Chapter 31, H.O.T.D 2

Day 13.

Around midnight of the new day members of Team Japan secretly left the camp without word to the main characters or any of the staff members of the army knowing. Shin, Connor, and Sachi who excelled in stealth actions through skill or special abilities left without raising any suspicion on foot, each carrying with them a unconscious Newbie. After leaving the camp they left the perimeter of the inner city from the opposite side from where the legion of undead were invading from. The army were keep a vigilant eye out for movement from the legion or anything else suspicious, especially so with the death of the former Supreme Commander and leader of Tokonosu City. Even so, Shin's group' stealth abilities along side Hikari providing support with her scans made it easy for this small group to pass through their surveillance nets unnoticed. So easy that Shin and the others were glad that the other team didn't own a Psyche Force user.

After then running for miles on foot Shin took out an armored humvee from the Subspace Belt and and they drove off to the coordinates Team Kenya's leader told them. They drove for 10-20 minutes under the dark blanket of the night till Hikari said she spotted their targets. Three human knocked unconscious inside a SUV and according to the scans there was no one else present. Hikari even went on to double check with the support of her Persona Adrasteia and confirmed that there was no one else, but that didn't mean much since Team Kenya had means of escaping Psyche Force Scans. Though strangely, unlike other members of Team Kenya she could sense these three brain waves through Psyche Force.

Perhaps whatever method Team Kenya was using to hide from her scans was undone or discontinued, but they would never know. That had checked the dead member of Team Kenya, Deka, for any special items and up anything else of importance, but she had nothing of importance on her possession except the Player Watch. And so they still had no idea how the other side was hiding, but they had to continue the deal. According to the arrangement they had Team Japan would kill these three individuals who were Newbies of Team Kenya, and in exchange they would take three of their own Newbies to different coordinates where they will be killed by Team Kenya. Each side will keep the current +1 and -1 Team Scores in the end, but each side will earn 6000 Points and B rank reward for the individual kills.

Sachi: "I've said this before, but this could be a trap. While we're here Team Kenya could at this very moment be heading over to the camp to kill our team and the main characters. We've confirmed as much that the main character of H.O.T.D along with the two leaders, now one, are Team Kenya's targets in this mission from the Player watch of the woman you killed."

Shin: "You would probably be right if Team Kenya was a team weaker than us, slightly stronger than us, or better yet more ruthless and calculating. Under those conditions what you just said would be a valid plan the enemy, but Team Kenya's leader is more than just a bit stronger than us. He could just walk into the camp and kill everyone and we could only run away with the main characters and Saya's mother, but even after entering the Third Stage to simulate the abilities of Jin and our teams previous strategist, the action of letting me, Shuai, Jin and two of the main characters doesn't match with a enemy who cares about the best results. For whatever reason, maybe just for a good fight in the future he is willing to let us go for now to give us time to grow. As for their mission... this is just his assurance policy so that even if we kill the Z3 leader of the legion of THEM, he can survive the penalty of three members being erased at random. There is more than a good chance he cares nothing for his team, so he won't care if we wipe them. He'll probably even tell his own team that he forced us to exchange newbies for maximum profit which is good for us as well. According to the plan Jin thought up, us appearing subservient is a good thing. I also left Aqua behind just in case they do pull something. Now that's enough of this talk. We're already here, so... Connor, kill those three in the SUV per our agreement."

Connor: "...Understood. Trigger On."

Connor transformed into his Trion Body and left the humvee now parked and hidden in a back alley while staying vigilant of his surrounding, and with Silent Approach dashed towards a tall building 300 meters away where he would have a vantage of the SUV as well as the surrounding area. His his steps carried him forward like the wind without a sound to be heard and in just under a minute he had entered the building's fourth floor with the Eaglet Rifle aimed and readied at the SUV.

Connor had his own opinion on this matter in this trade, but as he was not the leader or a planner like Jin, he followed his orders believing that this action that appeared as if Team Japan were admitting their defeat to Team Kenya's leader wasn't the truth, and pulled the trigger of the rifle. The Trion bullet shot out of the Eaglet's muzzle and without anything going wrong hit the front engine of the SUV and piercing straight through. The gas ignited within the engine and the car blew up with the blast swallowing up the three Newbies inside and burning them alive.

In addition to the notifications for the team points from God, Connor confirmed over Soul Link he had received the points and rank rewards for the kill, and after making sure he was not being followed he left the building and return to the Humvee where the others were waiting and they left. They drove towards the coordinates they were supposed to leave their own three Newbies at and arrived within ten minutes. There was still no signs of Team Kenya, so they carried the Newbies to a street corner where an abandoned car was left behind and dropped them off inside as per the deal. Shin looked back at the three innocent Newbies who could only be faulted for their inability to swiftly adapt to God's Dimension, but after turning back his head away from them he never gave them a second glance.

