Chapter 21, H.O.T.D 2
A temporary order for the majority of the army's Enhancers was made half an hour ago. Due to this the human side was left vulnerable if for whatever reason the zombies closed in and would be unable to repel them, so to compensate for this loss the Supreme Commander had placed an order for the moder team and his elite snipers to take action. These two forces blasted the zombies and picked them off from a distance. The S1 and L1 who dared to approach the eliminated the moment they dared to make a move. Adding these two groups into the mix showed a much more efficient killing spree than before when it was Enhancers engaging the enemy the zombies at close range, but the Supreme Commander held back these trump cards from the start of the battle because they were valuable resources. Of the front lines were to ever collapse the morter team and the elite snipers who were biding their time and conserving themselves would be able to allow the army to easily retreat to the second line of defense with minimal loss of life. Still, the whole army was engaging in a battle without rest and were not allowed to mess up.
Captain: "Everyone hang on! Word has come in that the Enhancers are coming back and are being lead by the Walking Dead Unit!"
Soldier: "Captain! L2, S2, and even Hunters! The freaks are closing in!"
It was as the soldier reported.
Closing in towards the front lines and using thousands of normal zombies as meat shields to protect themselves were the elites of the zombie race which the army feared. L2 Power Type Zombie. S2 Agility Type Zombie. And even the rarely seen, but infamous for their combat ability, the mutated beast type on four legs, the Hunter Type 1. They totaled 200 of each type. They closed in with their meat shield enduring the endless rain of bullets traveling towards them and were taking a route which turned out to be a unexpected gap in the barrage of explosions assaulting the legion. Then before the army could correct themselves and concentrate fire to wipe out the six hundred elite zombies, the undead legion made a move first.
The S2s climbed on the backs of the Hunters, and the Hunters then jumped onto the strong arms of the L2s. The L2 lifted the Hunters/S2 zombies and then pitched them forward into the air and flying off towards the side of the human army. A barrage of rockets came to wipe them out, scorching the earth and wiping out all the normal zombies and L2s, but they missed the chance to kill the S2s and Hunters. In mid flight before landing the various S2s jumped off the Hunters with the attention of tackling the soldiers to soften their landing. As for the Hunter, when their hurling through the air came to a end and touched the earth hard, they used inhuman balance and technique to land safety and with the swiftness of lightning lunged at all the nearby soldiers. In less than ten seconds hundreds of soldiers perished and without the protection of Enhancers in close range, this massacre was only the beginning.
Captain: "Damn it all to hell!!!"
Takashi: "Sorry were late!"
Before the captain could see who spoke to him, that person and along with four others speed past him all on foot. They moved with speed impossible for humans and were a blur to his eyes, only seeing their backs as they charged towards the evolved zombies. Each one of the four individuals were wearing clocks over their body which hid their faces and even gender. Following right after them from behind, but certainly not slow were hundreds of other cloaked men and women he and others were unable to tell apart.
Saeko: "I won't say this plan didn't have merit, but if it cost us the first line of defense-"
Shin: "If you're so worried then how about start killing as many as you can. Isn't your specialty speed? Then show us what you got."
Takashi: "Hey, you really shouldn't provoke her! She's scary on the battlefield!"
Kisara: "I agree!"
Saeko: "No its fine, but Shin, my specialty isn't speed... It's manslaughter!"
As Saeko under the cover of her cloak said this her body began to sparkle with streaks of electricity and then in the next moment she vanished from sight. Shin completely lost sight of her in that moment, but in the next he channeled Ki into his eyes enhancing visual perception to find her, but she was already far off having kicked off her slaughter of the undead. Living up to her self-proclaimed talent which was not so self-proclaimed anymore, she swung her katana radiating with lightning in a flurry against one evolved zombie after the other. By the time the rest of the group caught up Saeko had already cut down a few dozen S2s and Hunters with their body parts scattered across the battlefield.
Aqua: "Shin, listen to me for once in your goddam life! Saeko already has a man, but absolutely don't go after THAT or someone like THAT! That's a Sachi level bad idea for your harem plan in a different sense."
Shin: "...Got it."
Kisara: "Spectacular! That speed and technique! I won't lose to her!"
Aqua: "...My bad. You may already have your own killer samurai girl."
Shin: "..."
Takashi: "For what it's worth Saeko is a part of my harem, so please don't badmouth her... by telling the truth."
Takashi was joking around in that moment, but in the next as three S2 Zombies approached his eye's defocused as he entered Unlocked Mode. From his dimensional ring a War Hammer appeared and and he sprinted forward. The S2 with lightning speed shot forward as well and their claws glowed with a light to active a skill, but a loud gunshot rang through the battlefield and a bullet traveling at the speed of sound from the Gauss Rifle interrupted them. One S2 had the top half of its body blown off from the bullet, forcing the other two to scatter. This gave Takashi a opening to take advantage of, and in a fluid motion he swung his war hammer and sent the two S2 flying through the skies. The S2's excelled in speed, but their defense was hardly any better than normal zombies.
Shin: "Aqua! Kisara! We can't let the main characters show us up! Kill!"
Aqua and Kisara hidden under their cloaks ran forward to join Takashi and Saeko in their rampage. The two were facing the extreme speed S2s and a new type of Zombie, the Hunter, but with the support of the experienced and powerful duo of Dual Evovlers, Takashi and Saeko, all four of them were disposing on one undead after the other and before long they could handle them alone.
Aqua faced a Hunter for the very first time, yet without bothering to test out the undead beast she retracted her Adamantium Claws and waved her hands into a storm, tearing apart the Hunter's tongue that was shot towards her face, and continued on to tear the rest of the undead beast apart into bloody chunks. Kisara's body and katana flashed with light as she executed Accel Turn to speed up, and facing the frighteningly fast S2 she side stepped to the side to avoid a extended claw swipe, and then stepping pass the S2 her blade had already been swung and the S2's head was severed and tumbling across the floor.
The less than two hundred S2 and Hunters saw the threat the four possessed and were ordered to by their Z3 master to stop their killing spree on the normal zombies and prioritize their deaths, but this plan didn't go as plan. The remaining members of Team Japan and Walking Dead Unit, and the Enhancer of the army all charged forward to join the battle.

