81. Soundly Sunk

Ken: Alright...

He said this as both the van and the spider bot had entered the singular high way. There wasn't a soul in sight.

Ken: Now!

Max gave it is all, sending two powerful bolts of electricity at the spider bots two front legs as Ken lasered them both, one after the other at full force as Rose psychically shoved at the both of its front legs at the same time.

The result was as Ken had expected. The robo-spider tripped and fell once more.

Max: We did it!

Max took a breather.

Rose: Yeah.

Ken's eyes remained focused on the robo spider.

Ken: Rose, get ready.

Rose: Huh?

Ken: Get ready to use your powers.

The robo-spider started to get up once more.

Ken: Tiffany! Drive into the desert.

Tiffany: Right.

Tiffany turned the van into the desert sands. It was quite a bit harder to drive into the sand, but the van managed to make some distance.

Rose: Oh no. We're slowing down.

Ken: That doesn't matter.

Ken looked back at the spider bot.

Ken: (thinking: We're quite a ways away from it now. Will it bite the bait?)

The spider bot turned to face them, and just as before, it started to squat on the ground. Ken immediately closed the van's back door.

Rose: Ken!

Ken: Tiffany. Reverse the van! Rose! Use your powers to pull us backwards. Now!

Rose didn't wait another second. From the moment the spider was in the air, Tiffany reversed while Rose pulled them backwards. The van pulled back at a ferocious speed against the sand.

The spider bot landed several metres in front of them in a massive cloud of sand, blinding all of them.

Tiffany: Ugh.

Rose: Ugh.

Max and Ken covered their eyes, and they all braced themselves as the van was pushed back at a tremendous pace because of the impact.

Ken: Hmph. Mission accomplished.

It was a massive dust cloud.

Luke suddenly got up.

Luke: Is everyone ok?

Max: Yeah.

The impact combined with the pushback from Rose and Tiffany's sudden reversal had sent Max, Rose, Ken, and Luke all flying to the back of the van.

Max rubbed his head in agony.

Max: Man, that hurt....

Rose gently tapped her head.

Rose: Ouch ouch ouch....

Luke: You OK, Rose?

Rose. Yeah. I'm glad to see you're ok, Luke.

Luke: Hmph. No problem.

Tiffany remained silent. She was glad to hear that Luke was doing well, but her eyes were set on one specific goal. The spider bot.

At a moment's notice, she was ready to drive away, but such a thought would soon prove to be unnecessary, as the dust cloud dissappeared to reveal a spider bot stuck in the sand.

Only its head remained above the ground. Otherwise, all of its legs were stuck in the sand.

Tiffany: Ken?

Ken: Hmm?

Tiffany: Good job.

They all looked outside to bear witness to the spider bot that was now on the ground, struggling to move.

Ken: Hmm. Naturally.

Max: No way.

Max super sped out of the van to get a closer look.

Max: But how?

The other four slowly made their way out of the van themselves.

Ken: It's elementary.

Max: Huh?

Ken: The spider's legs are pointy and therefore have a low surface area. If it were to jump into desert sand...

Max: It would get stuck. Man... Ken, you're some kinda genius.

Ken: Thank you, thank you very much.

The robot turned to face them and started to struggle towards them.

Max made a silly face at it.

Rose: So, what are we gonna do now?

Tiffany: Easy. We destroy it.

Max: Yeah!

Ken: Hmm!

Max began to absorb electricity from the robot as Ken began to blow his cryo breath onto the spider. The robot was soon chilled and somewhat frosted, although not much, and Max was recharged.

Ken: Rose? Could you hold it in down with your psychic powers?

Rose: Oh, sure.

She held it down. And while she couldn't quite keep it from struggling, she was able to keep its body in its larger form, albeit not easily.

Ken: (thinking: As I thought, that combined with the fact that it's stuck, the fact that Max is sapping away at it's energy and my cryo breath having slowed it down should make "de-amalgamating" quite the challenge.)

Ken: Alright. Ready?

Max: Hmph.

Max fired powerful electro bolts at it while Ken lasered it. The rapid heating and cooling combined with the electric blasts made the robo-spider quickly become disoriented, lose nanobots, and then start sparking and shaking.

Ken: Get back!

Max, Rose, and Ken ran away from the giant robot, and a massive explosion occurred, leaving a crater on the ground and creating a dust storm as well as a glass figure of an explosion.

Max: Awesome.

Ken: Hmm.

Rose: Yeah.

The three of them took a sit down to admire the view.

Meanwhile, Tiffany and Luke watched them from a distance.

Tiffany: Sheesh. Who thought a bunch of measly bots could cause so much trouble?

Luke: Yeah.

Silence remained between the two of them for a moment.

Luke: So, Max...

Tiffany immediately flinched.

Luke: You know he'll ask you again, right?

Tiffany: I know.

Luke: And you know he's not gonna stop.

Tiffany: I know.

Luke: I get it.

Tiffany: Ugh. Let's talk about that later.