Shin had felt bad about allowing these three Newbies who were kept unconscious for the last 13 days and in the end had them die for the team, but he didn't feel too bad since they were not a part of his team yet. Even if they didn't have talent, long as they showed the desire to become a part of the team and contribute however they could, Shin liked to believe he wouldn't have so easy agreed to this trade. Especially if they were like Shuai or Renji who lacked power when entering a world far too much for them to handle, yet tired their best in the end.

Shin kept convincing himself of this as they drove back to the second defensive wall, and fifteen minutes after they had left they heard the expected announcement of their newbies' death.

Just as the light of dawn breaking could be seen over the horizon movement could be seen from the camp. There had yet to be any big movements from the army with the exception of them continuing to rain down bombs and bullets on the ever approaching legion of zombies, but this only required a third of the army to keep up as they took turns resting, yet now their was not a single soldier standing idly by.

The zombies continuing to march forward took notice of this through their eyes, and through a variation of Soul Link the Z3 was informed. It was quite clear the human side was no longer aiming to conserve their power to not exhaust themselves fighting off the zombie army who didn't know of the word rest.

Jin: "But even if you know something is up, it's far too late for you to stop us. Shuai you're up!"

Shuai: "...Okay. I... I'll... do it. Not like you've left me any room to fail, mad strategist! Fuck! You're much worse than Saki in that regard!"

From atop of a building with all his comrades standing behind him and many others from the army looking at him with expectations, Shuai gazed at legion of zombies in the distance more nervous than he has ever been in his life. More so than when he was made to be the bait to draw out the enemy way back in BTOOOM. Their ranks had been reduced greatly over the last two days and were no longer the strong 3 million army they were when they arrived, yet they were still about a million strong army of undead who congested the streets of Tokonosu City and looking all the way to the horizon he could only see a black mass of zombies with no end in sight. As for what Jin snd the others were expecting Shuai to do to stop them, he had to curse at his carelessness of telling Jin the new technique he had thought up which was still in development, yet was expected to perform here and now in front of everyone.

The new technique Shuai had come up with was a combination of his Earth Elemental Gnome and his understanding of concepts from the world of Kekkaishi. The concepts were Shinyuuchi (Sacred Land) and Guardian Deity. In the world of Kekkaishi, Shinyuuchi were hidden mystical realms that can be accessed from the real world, but only through special means. Each shinyuuchi is closely linked both to the Guardian Deity that protects it, and to the corresponding area in the real world that conceals its entrance. The finner details weren't all that important to Shuai, but as he exchanged for the Kekkai skill he had studied both Kekkaishi's Manga and Anime, and something caught his attention. That sometimes the Guardian Deity of a Shinyuuchi would lend other it's power.

This was the power Shuai desired!

Shuai felt that even after exchanging for B rank Spiritual Power and unlocking the constraints to the First Stage his power was not anything too special. Especially when you compared him to "The Gamer" who could have his Gnome create large fissures or holes expanding thousands of meters deep. This of course was due to the Gamer's unreasonably and broken high magic power and magic recover even when at a low level due to many skills and special items. More so, in general the more magic and strange abilities required a large amount of energy to be used effectively, yet Shuai still felt frustrated by his lack of power and it was this new technique was his answer to his dilemma.

Shuai wondered if he used Gnome as a makeshift Guardian Deity, could he take control of his surroundings? It was obvious that there wasn't a Shinyuuchi close by, or at all in this world to borrow power from to his knowledge, yet Shuai had confirmed with his elemental Gnome that their was indeed natural energy flowing all around them. The whole world from what he was told by her. In the ground, plants, water, air, and space itself there was energy present and Shuai wished to take ahold of this untapped well of power that did not have a owner to ask permission from. It wouldn't be anywhere near as powerful as drawing power from a true Shinyuuchi, yet that was still vastly more energy than the Spiritual Power Shuai held in his whole body which was B rank. Even the collective energy of his entire team would only barely amount to 5% of the resources he could take from the land.

Shuai had yet to try out this idea to such a grand scale before, and in this moment he now regretted when he was discussing the idea with the magic user Jin earlier in the week as they were setting up traps. All he had said to Jin was that the amount of earth he could control would be substantially higher than normal.

Shuai: "..."Guardian of the Land". Using an elemental or spirit as a catalyst, take hold of the land, air, and space within one's scope of control to vastly strengthen Spiritual Power. Unfortunately I can't yet use this power with my Kekkai skill, but if its just Gnome whom I'm most accustomed with, I can bring up a sturdy wall around the entire enemy army!"