Shin: "Good! These Enhancers are able to push back the Evolved Zombies and our front lines are about to recover as well... But seriously, it's downright frightening just how powerful a S2, and especially Hunters are!"
Shin thought so as he was engaging three S2s who had him surrounded on all sides. He was in Unlocked Mode and grasped in his two hands were his magic and sci-fi swords. Shin had went off from where the majority of his team and the other Enhancers were focusing on to support soldiers who were not yet saved by the arrival of reinforcements, which resulted in him being greatly outnumbered. One S2 clawed at Shin neck with the attention of slitting it and slerping up the delicious evolved blood that would spray out, but he side stepped slightly to the side and allowed the S2 pass by just before he stabbed Gravity Blade into the back of its head. The other S2s in that moment lunged towards him. Their claws glowed and began to extend five feet long and gained increase sharpness, but they never reach their targets. Shin ducked down low as two sets of glowing claws swiped by where his upper body was, and with dexterity and balance not losing to the S2s he ran behind the backs of the S2s and with a swing of Z-Saber bisected them from the waste down, severing their spinal cords.

The three S2 were killed just like that without Shin feeling threatened at all, but without even a pause to celebrate the enemy relentlessly rushed forward and attacked. Ten Hunter Type 1 rushed in and lunged at Shin in that moment he killed the S2s. The Z3 watching the battle through the eyes of the undead recognized the black sword that Shin wielded ten days ago on his way to the city and ordered the few Hunters left alive to change targets. The surprise attack failed, but deeming this particular human a threat, alongside dangerous individuals like those of the Walking Dead Unit, the Z3 wanted Shin dead at all cost. Shin didn't know any of this, but he felt the threat to his life all the same.
Shin jumped back with Instant moment three times to distance himself from the 10 Hunters and switched out his weapons for a Machine Gun with Medium Grade Magic Enchantment and opened fire. Shin preferred close quarters combat and it was where he felt his strongest and most comfortable, but facing a legion of undead numbering in the millions he was not one to under sell the advantages of guns. Excluding tactical misses and WMD, guns ranked number one among all weapons to wipe out dozens or hundreds of enemies after all. In a few seconds hundreds of bullet shot forward and shredded the leading three Hunters to pieces with almost no resistance while seven Hunters behind jumped to the side to evade.

