had noticed that Faesol had glanced at the nearby battles every now and then, He knew she wanted to fight. But she wasn't fit enough for that, he was surprised how bad she was doing on the course. After a few laps she had some progress on her movements.

Samuel decided to ask Anya about Faesol and her upbringing, why would an evolved wild Pokémon be so weak was beyond him.

A few young trainers came to greet Samuel as they had recognized him and asked some questions about how to train their Pokémon and about Faesol, most of them haven't seen an Espeon before, they also asked if she was going to be in his team. Some of the youngsters asked about the strange Pokémon that was seen along with Samuel during his latest Elite Four battle. Some of them even tried to challenge Faesol to battle, He had to deny them.

He answered the questions calmly, while his eyes were locked on Faesol, who was still running laps on the agility course. Each lap a bit faster than the previous.

The sun has reached the zenith and Samuel had called for Faesol, who came eagerly to him. He told her that she had done great and she should have noticed the progress herself. To which she agreed with a pleasant purr.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

They were heading home, Samuel dreaded about how to meet Anya, her actions yesterday evening caught him by surprise, the act was too sensual and somehow caused him a great embarrassment even though she was a Pokémon, her acting like a human made it worse.

They visited the local store along the way back, Samuel opened the front door and Faesol eagerly entered and disappeared to the living room.

He peeked around the corner and saw Anya doing her tailoring stuff while Faesol cheerily rubbed her head to Anya's side on the sofa, both making their usual noises when they talked. Samuel stored the groceries and went to the backyard, he noticed that Anya had cleaned the house while they were gone.

The backyard was quite barren, the grass was starting to grow back now that the snow was gone and Samuel started to prepare the grill, noticing that the grill was moved from its original position and a pot of water was left on top of it.

"Seems like Anya has been doing something?" he said puzzled. He still cleaned the grill, rubbed the burns from the grate and checked the gas levels, noticing that they were running low, he made a mental check to remember to get a refill.

The grill clean and ready for action he went back inside to get some vegetables and sausages to grill, now that it was clean it was only natural to use it.

He heard that Anya was typing something on the typewriter as the clacking sound was heard the moment he came back inside.

Curiously he went to see what she was up to, he read the paper and noticed that it was meant for him.

'I AM SORRY SAMUEL, YESTERDAY I ACCIDENTALLY CAUSED MY INSTINCTS TO RUN'

'WILD, WHICH CAUSED THE UNCOMFORTABLE INCIDENT'

'So it was a Pokémon instinct?' He thought while reading 'Maybe part of her species then?' he mused, learning more about her every now and then was nice. Even her typing speed was faster than most of the humans he knew of.

'I HAVE COME TO REALISE A PROBLEM THAT BOTHERS ME AND FAESOL, IT HAS TO'

'DO SOMETHING WITH HOW MOVES WORK.'

'MY HYPOTHESIS IS THAT WILD POKEMON USE INSTINCT TO BATTLE, WHILE A'

'TRAINED POKEMON USES INTENT. I, MYSELF DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO EITHER'

'I CAN NOT USE INSTINCT NOR I CAN NOT USE INTENT TO CREATE AN EFFECT'

'DUE TO MY NATURE AS AN INTELLIGENT AND SAPIENT POKEMON, I NEED A WAY'

'TO HARNESS AND CONTROL MY OWN ENERGIES. OR AT LEAST LEARN TO RECOGNISE'

'THEM, I HAVE USED THEM ONCE ON AN INSTINCTUAL LEVEL BUT I HAVE NOT HAD'

'ANY PROGRESS IN RECREATING IT'

All of this was quite interesting to read. It seems like the all knowing Pokémon didn't know everything he chuckled. The last line that Anya typed made him frown.

'I CAN PAY, INFORMATION FOR INFORMATION'

He was quite annoyed that there seems to be a wall of professionalism around her, she seemed to see Samuel as a customer instead of a friend or a companion.

Anya was done with her writing and was expectantly looking at Samuel, She had replaced the old paper with a new one, ready to type.

"Anya..." He said, Anya perked up. This was it she thought "I, don't like where this is going" puzzled Anya tilted her head. "I know you want to sell information to buy stuff, but what if we just made a contract? I'll provide you with everything you want and you answer my questions how you see fit. It removes the feeling of business from these 'transactions' I would like for you to see me as a friend, not a customer at least."

Shocked, she pondered for a moment. The deal didn't sound so bad, it gave her a freedom of answering with the benefit of getting what she wanted. There was a single thing she typed to confirm.