As Shuai finished speaking he entered the First Stage of the Genetic Constraint with extreme focus. Next he summoned Gnome in front of himself and casted a purple Kekkai cube barrier around the elemental. In addition, Shuai bestowed her with all of his Spiritual Power leaving himself without a drop left behind. Gnome used that power to then fill up the cube with energy and was now dyed green rather than his standard purple Kekkai. The green cube illuminated its surroundings with light and a few moments later tree roots made up of pure energy surfaced from the exterior of the cube and dug themselves into the ground. Gnoem confirmed that there was no lord of any kind in the surrounding area to prevent her next action, and so preceeded to draw energy from her surroundings.

First energy was taken from the earth, and next from the air and space itself which were absorbed into the ground and flowed through the energy roots back to Gnome within the shinning green cube. Gnoem was now filled with a immense amount of power like no other, yet Shuai looked extremely pale and wobbly on his feet. Energy roots were now wrapped his body as well, yet he didn't dare try to draw that massive amount of energy into his own body. The roots around his body were only to serve as a supporting link to Gnome, but the demand of helping Gnome draw in the surrounding energies took its toll on him both physically and mentally. If he dared to draw in that energy into himself as he was now, either his body or mind would collapse immediately. Still, Shuai persevered and commanded Gnome to take the final step of the plan. Shuai personally felt that if he could just create a large sinking pit under the legion this mission would be over and done with, yet he didn't have that much power for such a grand manipulation of earth.

Yet what he did have enough power for was to build all encompassing wall of earth strengthen by spiritual power around the whole zombie legion invading Tokonosu City, and he did just that. Giant walls reaching heights of over 200 meters with the thickness of 5 meters took form inside the densely packed legion of zombies that captured multiple city blocks and buildings within, including 950,000 zombie. The sudden appearance of the giant wall startled the Z3 and even those of Team Kenya locked inside the great wall, yet the Z3 immediately ordered his army to break free, but it was harder than it looked. The walls were incredibly sturdy as they were constructed of rocks imbued with massive amounts of Spiritual Power and repelled the fist strikes and claw slashes of the zombies. Even the surface of the walls were impossibly hard to climb, which made escape all but impossible to achieve.

Jin: "...Huh. Far greater than what I expected. Too bad we don't have enough say... gasoline or we could burn them all alive in a makeshift campfire. Too bad. If I had known Shuai could do this much I would have had us buy some from Drebin. Maybe even before we entered this world I would have asked Shin to buy Shuai a Fire Elemental. We might not have even needed the wall if he could channel so much power into a Fire Elemental. Hahahah! We could burn down a major city in one night like that!"

Shin: "...Only you Jin would say something so ruthless and tragic that it can't be put into practice. Still, even without a raging fire to burn them all alive we have something just as terrible in store for them and Team Kenya. Aqua, if you would."

Aqua: "Fine. I'll leave the rest to you all... Don't die!"

Aqua took one last glance at her team and rushed towards the fenced rock wall with her adamantium claws already retracted. As soon as she reached the wall her claws stabbed into the wall, and at a unbelievable speed she scaled the wall. As she climbed she felt the Spiritual Power reinforcing the wall and noted how hard it would be to break through, and felt better about what she was about to do. Aqua reached the top of the wall and flipped herself over to the other side, and in mid air transformed into her full wolf form "Silver Fang". The large silver monster wolf landed on top of a few L2 Zombies and were squashed to death without resistance. The surrounding zombies stared at the strange beast which jumped into its ranks, yet the monster wolf paid their glares no mind and slaughtered all zombies in sight.

Silver Fang bulldozed through the army of zombies with its strong body and adamantum fur, and were shredded to bloody chucks on contact. Her claws tore apart all agility types and power type zombies who charged towards her. H1 types bombarded "Silver Fang" with dozens of car sized fireballs, but the blast barely grazed the fur and only proved to annoy the monster wolf who then preceeded to bite off the H1's heads with its powerful jaws. It didn't matter to it that it couldn't even see the end of zombies over the horizon or that it was surrounded. Aqua had only given herself an order to kill everything with a human shape.

- *HOWL*!

Only after a few minutes after Aqua's unstoppable rampage claiming the lives of close to a thousands zombies was there finally movement by the Z3. The Z3 saw Aqua's overwhelming power and brutality and knew their was no hope of stopping her transformed state. And perhaps on a instinctual level the silver monster wolf was homing in on its position despite hiding itself among its army of millions of undead followers. Countless evolved zombies were being ordered to kill the monster wolf rampaging through their ranks without a care, save the Z3's elite guard consisting now of only one L3 and two Hunter Type 2. The Z3 wanted to save them for later, yet had sent out hundreds of S1, S2, L1, L2, Hunters and H1 Zombie to snuff the enemy's life, yet they only served to add to the death count and lower his side's own combat potential.