The Hunters showed far greater ability to adapt than the Agility Type evolved zombies and with a oppressive survival instincts they avoid the rain of gunfire with extreme speed and executed irregular moments. The Hunter Types in the blink of a eye closed the distance between them and attacked. Shin prepared to shoot off the head of one more Hunter before retreating, but the Hunter not to be looked down on made a move before the muzzle of the gun was turned towards it's head. The Hunter Type opened its mouth and shot out its long ten foot tongue like a bullet, crushing the machine gun to pieces and grazing the side of Shin's neck. This wasn't a normal wet and slimy tounge, but one covered in razor sharp teeth which could pierce through armored cars. Shin hadn't thought too much of the hunters since they were below S2 Agility Types in speed by a level and only had slightly superior combat instincts, but that tongue attack was the real deal. The speed the tongue shot out was near invisible to see and react to and the force of the tongue shattered the machine gun in his hands.
Shin: (That kinda lightning fast and penetratating force isn't something a human being could survive unless they were wearing armor like the Lesser Fenrir Coat! I would need Second Stage and Silver Dragon Scales just to survive one hit in a non-vital area!)
Shin cursed in his heart as the force of the clash forced him to take a step back and the Hunter successfully jumped on top of him, but to its shock Shin fell backwards on purpose and avoided the undead monster's claws that were about rip out his chest, and he used that momentum to kick undead beast's belly with enough force to snap it's spine and cause massive internal injuries.

Shin: (Fucking zombie beast and fuck the author of G&DW who gave hunters the same tongue attacks as Aliens! Fine! I don't have to hide my mutation any longer, so-)
In those few seconds Shin was engage with the one Hunter Type, six other surrendered and jumped to pounce. Left, right, back, front, and two from above. There was no direction or method for Shin to escape with even with Instant Movement, and the Hunters further more shot out their tounges with the speed of bullets. A normal man or Enhancer would perish here and even a member of the Walking Dead Unit without a AOE magic attack or defensive spell would avoid this type of crisis, but Shin had his own ways to deal with the threat. In that split second as the six tounges of the Hunter Types and their bodies shot towards Shin eight crimson red flashes swiped through the air. Six tounges were slashed into multiple pieces and two of the Hunters were beheaded.

Shin: (Since it doesn't matter anymore if I appear strange, it's time for THEM to see what the A tier exchanged One-eyed Ghoul can do!"
As a black left eye with red iris revealed itself Shin showed a savage smile. The Rc Cells of his mutation flowed through his bloodstream bestowing more power to his body. The feeling of power as the Rc Cells of the SS Rated One-Eye Ghoul strengthened him was almost intoxicating. Shin felt a desire to go all out with the Kakuja Kagune, but it was not yet time. It would also exhaust him, so he held down that desire and settled with just the normal Kagune. The four surviving Hunter Types with diced tounges spraying foul blood reeled back momentarily before attempting anything else.
This went against the Z3's orders, but it couldn't be helped. The nature of the Hunter Types held a survival instinct that the normal and their fellow evolved zombies lacked. That's why despite Hunter Types being more deadly to deal with for soldiers and Enhancer, Hunters were ill suited for the mindless wave tactics undead types were known for. Even so, the four Hunter only planned to regroup before attacking again for greater efficiency rather than charging forward only to die without inflicting damage to the human, but even this wise judgment wasn't enough for them to escape death. Moving faster than their own tongues could be shot out at, waving through the air in a way impossible for them to react, four Kagune tentacles impaled each Hunter Type through the head and the remaining four Kagune for good measure cut at their bodies and sliced them into small diced pieces.

