106. Protonite's True Power

Julianne, responding to Rose's feelings, decided to tell him a bit about them.

Julianne: Though, I suppose I could tell you a bit about us.

Roses eyes lit up.

Julianne: For one thing....

She put her finger on her lip, thinking of one thing she could tell her about Max.

Julianne: ...protonites have the ability to control electricity.

Her hand rose up, and blue electricity could be seen flowing from between her fingers.

Julianne: We also have the ability to absorb it from machines.

A blue aura came from the same vacuum cleaner, draining its battery rapidly.

Rose: Uh huh.

Julianne: I'm guessing you've already seen Max do that.

Rose: Yeah, I did!

Julianne: Well, have you ever seen him do this?

The electricity shed absorbed flew into her body, and then, to Rose's utter shock and amazement, another Julianne Hunter seemingly walked right out of the body Julianne Hunter.

Rose: That's... That's amazing!

Words could not describe it. What she had done was basically duplicate herself.

Julianne: Mmm, hmm. This is an "electric doppelganger" that our species call a carbon copy.

The "doppelganger" giggled.

Rose: Woah!

Julianne waved her hand, and the clone dissipated.

Julianne: Protonites can use those to serve as decoys or support in battle, but they aren't all that durable...

Rose: That's so cool! Protonites have so many powers!

Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.

Julianne: Yes, I guess you could say that.

Rose: I mean, electric powers, super speed, force fields, clones...

Julianne flinched ever so slightly.

Julianne: Yes, we are that powerful.

Rose: Can Max do that, too?

Julianne: Well.... no. At least not yet.

Rose: Hmm?

Julianne: It's a... well... more advanced protonite technique. It takes a lot of time, maturation, and practise to use that move.

Rose: Oh....

She seemed only slightly disappointed.

Rose: But... you're still really strong.

Julianne: Well... that isn't to say that sirenites aren't powerful on their own. Psychic powers and mind reading are no joke in combat. I would even say that you're one of the more powerful members of your own team.

Rose: R... really?

Julianne: Absolutely.

Rose blushed.

Rose: Thank you.

Julianne: No problem at all.

She found herself giggling. So that was what Rose was like. She was ridiculously innocent.

Julianne: Alright. Any more questions?

Rose: Ummm... no. I think that was it.

She stood up and prepared to leave.

Rose: I'm really glad you helped me, Mrs Hunter. I'm gonna put all those things into practice right away.

Julianne: No, problem.

She sipped her coffee without a worry.

Julianne: It was no trouble at all.

Rose politely bowed to Julianne, much to her disturbance. Why was she bowing anyway?

Julianne: It's ok, no need to bow.

Rose: Oh, it's ok.

Julianne: Hmm?

Rose: Tiffany told me to always bow to people to say thank you.

That act in an of itself perturbed Julianne. For one thing, why would Tiffany have her bow?

In fact, after a second thought, they did all fall on their knees to her earlier that week to apologiseforo what had happened to her son.

Just who was Tiffany that she could inspire her team to do that. Even more, who were they that they would accept such an odd request.

Julianne: Oh.... I.... see....

Rose: Well...goodbye, Mrs Hunter.

She picked her phone up and prepared to leave.

What happened next was the last thing Julianne Hunter could have seen coming.

She'd have sooner expected Rose to turn around and attack her.

It all started with a comment that she'd carelessly made.

It was a comment that all people make to children when they see them leaving to head home.

One that she would never have thought much about, after all, it ws just a common courtesy.

Who would've thought....?

Julianne: Goodbye, Rose.

And then she continued...

Julianne: And say hello to your parents when you get home.

She didn't know that many aliens, and she figured that knowing Rose's parents wouldn't be that big of a deal. But in this case...

Rose didn't answer. She simply paused in her step.

Julianne: Hmmm? Rose?

She slowly turned around and forced a smile.

Rose: Oh.... ummm..... well.... the thing is....

Julianne's mind immediately went into overdrive.

Could she be an alien refugee? That wasn't an uncommon thing in planets, as she'd learned in her younger years.

However, that could also mean that she was on her own on Earth, probably illegally as well.

So, why was she on Earth?