The Z3 then looked over towards Team Kenya who were watching the carnage of the monster wolf. Most had expressions of doubt ahd fear in their eyes and clearly revealed that they had no hope of overcoming that monster. Of course, Badru their leader hadn't joined them in such a display of weaknesses, yet the Z3 didn't miss that he was no longer smiling as he normally does. All of this, including the wall boxing the majority of its forces in with the monster wolf only made the Z3 more adamant in its next decision of ordering a retreat. The Z3 couldn't imagine escaping with most of its army, but ordered a L3 along with Badru to blast a hole in the sturdy wall trapping them all. The plan was to create two breeches in the rock walls at the same time and allow as many of them to escape.

Of course the Z3 suspected that this would allow the human side a easier time to locate him knowing that the Z3 would surely prioritize it's own escape, but this was a risk he had to take to survive this failure of a invasion. The Z3 could always rebuild it's army even stronger and come back after learning from its defeat, and so it ordered the retreat. Badru turned to the Z3 looking upset having been ordered around, but he sighed and let go of that feeling of wanting to kill the Z3 and did as asked. A few minutes later the rock walls were finally breached by the brute force of Badru and a L3 Zombie who broke open two holes on different sides of the wall, yet it wasn't much. They could only create two holes large enough for small groups to pass through and they noticed that the walls were repairing themselves. The Z3 then swiftly had itself, it's elite guard, Team Kenya, and as many of its zombie followers escape before the walls sealed up.

Jin: "Oh! Our trick actually worked. The Z3 abandoned most of its army to escape with just a few thousand zombies, leaving behind close to a million still trapped in the rock wall with Aqua. They've even split up further to throw us off. From the scans I see about four thousand zombies fleeing north towards the mountains and three thousand zombies fleeing back west were they originally came from, leading to the next city over from Tokonosu City."

Shin: "You really are a gambler, Jin. If they had stayed to fight it out they would have realized just how much of this was just a bluff."

Shin as he was talking to Jin looked down at the ground. Jin following his eye line saw what he was looking at and laughed. Lying on the ground incredibly weak and feeble and having his Earth Elemental care for him was Shuai. Even before the Z3 and a few thousand of its followers escaped the rock wall, Shuai had collapsed onto the ground helplessly. Not only had he used up all his Spiritual Energy, the new techniques placed a incredible burden on his body which explained his current state. The truth about the all encompassing sturdy rock wall which could even regenerate itself was that it had a short life expectancy now that Shuai was left in such a pitiful state. Within the next thirty minutes or so the energy from the surrounding land reinforcing the rock wall and allowing it to repair itself would exhaust itself.

In addition the rock wall itself would collapse on itself in the coming hours as its structure was forceful stablized by the energy. If the Z3 had held out and chose not to escape it wouldn't have lost its army or be forced on the run. Of course Team Japan instilled the fear into the enemy to escape at all cost with the presence of Aqua transformed with "Silver Fang". The monster wolf tore apart all its undead forces with ease and showed no signs of slowing down. Anyone with just a bit of intelligence would chose to run from this monster if it was a option, yet this too was also a bluff by Team Japan. Aqua could only remain in "Silver Fang" for half an hour and afterwards she would be completely exhausted and immobile for some time.

Takashi: "You know, I feel bit sad for the enemy commander. Being trapped in those giant walls with your Aqua when transformed... Anyone would have done what it had did to escape, yet if it had chosen to hold on and fight to the end it wouldn't have lost its army. It's kinda pitiful."

Saya: "Well, I don't. This commander type zombie conspired with humans to invade our city and killed papa. The humiliation it'll go through once it learns of this farce isn't enough to satisfy me! Shin, you'll make sure the enemy leader won't walk away from this with its life, right?"

Shin: "Of course. Per our plan the Walking Dead Unit and the military will handle wiping out the 1 million THEM still trapped behind the walls and in the surrounding area. Even if the they still have a mental connection to its leader and can take commands, I'm sure the Z type chose to escape with as many of its elite forces as it could. The humans siding with the zombie legion most likely escaped with the Z type, so the military here is more than good enough to wipe the legion of normal zombies. As for my team well take two thousand soldiers and chase after the Z type. We don't know which of the two groups the Z type escaped into, so we'll have to split up and chase both. Me, Hikari and Shuai along with 1000 soldiers will pursue the 3 thousand THEM escaping west. Hikari still has her two Psyche Force Diffusion Plates+1 on her, so we alone can handle 3 thousand THEM and will be our final trump cards in this battle. Jin, lead Connor, Kisara, Drake and Sachi, as well as the reminding soldiers and chase the 4 thousand THEM fleeing north into the mountains. We'll be lending you our most powerful sci-fi and magic weapons, so use them to wipe both THEM and Team Kenya if you see them! We'll leave Aqua who will be in a weakened state soon to you of the Walking Dead Unit. The final battle starts now!"