Shin: "Well, that was embarrassing. If I had just started with the Second Stage or Kagune this battle wouldn't have been too close. It really is better sometimes just to start out strong and only then lower your power after adapting to the enemy. Live and learn I guess."
It was then that Hikari made contact with Shin through Soul Link from HQ. She had her remote controlled DRAGOONs patrolling the battlefield and ready to fire if their side needed the support, but she wasn't allowed to enter the front lines. As the Psyche Force user of Team Japan she was too important to lose in battle, so even through it was out on the battlefield behind front lines, they kept her at HQ where numerous guards were stationed and even placed Shuai who was capable of fighting from a distance as her body guard.
Hikari: SL: (Live and learn my... Whatever! Shin! Saya's father, no I mean the Supreme Commander has a request. We've cleared out the evolved zombies who infiltrated our defenses, but will the front lines return to stability he asked us and the Walking Dead Unit to support the front lines with gunfire and bombing knowing you had that special bazooka, the sci-fi gun, and that we're excellent marksmen. It looks like he's getting serious.)
Shin SL: (Tell him it's fine. Tell Aqua to start using the EMP Rifle to wipe out 100 thousand or so zombies and then escape. That weapon is too eye catching, so also tell her to switch cloaks with another Enhancer as a precaution. Afterwards, Drake, Shuai with the mercenary spirit, and I will join the front lines. We'll have Sachi continue acting as a medic, Connor on the look out for the enemy team, while everyone else rejoins you back at HQ. We can't all be operating at full at all times when we'll be fighting for days. The enemy Team could also appear at any moment, so we need to act in shifts. I'll switch out with Connor later so he can rest."
Hikari SL: (Then when will you rest up? You're our leader and strongest fighter.)
Shin SL: (Did you forget? My enhancements lean more towards stamina and recovery than anything else. With just Ki alone I can stay up for a few days with ease without comprising my combat ability. Maybe a week if I push it, so don't worry about me. You need to take care of yourself as well, Hikari. Since Connor is on the look out you don't need to keep up Psyche Force Scan at all times. Especially with your Persona. You'll wear yourself out that way. For now rest and only scan the area for a few minutes every now and again. Once I switch out with Connor I'll need more from your scans, so please manage yourself well.)
Hikari SL: (...Why is it only at times like this you look and sound so cool and reliable? You're also considerate of others. Could you be the type who only shines on the battlefield? Where is... where is my no good otaku boyfriend who acts like a stupid protagonist!?)

Shin without responding to Hikari set off to reinforce the front line. Six hour after the Team Japan, the Walking Dead Unit, and the Enhancers joined the battle the situation began to settle down. Aqua took out the EMP Rifle as planned and let loose a hailstorm of death on the zombie legion. Till the rifle turned white hot from continuous fire of a barrage of thin needle bullets released with EMP technology, over 100 thousand zombies of the undead legion were pulveized and torn apart. This unreal sight brought joy and renewed moral to the human army and would have devastated the enemy's moral if it had existed.
Aqua then quickly retreated and switched out her cloak for another, while members of Team Japan and the Walking Dead Unit took action. Their sharp shooting in Unlocked Mode caused further devastation to the undead legion and impressed the soldiers on the front line. Especially Shin's bazooka with Advanced Grade Magic Enchantment which laid waste to all zombies caught in its blast radius. Before him was literally a sea of zombies, so with each shot of the bazooka hundreds of zombies were blasted to pieces. Unfortunately for Shin all the evolved zombies were avoiding the bazooka and all other bombardment weapons like the plague, so he didn't receive much in points. Still, his efforts, his teams and the main characters helped out overall.
From that point on all the evolved monsters who breached the front line and tired to breach the front lines again were cut down by rains of bullets and the swords of the Enhancers. The battle was preceding smoothly. Too smoothly and the army had wiped out over 1/6 of the 3 million army and not even half a day has passed. At this rate the legion would be wiped out long as the human army maintained it's ruthless assault with the best modern weaponry and low tier magic could offer... but it was still worrying for Team Japan and even the main characters. For the Players they have yet find any trace of Team Kenya. As for the main characters it was ominous that the true elites of the zombies legion have yet to appear. It was then as midnight of the 12th day of the mission when exhaustion was at its peak and the army was in the mist of swapping out personnel that they appeared. The L3, S3, and Hunter Type 2, signaling the next stage of the battle.

Alright! I'm sure we're tired of these small rewards, so let me start by telling you this, unless it's a L3, S3, Hunter Type 2, the boss Z3, Enemy Team Kill or Point Casualty, I won't point out the score from here on out.
As for the cloak strategy by leaving the battlefield. It was dumb, but exciting. Just don't do it when you all enter God's Dimension and enter a war genre story.
