82. The End Of The Spider Bots

Voice: Reporter Janice Carlson here, reporting live from the scene.

Name: Janice Carlson

Age: 29

Description: Is a lot more chill than she looks on screen.

Occupation: News reporter.

Fact: She practises speaking with parrots at her home.

Dillan: Hey there, Janice. Looking lovely as always. I, like the audience, would like to know, just what happened down there.

Janice: Thanks, Dillan. According to police reports, while there is a large amount of property damage, there is no longer a sign of any of the spider bots anywhere. They all seem to have disappeared.

Dillan: Really now! That is fascinating. Are there any eye witness reports of what happened?

Janice: Unfortunately, no, Dillan. It would appear that no one is aware of how they disappeared. However, there seems to be a huge wake of destruction left in the area. Police reports state that there might have been an intense battle.

Dillan: Oh, really? A battle?

Janice: Yes. We are heading over to one of the ambulances now.

An adult woman came out.

Woman: No, really. I'm alright, I'm alright.

Name: Kimberly Baxton

Age: 38

Description: Stern mom

Occupation: X-corp employee

Fact: She swore off using hair products.

Janice: Excuse me, miss?

Kimberly: Oh yes. Hello. Oh, am I on TV? Hi honey?

Janice: What is your name, and what do you do?

Kimberly: Oh... right. My name is Kimberly Baxton, and I am an employee at the errr... X-Corporation.

Mrs. Kimberly took a moment to turn back and look at the wake of destruction. X-corp was still standing, but there were several broken glasses, and the inside of it was completely destroyed.

Janice: I see. Would you happen to know what happened?

Kimberly: Oh yes, of course.

Kimberly cleared her throat.

Kimberly: There I was, being chased down by those spider bots, running for my life, when I tripped and fell. And then some super speeding young man grabbed me and led me straight out of my hiding place into safety. I swear I've never seen any stroke of luck like it.

Janice: Oh really?

Kimberly: Oh yes, I'm quite grateful to be alive and well.

Janice. We are all happy to see that you are.

Kimberly: Oh you...

Janice: Thank you for your time.

Kimberly: No, thank you.

She waved at the screen as Janice smiled and turned back to the camera.

Janice: As you can see, Dillan. There appear to be reports of a young man clad in black with a mask on to hide his face that just so happened to save these peoples lives with "super speed" and "lightning powers"

Dillan: Incredible!

Janice: Absolutely. Mrs. Kimberly isn't the only one with such information. The officers, other workers, and even the company CEO all seem to be saying the same thing. That a young man in black saved them from the spider bots.

Dillan: I see. That is incredible. This super human man, did anyone happen to catch his name.

Janice: No. Apparently, he simply led the civillians far out of harm's way and disappeared.

Dillan: I see. Is there any footage of what had happened to the spider bots?

Janice: No, not even a bit. It would just so happen that all of the security cameras were mysteriously offline or shut down.

Dillan: Really.?

Janice: Yes, the....

Tiffany: Shut it off.

The team was in the van, being driven by Tiffany, because Luke did not have a shirt.

The van had already been cleaned by Max earlier and was back to its usual colour.

Ken was playing the video from his eyes. The video was sucked back into his eyes.

Max: Hey, I wanted to keep watching.

Tiffany: Ugh. You only want that to happen because you want them to talk about you more.

Max: Is that a crime?

Tiffany sighed massively as the rest of the team laughed at her.

The people of Hypercity, bit by bit, cancelled their plans for evacuation and made their way back to their homes if they were not destroyed that is.

Back at Hypercity High, a large number of students who were still in school quickly became relieved after hearing about what had happened.

Brian Baxton was in tears.

Brian: My mom.... she's alive.... she's alive...

Vince's parents had arrived, and he went out to go get his bike, only to find that his helmet was greasy and surrounded by flies.

Vince: Huh...

In the helmet, there was a message in ketchup spelt, Max.

Vince: MAAAAAX!

Meanwhile, a troubled Julianne Hunter, who had just left her spa day early to go get Max, just heard what had happened on the news.

She was mere moments away from the school and had told herself that she'd simply not call on his phone to ensure that he made the choice himself.

As to whether he had remained in school or fought the spiders was a mystery to her.

It was then that the news channel opened up the segment.

Tears rolled down her cheek as she heard, "super speeding hero."

More tears fell as she started outright crying on the steering wheel.

She couldn't believe it. All that waiting and patience paid off. Her son was a hero.

Back at the van...

As they drove by the crowded roads, Ken continued to tinker with the broken spider bot.

Ken: And done.

The spider bot suddenly dematerialised into dust.

Max: Woah, what was that?

Ken: I simply made sure that every last inch of that thing was history. Even the little bits that fell off on our way to the desert region.

Tiffany: Good thinking, Ken.

Max: Yeah, no kidding.

Rose: Uh huh.

Luke started.

Luke: Oh, by the way..... on the way, could you guys buy me a shirt?

Ken: Hmmm. Maybe....

Luke: Hey!

Ken: Just kidding... just kidding...
