57. The Principal's Judgement

Afterwards, Max made his way to the principal's office.

It was an oddly fancy room with carpets all around the room and its walls. It also had a bookcase and amazing furniture and a miniature golf course complete with its own hole.

Max: Woah!

He took a moment to gaze upon the scenery.

Richard: Good morning, Maximillian.

Max: Oh. Good morning, Principal Richard.

Richard: Please, have a seat.

Max took a seat on the chair.

Richard: Now, I suppose you may be wondering why I'd called you here.

Max: Uhhhh... is it about the food fight on Monday?

Richard: Yes. Very good, Maximillian. It is about just that.

Max flinched at the thought. He could be in some serious trouble.

Max: Uhh... yeah. Well, what about it?

Richard: Well, seeing as you weren't here yesterday, you did not see as to just how much damage was done that day.

Max: Damage?

Richard: Yes. To school property and, more importantly, to the student body.

Max: The student body? Wait! People got hurt?

Richard: Yes, Maximillian. Of course, the majority were nothing more than a few minor injuries, but you know parents and how they worry.

Max: Y... yeah.

Richard: Yes, it will cost the school quite a bit to fix all of that. That much being said, while the students were cleaning the mess hall, it would just so happen that one of our dear lunch ladies told me of what had really happened.

Max: What!

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

Richard: Yes, and it would seem that you and your friends deceived me.

Max: But... but...

Richard: But what?

Max: But Vince started it! He's the one who was bullying that guy.

Richard: Who?

Max: I uhh.... I don't remember his name (thinking: Dang it. I dont even know who he is.), but... he still did it!

Richard: If that is the case, then how do you fit in all of this?

Max: I was standing up for him!

Richard: Really?

Max: Yeah, and then me and Vince had a fight, and then...

It shortly after occured to Max that he'd just told the principal everything. He paused and flinched at the realisation.

Richard: I see.

Richard took a long sip of his tea.

Richard: So, tell me, Max. Why did you, in this scenario, not call an adult for help?

Max: Well... I...

Richard: So you acted on your own volition. I see.

Max: No... I mean... ugh.

Richard: You mean yes, don't you, my boy.

Max: But it's not fair. The teachers wouldn't do anything anyway.

Richard: Really, who told you that?

Max: Ken!

Richard: Kenneth? When was that?

Max: This morning.

Richard: I see. So you started a fight in the school premises of your own volition, is that right, Maximillian Hunter?

Max: Huh?

Richard: Seeing as Ken told you all that just this morning, you had no way of knowing that until just today, isn't that right?

Max flinched. "Was he being played?" he thought?

Max: But...

Richard: But nothing. I suppose that now, I will have to give you a proper punishment.

Max flinched again.

Max: Y... you mean the red card?

Richard: Oh, you've heard of that? Heavens no. I would never give that to a student on his or her first week. I will instead give you a punishment.

Max: A punishment?

Richard: Yes. Today, you will be cleaning the kitchen after lunch.

Max: Gross. What kind of punishment is that?

Richard: The proper kind.

The thoughts of disgusting and greasy ovens as well as dirty plates disgusted Max. He was not looking forward to it.

Richard: Yes, it will be quite the challenge, but you will have to overcome it. But for now, you are dismissed.

Max: (depressedly) Yeah.

Max got up and walked out the door. "That guy." he thought. "He's something else."

Richard Valencia. His calm, eloquent, and benevolent voice could did not waver once during their conversation. And that was, perhaps, the most terrifying thing about him.

Just as Max was at the door, he continued.

Richard: And tell all those friends of yours that they have detention for deceiving me.

Max winced at that last statement.

Max: (thinking: Great, more bad news.)

After Max was gone, Principal Richard Valencia got down to some golf.

Richard: (thinking: Maximillian Hunter. He's a strange one. Standing up against Vince to protect someone he doesn't even know. I wonder as to why he did it.)

He effortlessly landed a hole in one.

Richard: (thinking: That boy... well, in the end, he will have to be punished for his wrong doings.)

Meanwhile, Max made his way to his history class.
