84. Rose's Diary

They stopped at a shop and bought Luke a shirt out of Luke's own pocket. It was one of the few shops whose cashiers had either not evacuated or had, at the very least, quickly returned.

The first house up was Max's.

He walked out of the van almost as though he'd just seen a ghost.

Rose looked out the van and yelled as he left.

Rose: It's ok, Max. I'm sure your mom will be happy to hear from you. She's super nice... (thinking right after: Wait, she's his mom, and so he should know that.)

Max weakly waved back as Rose as the van door closed and Luke drove away.

There wasn't a car in the driveway as usual. His mom wasn't home yet.

Ken: Well, his mom should know he's back home now.

Rose: Yeah.

There was a silence in the van for a moment.

Rose: Do you think he'll be ok?

The rest remained silent, and Rose crouched and hid her face behind her knees.

The next house up was Rose's.

Rose: Bye, everyone.

Tiffany: Goodbye, Rose.

Luke: See ya, Rose.

Ken: Hasta la vista, Rose

The van door was shut, and Rose walked into her empty house.

Yet again, mom and dad were not home.

She sighed as she walked towards the front door and opened the automatic door.

Rose: Door open.

Door: Good evening, Rose.

The door opened as usual and she walked up the stairs to her bedroom. She slowly climbed up as she always did before entering her room.

It was a mess. Full of giant dolls, instruments, and even an aquarium.

Rose: Here, fishy fishy....

She got a bit of fish food and fed the numerous pet fish in her room.

A smile lit up in her face as she noticed that one of them was growing bigger.

Rose: You're a big boy now, huh.

She tapped the glass right next to it, and it swam towards her. There she remained, smiling, before retiring to her bed and grebbing her diary.

It was a bulky looking diary that was locked with an incredibly tough and expensive looking lock that could only be loosened with brute force or, in her case, with psychic brute force.

She focused her power and forced it open. Afterwards, she got a pen and prepared to write.

The pen lay on her lip as she thought of what to write that day.

Rose: (thinking: How should I start?)

Suddenly, the 15 year old started in a mad dash with her pen.

"Dear Diary, today was amazing! Well, not at first! I woke up late and almost missed my first lesson. And then later, I had gym class, which was tough. But then... then.... I got to hang out with all my friends!"

She picked up different coloured and expensive looking pens. She began to use different colours for each of her friends.

"Tiff was, like always, super supportive. In gym class, she hung back to make sure I made it through. Luke was Luke as always. Super fast runner and super nice. He "almost" beat Vince. Even though he could've, he wanted to keep his identity a secret. But you know what, diary? I'm really glad Ken came up with that plan last semester. Because of that, I'm no longer all that worried about gym class."

"And Max..."

She took a moment to swoon as she continued.

"Max was so so so cool! I mean, he got into trouble with the principal today, and he also kinda sorta got me into trouble as well. But ya know what, dear diary, he did all those 10 laps! Can you believe it? He's so amazing. The coach and Vince stood against him, but he beat them both. He's so tough."

She excitedly stomped on the ground.

"Oh, I can't believe I almost didn't tell you. At lunchtime, these spider robots attacked the city and tried to destroy X-corp. I was so shocked, but then Tiff had me open up a psychic conversation immediately. She's so smart. She did it after only like 30 seconds. I bet her head is full of lightning bolts. Yknow, because lightning is super fast."

"Speaking of lightning, ... Tiff told me and the others to keep our secret plan from Max. She wanted him to stay out of it, and so Luke, Ken, and Tiff all told him that they weren't going. I couldn't help much because I'm not a very good liar. But guess what..."

She squealed.

"Max was so cool. He didn't even stop for a second. He just decided to go alone. Isn't that amazing? Oh. Am I talking too much about Max? Sorry. Anyway, later..."