'THIS SOUNDS OKAY, HOWEVER THERE IS A SINGLE CONDITION'

'YOU MUST NOT EVER REVEAL ANY INFORMATION I TELL, TO ANYONE WITHOUT MY'

'APPROVAL. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER AND YOU TELLING THE WORLD SECRETS'

'IS NOT GOOD BUSINESS'

'I WILL HOWEVER ALLOW YOU TO GIVE HINTS TO TRAINERS FOR EXAMPLE'

'GIVING THEM TASKS TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE EVOLUTIONARY CONDITIONS OF'

'A POKEMON AND RECORD ALL OF THEIR FINDINGS ON A PAPER.'

'WHEN DELIVERED, YOU CAN GIVE RELEVANT INFORMATION BACK TO THEM'

'AS A REWARD'

'That was a great idea' Samuel thought, to reward trainers for gathering information with relevant and useful information to the trainer itself. It would also fuel the search for new information in turn. As long as the information reward was substantial enough, there would always be willing trainers.

"I, think that is a great idea. You would be a great Pokémon researcher if you were a human"

Anya scoffed, she already was and being a human had nothing to do with being a researcher.

"Okay, it is a deal then." Anya nodded in approval

"So you wanted to know about Pokémon energy?" she nodded again.

"Pokémon energy is a well debated topic amongst the trainers, as you know that Pokémon have been separated by types already." He looked at Anya, who responded with a nod.

"Some of us believe that the Pokémon's typing is actually made of the Pokémon's defensive energies, take a Vulpix for example having a fire-type defensive energy in combat making her categorized as a fire-type" Anya was listening intently

"We do not yet have any means to detect the Pokémon's typings without testing it with moves and remembering our results. But most Pokémon have a tell to figure out their typings, take you for an example." he said pointedly

"You have a bug like body, external abdomen, check, antennae, check, spinneret, check all of these are typical bug-type traits that most other types have. Then you have these green leaf like extensions here, which refers to the grass-type's traits. Most grass-types have leaves or other greenery on them to represent the nature."

"So, you are most likely a Bug/Grass dual-type Pokémon. Seeing how the bug parts are majority of your frame, means that your bug-type is the dominant one, called the main typing, then the grass being the secondary typing."

"Somehow even if a Pokémon clearly shows three different typings they only have two active during a combat and those two types have always been the same no matter how many of their species we study."

"Take the Beedrill line for example, they are obviously a bug-type, their secondary type is poison but they could also be a flying-type like Butterfree, but aren't. Somehow the poison-type is the more dominant secondary typing"

Anya nodded in understanding and typed on the typewriter

'WEEDLE AND KAKUNA ARE BUG AND POISON TYPES WHERE AS FLYING WAS ONLY'

'INTRODUCED BY THE FINAL FORM OF BEEDRILL'

"Yes, something like that" Samuel said after reading.

"Now about tapping into that energy the Pokémon use for combat. From what we know of, the Pokémon using energy doesn't take it from the defensive energy they have but use the nearby natural energy outside them and mold it to an attack of their desires."

"We as trainers help the Pokémon by giving them orders to decide what to mold the energy into"

"The battling Pokémon do have to be careful what moves to use when fighting, as exhausting themselves too much can prove to be a fatal mistake."

"The recent studies show that the defensive energy is totally separated from the attacking energy and Pokémon's stamina shows the state of the used energy. More tired Pokémon's attacks are weaker and their defensive energy is easier to break through than a fresh out of ball Pokémon."

"As for your problem of using moves and manipulating the attacking energy... I have no idea. I don't think any human would know how. Maybe we should get another trained Pokémon to help you with that? That will have to wait for a while too."

Anya nodded and chirped a thank you for Samuel, which he somehow understood the meaning well enough.

"Well, onto a more dire news, I will have to leave for a week or two" Anya tilted her head and chirped a question.

"I need to prepare for a meeting with the IRI."

"I will be leaving early tomorrow and I'll leave you some money to buy groceries. I had already filled the freezer quite a lot in preparations for your and Faesol's dietary needs."

"Before we leave, I would like to try to capture you again, just to see if the breaking of the poke ball wasn't some odd malfunction."

Anya dreaded but nodded resolutely. Samuel took out a poke ball on his belt and softly tapped it to Anya's forehead. Nothing happened, he then took out another poke ball this one had a blue top and two red stripes going around and a white bottom.

"A friend of mine made this one, he called it a great ball" He tapped Anya again with the great ball this time. Nothing happened.

"Okay, seems like you are uncapturable Pokémon for now... which is weird"

"Anyways, now that this part is done, here" He said while giving her a poke ball from his belt.

"This is Faesol's" he said, the poke ball was attached to a band of her silk which could be easily wrapped firmly around Anya's arm.

"Now that this is done, I'll need to start making lunch, I am starving already" he laughed out loud.

The rest of the day quickly passed as Anya listened Samuel's training plans and elite four fight. Even Faesol was eagerly listening to his talk about the preparations.
